I wish there was a time machine so I could watch this trilogy on theaters.
I was in first grade and it blew my little mind. This was a movie I watched on repeat constantly. I even love and still love that nickelback song at the end
I watched all 3 as well as Nolan’s Batman trilogy as a child. 2 experiences I’ll never forget. I still rewatch these movies every year, or just whenever I can. Dear lord, they’re so good
I watched Spider-Man 3 at the theater! Good times
I watched the first two at cinema back then, some of my greatest memories.
One of the reasons I prefer the first one to the second, is the the experience of seeing it in theatres as a kid for the first time.
It feels like your entire UA-cam career has been building up to this video lol

The craziest thing is the impact it’s had on a generation. Spider-Man was my hero, I adored this movie, I watched it every single day and jumped off the couch web swinging. And then I’ve started meeting people and lines from these movies where inside jokes but I can tell they had similar experiences as kids. Time for a trilogy rewatch!

The way I am now is it because of this franchise, i close to get a girlfriend, and the Maguire's Spider Man will always be in my mind, like Scott Summers (from the comics), but in a special way, that's my Spidey, that's me, that's us!

I completely disagree, these movies have aged incredibly well for me. They can be cheesy at times but if done right cheesy works and it works very well with these movies. They are full of heart, character development amazing action scenes and music. Raimis directing is spectacular.
I can’t stress enough the positive effect this trilogy had on me as a kid. Even so young, many scenes made me feel what I can now articulate into words and what this video has articulated. Profound art that has made my soul
I’ve never related more to a comment in my life. I had so many movies on loop when I was younger. VHS and DVD’s galore. But this movie man, was something so special. I hold it so close to my childhood and heart. The trilogy overall but specifically the first one. I legit watched this movie 4 time a day as a kid. I couldn’t take my eyes off it. I was just mesmerized. It really is my favorite movie of all time.
When Tobey showed up in NWH I was crying ..... He is the perfect SpiderMan
@@tylergary5953 SAME. I REMEMBER watching the final fight again and again on TV repeats on some random channel, acting like spiderman fighting goblin. Whenever somebody asks me my favouirite movie, i stumble, because I know some other movies i have watched are better made or have more to say and I am grateful to have watched them, but there was just something so special about the first spider-man movie. You watch the movie and it is instantly iconic, meaning it will stand the fight against time, and sorry im rambling

Also, one of my favorite dialogues from Spider-Man 1... It's smart, funny, and moving.
MJ noticing Peter as a good person, maybe for the first time... "You know... you're taller than you look."
Peter: "I hunch."
MJ: "Don't."
I was saying that to someone else, but instead I said I love how MJ shows Peter she wants him to be himself around her.
the OG spiderman trilogy has these beautiful moments of genuine, hearfelt connection and conversations or literally subtle ass eye glances or movements that many superhero films lack. this is the reason why the RAIMI movies have stayed consistently relevant against the passage of time and will continue to do so

I just rewatched it, haven’t seen it for like 12-13 years, and I didn’t expect to enjoy it so much. It really felt fresh somehow. No universe building, no overused CGI, just a movie made with heart. And for me… It really holds up. It’s a well crafted, well paced movie. I’m happy that this is the first Spider-Man I got to show my 8 year old son.

I'm so used to people crapping in MJ in these films so your interpretation is a breath of fresh air
AGREED. There was definitely sexism in the damsel in distress trope, and we cannot forgive that and must ridicule it, but i also feel as if the vitriol against MJ in this entire trilogy also stems from some sexism. Like so many people just do NOT empathise with MJ at all because she has her own flaws with traumatic and abusive relationships from many men in her life.
@@aryan7767 If you think about it, the fact that Mary Jane came from a broken home means she had the potential to become a villain. If Sam Raimi did his version of Carnage, Cletus Kasady could have been a dark reflection of Mary Jane: a redhead who came from a dysfunctional family, has daddy issues, and struggles with love. However since Mary Jane had Peter as her best friend, inspiring her to be herself she did not become a sadistic sociopathic murderer like Cletus Kasady. Kasady would have been what Mary Jane could become if she didn't have Peter in her life just as Eddie Brock was a dark reflection of Peter if he didn't have the moral upbringing of Aunt May and Uncle Ben. Peter was the only person who made her feel like herself but imagine if she didn't have him in her life. Raimi could have made a whole movie where Peter breaks up with MJ and then we would see what happens to her as a result. She would lose her sanity and go so far as to murder her own dad just like how Kasady killed his grandmother. Remember in Spiderman 1 when Aunt May was in the hospital with Peter and told him about the first time he saw MJ at age 6 he asked Aunt May "Is that an angel?". This quote could have been brought full circle by having Cletus Kasady be the devil to Mary Jane's angel.
@@aryan7767 You do put up a good point, like the video. Dunst's MJ has likeable moments, but her bad moments become too noticeable to 2-cent critic commenters on YT. (Also, in SM3, MJ wasn't supposed to be the damsel again, Gwen would have been. But Bryce was pregnant with her and Seth Gable's son.)
yeah what i meant to say is that MJ was definitely a flawed person but the hatred agaisnt her is so hilarious. peter was an awful partner to her in part 3, and was either completely absent and weirldy shifting between rejecting her and clingy towards her right when shes getting married. it was a complex relationship @@mottom2657

