I must now confess, that probably the first and definitely the last time I slept in a tent was some 36 years ago. I stepped out of the tent in the dark and into thin air. I turned and sort of slid down about two and a half metres. I was eight months pregnant and got the shock of my life. No nasty comments please, I've heard them all. Most of them from myself. Nice to see You two back
Always wanted a keb dome! But for multi day trek just kind of heavy. Then you add a bear canister and oof i mean is doable but talk about a pain. Im hauling 10L of water on a 3 day in the dessert this weekend and my pack is around 20.4KG thats all thanks to the abisko with the inner net mesh configuration instead of the actual inner tent fabric. Thats one of the things i love about the fjallraven tent you can customize it. Inner mesh, double poles for winter conditions. Or straight skeleton without the rainfly config. Versatile at its best.
I love my own Abisko dome 3 in bluuuueee😄 so much that I really enjoyed watching this! Also interesting with the differences between Keb and Abisko tents. Now I will watch the tents in wind and snow videos, comfy with my coffee mug beside me...
Can't wait to see you put this tent through it's paces in some trying conditions Al! I own the Abisko Dome 3, only used it in fair weather, but I am certain it could cope with 99% of the weather one might encounter. I love this tent because it is so versatile. Open all the doors, vents and take off the roofcover if you know it is going to be a hot sumner day, and do the opposite when the weather calls for it. Use the vestibule that is downwind as entry and exit, use the other for cooking and storage. Also having a door on each side prevents you having to climb over one another if you bring a friend. For anyone looking to invest in the dome series of Fjellreven tents, the abisko will do in almost any weather, except if you are a stormchaser or on an expedition to one of the poles or Greenland. If you are like me and my spouse that enjoy a little more comfort and space, then go for the 3 man as a 2 person tent, you won't regret it. We went on a multiday trek (7 days) and the extra space is gold when you need to stay inside the tent in bad weather to change and airdry clothes. You also gain a couple of centimeters of headroom in the 3 man, which is priceless when you are two. Also makes it easier to organize your personal gear and keep it separated.
It is a great tent. We have the Abisko Dome 3 and we use it for cycling holidays (I am Dutch...). When it is set up, it is a great tent. And with storm and rain it is even nicer (no problem at all). But it ain't perfect either. There is allways a lot of condensation, and I don't like packing a wet tent. Speaking of packing, the first time I got crazy because of all those lines. You must absolutely bundle the lines before packing (we use rubber bands). I wunder if you will use the groundsheet and why you do or don't. Please tell us your experciences.
Great review Al. Fjallraven make the best equipment in the world (my opinion). I have a feeling you will test it so far past it's limit, just to see. Your experience and knowing your limits and comfort zone will test just about any manufactures equipment way past their tested limit. Can't wait.
Hi Al, I have the same tent. It is epic. I take it solo and with the better half. Yes, it’s heavy, but what a shelter. Fits a treat in my 65Ltr Kajka with all winter gear. You will love it. The all mesh inner is also perfect and can be pitched inner only for the hot summer months. Enjoy Al.
I love this tent. I have a 4-person dome tent (not Fjallraven) and the design is really optimal in harsh weather, it is a beast! I could use a smaller dome tent in this design, so this will probably be the one! Awesome showing of the tent! Thanks!
Hey Al. That tent looks bomb proof. Love all the features and how versatile it is. That weight though, oof. You might need to swap out Blue with a pack horse. 😉 Looking forward to seeing you test this beast out.
That thing is an absolute beast! Can't wait to see you test this out on the top of a mountain in some crazy weather 😂. I'm looking at the Abisko Lite 1 as a possible next tent down to your glowing reports of it. My little Cloud Peak 2 does me proud for a budget tent, but I definitely need something a bit better for some of my future plans (I do worry about how strong it would actually be in really bad conditions) and who better to take a recommendation from?! Fantastic tent fly-through with the drone too 😁.
Thanks Rach 😬. Yea the cloud peak is great for 60% of the time but having a bit more trust in a tent will help. The abisko lite 1 is tough to beat as an all rounder 👌
Great review Al all boxes ticked, congratulations with getting hold of the tent which looks really tuff spacious and well ventilated. Looking forward to see it getting a bashing on the hills.