I personally really like the scene where goblin is making Peter choose MJ or the children. I like the fact that Peter saves both. Here’s my (lengthy) personal opinion on the part where goblin is telling Peter to choose:
Right before Goblin lets them both go, he says, “We are who we choose to be. Now choose!” Which is what this movie is about. It comes back to that responsibility lesson with Uncle Ben (recall the car scene where he’s talking to Peter about these are the years where he chooses the kind of person he’ll be for the rest of his life.) It’s that moment where Peter is deciding what kind of hero and person he wants to be-MJ represents himself, while the children represent sacrificing everything for the greater good. Clearly the children are the better choice, but instead he “chooses who he wants to be” and decides to do what he can to save both. But at what cost? Himself. The goblin was rushing at him, likely would’ve killed him while he held on to save both MJ and the children. I think it plays into that scene where he says Ben was his father. It’s a defining moment. He will do what he can to save everyone even if it costs himself. He’s growing up.
But that’s just me.
But hey, that's just a theory.
@@walrider2133 A FILM THEORY
...and cut.
This reminds me of Spider-Man: Life Story, where we see that Peter has frequent nightmares throughout life of failing to save uncle ben. So every moment he can spend as Spider-Man he gives his all to save as many people as possible, because he can't save uncle ben, but he can save everyone else, or at least try. Then, SPOILER ALERT, he gives his life to save the whole world from a future ruled by villains. After his death scene we get a flashback from shortly before where he tells Mary Jane that he had the dream again. But this time, he saved uncle Ben
Thank you so much for that Mary Jane part, people rarely talked about it.

When I lost my father at a young age, my sister took me to the movies to help me get my mind off of it and we saw the first Spider-Man film. While watching it, I realized that Peter Parker in the film was just as goofy and dorky as I was, was super bright eyed, and we both lost our father figures. The way he cried over his uncle was exactly how I felt when I lost my father, so Spider-Man as a movie, Spider-Man as a character, and Spider-Man as a person opened my eyes to a whole new universe of comics, movies, games, and overall storytelling.
So while people can tell me that it's mostly the nostalgia talking, I can honestly say that these films poured more emotion, heart, and soul into the franchise than any of the newer films.
"So go ahead, pick this movie apart. Make 30 minute videos about how this movie is worse than you remember."
That's some shade straight towards The Cosmonaut Variety Hour there.
I sense a beef coming!! Hopefully not.
It is because that dudes critique is always bullshit
NiggaChickenSticks It is always bullshit. He‘s always just nitpicking. „Haha Willem Dafoe is so funny hahah“.
@@Ali-vr2dj ik, its so annoying and ignorant all the other factors of a good movie. He never appreciates something, just nitpicks the surface
Sebastian Morales I mean he doesn’t even care about character writing or the direction. Or the amazing soundtrack. He only nitpicks.
i’ve never clicked a notification so quick
The new Marvel Movies bore me to death. This Spidy Trilogie was awesome! There are feelings, meaningful scenes, no rush, a nice complexity and and and. Love it.
SONY does Marvel movies the best with Men in Black, Spider-Man, and VENOM.
20th Century Fox sucked at it (except the Deadpool Trilogy), and the MCU would've been better if they didn't make so many crappy mistakes.
You basically summorized why I love the Raimi movies. Thank you! :)
I remember when Spider-Man 3 came out and people practically crucified the whole trilogy and everyone involved in it. I'm glad that people started appreciating it again.
I think we have been SCREAMING for Doom Patrol Part 2
I was just about to comment this.
And an endgame video
bros we gotta wait patiently
Thank you so much for making this, dude.
I adore your content
I love this movie to my core. In my childhood, I had this weird habit of watching my favorite movies everyday and it all started with Spiderman. I liked the second part the most because I didn't understand English much at the time so my father helped me understand the plot and I learnt English that way. Anyways, the train scene where the general public supports Peter and keeps his identity safe was such an emotional moment for me that it crossed my language barriers and reached straight to my heart.
I relate a lot that and so do many other people. Films like Sam raimis Spider-Man were a staple for my childhood. Could watch the franchise over and over when I was little and still can at 23 years old!
God damn this is great
Hey what’s up 24 Frames of Nick
Ik this guy
Hey look, it's human cheese!
25:27 Ahhh we’re calling out Cosmonaut Variety I see eh? Great video Alex! Can’t wait for part 2!
ayyy i noticed that too
Hell yeah, that sonuvabitch made a pathetic video without any valid points.
but he was right, nostalgia IS blinding, and this guy here, this guy who is usually the cynical bastard who trashes things is telling ME that nostalgia is GOOD? If it cant stand the test of time it is not as good as you thought.
@@naxotogo But it does stand the test of time and he laid out all the reasons why. Ask yourself why so many scenes from this film remain iconic like that kiss in the rain or the line at the end? Or the brutal climax that was anything but cheesy.
Salvatore Amato Cosmonaut Variety has always been a shitty reviewer on UA-cam next to GodzillaMendoza.
C'mon dude, I loved James Franco as Harry.
Shapiro P Yiannopoulos me too
Harry’s character development is under appreciated.
same here bro
Some doofus: “The original Spider-Man trilogy suck, Tom Holland is better”
Me: “ *I’m gonna put some dirt in your eye* “
@@JustHazzo yeah, but I like his establishing of his character development as Spider-Man but one thing I know that his issue of his Spidey films are consequences.
@@JustHazzo To me the mcu Spider-Man is fun to watch and are fine comic book movies but are bad Spider-Man movies. They fail to make Spider-Man who he is supposed to be as he is more childish and not responsible at all. I think Tobey and Andrew are way better and have better movies. But that’s just my opinion, I totally respect yours.
@@ryanthecollector1517 I agree! They are fun, like the rest of the Marvel movies. But not accurate to Spidey lore
Tom Holland spiderman = better movie
Tobey maguire spiderman = better portrayal of spiderman
@@lilx3089 the mcu is good but the new spider man movies aren’t better than Tobey or Andrew,
Where's Raimi when you need him in 2019?
Producing "Crawl." Guess he's going back to his roots.
Ανδρέας Βλάχος this film has gotten too much attention, its time to leave it alone
@@Nugdud But the next Spiderverse won't come out that soon, so we appreciate this awesome trilogy 😉. But HEY, guys can we talk about how the 2003 Hulk is way BETTER than they/we believed.
@@allanbezerra-omoreno4085 Well I think Ang Lee perfectly captured the power, anger, and fury of the Hulk. But there felt like too much focus on that one element.
@@cosmicmcmoon5773 i heard sam raimi is directing a movie called world war 3 or some shit
(Reads the title) “Oh Rosie, I love this boy”
This movie introduced me to Spider-Man, I had no idea who he was until this film
really? Thats crazy!
Sam Raimi going in to pitch a horror film:
You know I’m somewhat of a filmmaker myself
I came for the amazing arguments on why Raimi's Spider-Man movies are … amazing. But I stayed for the even more amazing effort put into the sponsored segment.
My dude the beginning is amazing
Not gonna lie, the fanboy in me jumped in excitement
Hitop: "The movie I liked before I even liked movies"
Peter: "The girl I liked before I even liked girls."
Ah ha! I see what you did Hitop! 😁👍
Well he's quoting the entire opening monologue of the movie, not just that line
Super Tax Fraud LMAO
@@judeking119 and?
Everyone with half a brain did
“Coincidence? I THINK NOT!”
I’ll admit it, I was the 13 year old little fuck that said this movie was “cheesy” and that “your just blinded by nostalgia” but as I grow up, I see the masterpiece this movie really is.
I swear you’re just my inner thoughts becoming a human being and posting videos of my exact thoughts and feelings on UA-cam bro. Every single spider man video you post is just perfect, I couldn’t do it better myself, no one could. I feel exactly the same.
Great job as per usual! You nailed this 👍🏻

It's just a dollar to see ahead, I went and did it for this video.
Tobey never quips? I'm pretty sure the people who said that never watched these films.
"That's a nice outfit did your husband give it to you?"
"It's you who's out Gobby out of your mind"
"Hey kiddo let mum and dad talk"
"Here's your change"
That's about four examples I can think of off the top of my head.
Big staircase and “I have a knack for that”
While he doesn't quip nearly as much as the comics would make him, I absolutely love Tobey's take on spider-man. He feels so much more serious than the other actors and I love it
"I guess you haven't heard? I'm the sheriff around this part"
He has well timed one liners, he's not quippy. Big difference.
“I miss the part where that’s my problem”
I just watched a guy spit out facts for 30 minutes straight. Lovin it