Thanks for the review! Got the Abisko dome II for some time now. It is considerably lighter than the Keb version (3 kg) and offers the same space. Materials are the same as in the Abisko Light that can take some abuse as you so kindly demonstrated! Great tent for kayaking!
Now that is one bomber mountain tent my friend! Incredibly well designed and supremely built! I hope that you have many an epic adventure in it! 👍 This has got to be the best tent review that I've seen on the ol' Tube by the way brother! Two thumbs up 👍👍
@@BUSHMANandBLUE You're very welcome buddy! And you definitely did an awesome job of showing this one off in all of it's finest. Now I want one for Winter base, haha.
Great review - really thorough. There is a place for a proper two man tent, designed to be carried by two and this one looks the business. When you come to to use it in earnest I'd like to see a postscript to this one showing what the pack size and weight is like if you split it into two bags for two people to carry. The inner and poles in one and the fly and pegs in another. Great channel, keep them coming. A chuck under the chin to Blue.
New tents --- always fun and exciting!!! So far --- This one looks like a winner, and appears to be a big step up in the tent dept. for Fjallraven. Materials, design, and extra thoughtful features should be well-suited to multi-use in wide-ranging multi-conditions --- mild to wild. The no-se-um mesh associated with the fly entrances and vents provide great additional features not often seen. Especially nice in a fly-only pitch scenario.
Incredibly nice to "live in" this tent. Ventilation and inside height is awesome. Especially the ventilation is underrated compared to other manufacturers. Many people doesn't seem to get that better ventilation = less condensation. Got the Abisko Dome 2 myself (using Keb Endurance 3 for more extreme stuff). Only things I do not like about it is the setup process, which can be a lot of hassle in strong winds compared to the tunnel tents or clip-on dome tents (like HB Soulo).
Yea I’ll have to test it out but bigger tents are definitely harder to pitch. It’s swings and roundabouts though as the clip on pole tents the clips freeze and can be a pain.
Nice video, too me this would be an ideal for two people to take up the mountains to use as a base camp tent when walking up different trails each day, and better when you split the weight, one person carrying the tent, the other the poles etc. Be nice to see Fjallraven using your footage on their website. Just noticed now have 40k subscribers, great.
Yes definitely a great base that you could trust to be there when you get back. It would be good for snowy sled camping too. I’ve plenty of good footage for them😂
The only thing I do not love with this design (and the fact that it is not a light tent) is that the poles are threaded through sleeves. This makes it somewhat harder to pitch in windy conditions that in.ex Hilleberg Allak/Sika/Soulo which has has clip attachments with the poles running on the outside of the flysheet. Other than that, I think this is one of the best designed dome-tents on the marked right now.
Thanks for this video. I’ve been researching Hillebergs for a few weeks now, but I think this is the winner. 3000 HH though, I wonder just how waterproof that is. I live in Scotland where wind and rain rule. The thing I think I like the most and thanks for showing it, is how the inner floor can be moved back to give more room in the vestibule.
@@wullieoutdoorsinscotland2192 I'm sure you've already determined the HH for the Hilleberg tent you are considering - is much much higher for the outer fabric & the floor fabric.
@@azclaimjumper Hello, it was me making the Hilleberg comments. Yes, the Hilleberg are much higher (Black label are 5,500 and the rest below are 5,000). I've read a lot over the past couple of days about HH and whilst 3,000 may be fine, more is better. With this particular tent though, I would use it with my wife, who probably wouldn't go out in massive storms like I would, so 3,000 may be fine for this usage. Looks like an awesome tent, I just wish the HH were higher. For my own solo tent I'd either go for the Hilleberg Staika or Soulo BL. Yes it's weight, but I just consider it as extra exercise.
Beauty of a tent ,Al. Massive vestibules, wellvented as well.I as well am looking forward to seeing U & Blue out up in hills with it. You re looking chipper mate. Cheers from Canada EH!
That’s a gorgeous tent and I can’t wait to see you put it through its paces prices seem to be comparable to other high-end tents with the three person only being 1100. I would love to get some US pricing because we have red Deculus winds over here. Two summers in a row we’ve hit over 100 mile an hour.
Congrats on the new tent! That is one beauty with many great features. Can't wait to see it out under windy conditions. Might need to get Blue to carry the poles to lighten your load a bit 😊.
Are the Zippers YKK COIL zippers or YKK zippers with teeth? Line runners appear to be a design similar to Hilleberg Line Runners which is a good thing. The vestibule is absolutely massive. The inner & outer elastic attachments are also similar to Hilleberg tent. You'll really love being able to pitch the inner & outer simultaneously, especially if it starts to rain; you'll be able to pitch this tent in jig time. I'm certain, by now, the whole world will be looking forward to your actual outdoor adventures with this shelter. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada
Now that looks like an update on the Ultimate Phasor Dome a cracking Yorkshire tent. Ultimate Equipment we're based in Halifax (I think, although I recall a mill near Batley). My tent has alternating green and cream panels and is still going strong after 45-ish years. If this Scandinavian version survives as well even the £1,000 price tag could be good value.
That roof thing is different with all the clips and such. Looks pretty solid. Thee needs to be up Kinder Scout with that or Ben Nevis. Blue as beautiful as ever.
Such robust quality and attention to detail… Fjällräven must have seen some of your more extreme videos and thought - Holy shit, we didn’t know they could do that! 😂 You’re definitely a good ambassador for the brand Al 👍🏼
🙏🙏 I pray to god blue has a very very long life and u to mate, he’s so beautiful and watching u and blue cheers me up so much, I am very sick and your vids make me feel better, take care mate 🙏🙏
Now that's a TENT! I'd be willing to carry it on a solo trip and leave behind all the paraphernalia needed to cut up and cook fresh food. A couple of freeze dried meals instead would be well worth it! As long as Blue approves, of course.
WOW! Is it weird to fall in love with a tent, might have to sell my car to buy one tho... Loving Blue as always, the little comments crack me up. Thanks Al, looking forward to seeing how the tent does , now we just need a storm!!
Nice one!! Been waiting for someone to showcase the fjallraven dome tents. I have the Abisko dome 2 and absolutely love it but find it difficult to put up in wet and windy conditions (prob just impatience 🤷♂️) Can’t wait to see you using this up on them there fells but can’t see it becoming a regular on your trips due to weight?
@@BUSHMANandBLUE like you said, the space is amazing. The abisko version is a kilo lighter and I don’t mind carrying the weight for the added comfort but then I am 6ft 4. It’s a bit like the Allak 2 I guess?
That is a BEAST of a tent! heavyish, but as soon as you share the load, no worries. I would even consider it for a shortish solo hike for a luxury experience ;)
Awesome! Agree with A Trick of the Trail, it looks well designed and perfect tent for an Al & Blue true test 👍 But any 4kg+ I guess you’ll be driving your Disco to the top of Great Gable rather than lug that weight 😂
Looks like a great 2 manner if I am allowed to say that. It looks a good un and yeah, instructions should only be looked at if you get stuck or have bits left over. It il be reet. Great review and looking forward to see your good lady give it her stamp of approval. Maybe, you take the poles and the pegs in your backpack and let Nicola take the rest. I hope she can't see this or I will be getting blocked. All the best matey. Take care Al lad
Time to spread the load I say. Awaken Blue’s Inuit blood and start calling him Torngarsuk the Sky God as a nickname. Stoked to see how the awesome yet heavier tent arrives to the top of a mountain!
I have the abisko view 2. It also has a lot of space. Similar to the dome. Its just a 3 season tent instead of 4. But the weight and size is much less then the 4kg. The features of the dome are awesome but the weight and size is really a no-go for me.
I once camped in a wind storm in the desert. My tent, a North Face mountain tent just sat there and never moved. My friend, in his dollar store super cheap tent had to be rescued as his tent collapsed on him in the middle of the night. Pay as much as you can for a quality tent, it's all that stands between you and possible hypothermia and a horrible hideous frozen demise on a hill.
That looks like a cracking bit of kit Al, i'm guessing it is at least a 2 kidney purchase (possibly leaning to 3!) but it is real quality and at the end of the day that costs more. Looking forward to seeing it get used
Superb tent Alan been looking at the abisko dome sand colour version but the Keb is a beast I think they have a better inner than hillebergs cheaper too great video pal 👏👏
What a lovely présentation. I've been désappointe by not being able to obtain a Hilleberg Staika anywhere. So have turned my attention to Fyallraven. I'd be interested to know how long it takes to pitch in reality, and how easy the poles might be to slide through. A six week motorcycle trip to Greece from the UK, then up to the Balkans (Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, back through Italy and down to the south of France and back to the UK) left me désappointed with my Berghaus. This has made me look at more serious tents. As I said, lovely video, thank you.
I eventually went for a Keb Dome 2. This, on the grounds that I'm 71 and it's about time I bought a décent tent. Life's too short not to!@@BUSHMANandBLUE
Thank you for the video. These sre great looking tents. Next year i will need a serious 4 season tent. Would you prefer this in the 3 person or a Hilleberg keron? I know its dome vs tunnel , the Keb seems to be more versatile in the setup if it gets warm.
2 doors side by side would be nice to have as a panoramic view. And a gap in the pole sleeve so you could attach an additional guy wrapped around the pole a la hille. Just my 2 cents.
That looks like a monster. What a well thought out and gorgeous looking tent. Can't wait to see you put it through its paces. 💪
Should be good😬😬😬

My tent has alternating green and cream panels and is still going strong after 45-ish years. If this Scandinavian version survives as well even the £1,000 price tag could be good value.
Ive just purchased the abisko shape 2. I can wait to try it out.
I need this tent in my life :)
Is there such a thing as tent envy? Just asking, because I think I have it. What an amazing tent.
😂 it’s definitely a lovely tent.
That roof thing is different with all the clips and such. Looks pretty solid. Thee needs to be up Kinder Scout with that or Ben Nevis. Blue as beautiful as ever.
Yes it’s a good feature having that storage👌
Such robust quality and attention to detail… Fjällräven must have seen some of your more extreme videos and thought - Holy shit, we didn’t know they could do that! 😂
You’re definitely a good ambassador for the brand Al 👍🏼
😂😂😂 I actually think that is true. I’m happy working with fjallraven as all their kit is top quality 👍
🙏🙏 I pray to god blue has a very very long life and u to mate, he’s so beautiful and watching u and blue cheers me up so much, I am very sick and your vids make me feel better, take care mate 🙏🙏
I’m glad you appreciate the vids buddy. Blue is definitely a top dog😉👍
Now that's a TENT! I'd be willing to carry it on a solo trip and leave behind all the paraphernalia needed to cut up and cook fresh food. A couple of freeze dried meals instead would be well worth it! As long as Blue approves, of course.
I think we could play fetch in that tent 😂😂😂
@@BUSHMANandBLUE hahahah yep!!
Thank you sooo much bro!
Looking forward to a test on a mountain.
Looking to purchase this tent for me and the missis waiting for a upload of you using it before hand
WOW! Is it weird to fall in love with a tent, might have to sell my car to buy one tho... Loving Blue as always, the little comments crack me up. Thanks Al, looking forward to seeing how the tent does , now we just need a storm!!
It’s definitely a tent ready for some love. I need Nicola to come camping with me in it😬🥰
Nice one!! Been waiting for someone to showcase the fjallraven dome tents. I have the Abisko dome 2 and absolutely love it but find it difficult to put up in wet and windy conditions (prob just impatience 🤷♂️)
Can’t wait to see you using this up on them there fells but can’t see it becoming a regular on your trips due to weight?
I think I’ll use it from my kayak alone but will use it with Nicola or a mate on a mountain. Might have to make a sled 😬
@@BUSHMANandBLUE like you said, the space is amazing. The abisko version is a kilo lighter and I don’t mind carrying the weight for the added comfort but then I am 6ft 4. It’s a bit like the Allak 2 I guess?
Yes the three pole dome tent is a common design and definitely works well. It would fit you in too at that height👌
That is a BEAST of a tent! heavyish, but as soon as you share the load, no worries. I would even consider it for a shortish solo hike for a luxury experience ;)
Exactly that mate! 👊
I will have to save up for that tent 🙂
Definitely following this tent
Awesome! Agree with A Trick of the Trail, it looks well designed and perfect tent for an Al & Blue true test 👍 But any 4kg+ I guess you’ll be driving your Disco to the top of Great Gable rather than lug that weight 😂
😂😂😂 that’s exactly it. I’m sure it will get used well though… next to the car😂
Very nice tent
Hes gonna catch that drone one day , he sure is fast enough 🤣🤣
He’s already had it twice but luckily I’ve trained him not to grab it now. He just rounds it up😂
Looks like a great 2 manner if I am allowed to say that.
Let’s hope I’ve found the tent to keep her happy 😂😂😂. Thanks mate👍
That's a really nice looking tent Al 👍👍 very spacious for 2 people or a solo mansion lol..be well my friend ✌️
I’ll be greedy and take the mansion 😬😂
Lol me too
Your Mrs will like the space in this one Al.
Do you still use your Abisko View 2?
Hopefully but it’s hard keeping her happy in a tent😂. I think I’d have to carry her a marquee. Yes I’ll have the view 2 out in summer👌
Definitely looks a solid tent with plenty of options for venting but the weight would put me off if it was kilo lighter it would be a cracking tent
Definitely better for two people but it seems awesome 👍
I had the abisko dome 2. Made the Hilleberg Soulo look like a wendy house in comparison
😂 I’m sure it did. I definitely prefer the space in a bigger tent especially with the dog
The comparison to the keb is either the allak or the staika. Soulo is 1 man tent.
@@AndyWardle yeah I know but I've only had them 2
@@AndyWardle just my attempt at humour mate, don't read too much into it. Soulos a bomber
@@tomwig100 😂 it’s ok. I was just saying 👌
You're going to like this tent better on those windy summit camps than the Abisko.
Can’t wait for the snowy summit video!
Though for the winds you see I’d double pole this one.
It should be good 😬😬😬 excited
How much can Blue carry before people start reporting abuse?
Could he carry the poles and pegs?
😂 the recommended weight is a max of a quarter of their body weight. Blue always carries way less than that though.
Time to spread the load I say. Awaken Blue’s Inuit blood and start calling him Torngarsuk the Sky God as a nickname.
Stoked to see how the awesome yet heavier tent arrives to the top of a mountain!
Very well presented, Thank you.
I have the abisko view 2. It also has a lot of space. Similar to the dome. Its just a 3 season tent instead of 4. But the weight and size is much less then the 4kg. The features of the dome are awesome but the weight and size is really a no-go for me.
The view 2 is a great tent for summer opening it completely up. 😉
Well put
Yes mate I definitely agree. Worth the money for reducing risk and personal safety 👊
That looks like a cracking bit of kit Al, i'm guessing it is at least a 2 kidney purchase (possibly leaning to 3!) but it is real quality and at the end of the day that costs more. Looking forward to seeing it get used
Who needs kidneys when the mountains are calling 😂😂😂
I trust Blue gave his seal of approval...
I think so😂
Superb tent Alan been looking at the abisko dome sand colour version but the Keb is a beast I think they have a better inner than hillebergs cheaper too great video pal 👏👏
I agree and the abisko dome will be sufficient for 90% of nights out anyway. Worth it being a kg lighter👌
Sounds like you enjoy an adventure. Maybe look at the Fjallraven Endurance 2 or 3 as the porch space is massive to keep any wet biking gear etc
I eventually went for a Keb Dome 2. This, on the grounds that I'm 71 and it's about time I bought a décent tent. Life's too short not to!@@BUSHMANandBLUE
I'm out for the first time i n it this weekend. I'm almost désappointed that there's a good weather forecast.
Thank you for the video. These sre great looking tents. Next year i will need a serious 4 season tent. Would you prefer this in the 3 person or a Hilleberg keron? I know its dome vs tunnel , the Keb seems to be more versatile in the setup if it gets warm.
Looks very similar to my Hilleberg Allak 2
2 doors side by side would be nice to have as a panoramic view. And a gap in the pole sleeve so you could attach an additional guy wrapped around the pole a la hille. Just my 2 cents.
Morning blue
