Fun fact, none of the devs for Suiside Squad actually worked on any Arkham title, as most of Rocksteady's talent left a long time ago. Explains a lot, doesn't it?
Yeah I hate that people say this game shit on his legacy or whatever. The game sucks ass don’t get me wrong here, but obviously they never could’ve predicted we’d lose Kevin. This isn’t the first time he has played an evil Batman and he has said he thinks it’s really fun too. Kevin read the script and knew what he was getting into. Nobody could know it would be his final performance as Batman it was just another in hopefully many gigs to come.
I think he was having a lot of fun with some of the lines, however, I dont think he would've been ok with this being his LAST performance, especially as Arkham Batman, which is one of the most beloved iterations of the character.
The Arkham audio logs added to the characters’ history and worldbuilding, but were never full of vital information that was necessary to the story. They were cool Easter eggs and fun to hear, but the main story felt complete without them.

I worked on this game for some time, I came along when the project was already started and stayed there for a couple of years, if only you knew... this video made me tear up as you have achieved other times but this one was different, this stung, I wish the game could have been what much of the team really wanted and hoped for but sadly most of us are bottom of the barrel when it comes to decission making, money and suits always ruin shit. Thank you and I truly hope you can acomplish with Jason what you hoped to find in this money hungry dumpster of a game.
This game honestly could've been it's own unique thing, had it not been part of the Arkhamverse. Wish they gave us a Batman Beyond, Superman or even just a Justice League game instead.
Facts. I don't know what rocksteady is expecting from suicide squad. They think the jokes are funny, and they think players will like it just because it's supposedly the "arkahmverse"

@@NoahToledo-xo5pj Yeah, FE games will also have one or more "essential" units that you need to keep alive to tell the complete story and you can have those be Harley, Deadshot etc. while having more "killable" characters join as you progress like Polka-dot Man, Peacemaker etc.
That last half of the video was extremely relatable talking about how you found out about Arkham Asylum through a magazine, while your dad got smokes and it brought up some memories. It made tear up, man. Keep doing what you're doing, Alex ❤
Maybe this is why insomniac decided to cancel the multiplayer spider-man game. If they thought this would be the the fate of that game then I’m fine without it
@HiTopFilms hey! Its a good thing though...the dedication comes through. As a life long superman fan, I'm super tired of the Evil superman trope, I feel you bro
Could have easily made a JL game; Give Harley's grapnel to Batman, Deadshot's flight to Superman, Shark's jumps to WW, Boomer's speed to Flash and shift the story to "The league defends Metropolis against an invading Brainiac and his gallery of assorted Rogues he's collected from other worlds." Character moments could easily stem from those villains, and they can explore each member's personality and interactions as a newer formed team, battle-hardening them into a Justice League that can kick ass in a sequel. Immediately a better-sounding concept than "haha Squad kills superman". What a joke.
Yeah and have some of the villains be versions of villains from some DCs famous elseworlds like Superman red son, Justice league the nail, batman gotham by gaslight , dc bombshells etc etc etc with the dlcs grabbing the heroes from that world to stop them
Making a game called "Suicide Squad Kill the Crime Syndicate" would have also worked and probably would have turned out better since you can do all the disrespectful deaths and less build up since it would be villains killing villains.
Imagine this, ACTUALLY imagine this: - Open world Flash game where it's so much fun running around - Open world Superman game flying in a beautiful environment with hopeful themes -Green Lantern with adventures and lore so creative and adventurous - Forever People traveling everywhere and are as charismatic as the Guardians of the Galaxy - Wonder Woman being an ambassador of love with epic combat gameplay - Zatanna and Constantine in a mature game incorporating magic - Batman Beyond, where we could've seen Bruce Wayne after Arkham Knight and eventually train Terry McGinnis for a futuristic Gotham So much isn't being brought to life. The Suicide Squad are interesting as a concept and compliment DC's lore but shouldn't overtake so much potential
As a die-hard Rocksteady fan who has absolutely adored and treasured the Batman Arkham series growing up (I even love Arkham Knight in spite of its flaws), this game truly broke my heart. Despite it being an online-only live-service title, I hoped that they would find some way of surprising me and recaptured the spirit and essence of the Arkham games and they just didn't. Maybe the Batman Arkham games are so damn good, not even the studio who made them know how to do it again.
We should stop believing in studios, and start believing in individual artists. I know it’s easier to remember just studios and brands, but we gotta be honest, it’s the effort of individual artists who actually make stuff good.
The thing that sucked the most for me was when I killed Superman I had no emotional connection to it it was like “oh yeah that was me killing Superman he’s dead now I guess” there was no build up he didn’t feel like a threat at all and the fact a Superman fight had me feeling like that is so bad it’s impressive
What an absolutely insane decision from a studio. What a waste. Don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like it honestly. The absolute downfall of Rocksteady, and DC games in general, needs to be studied. Nearly a decade after Arkham Knight, and a monumental run for superhero games, Rocksteady returns with this??? How we didn’t get a Batman Beyond game with Will Friedle and Kevin Conroy set in the Arkhamverse is baffling. Could’ve been another trilogy, and a massive financial win for the studio and WB. Same goes for a Superman game.
@@jadenbryant9283 thing is, this game could’ve TOTALLY worked. It’s a cool idea and an interesting way to explore this universe for sure. Not the route I would’ve gone, but it could’ve totally worked. I feel like early on in development it was a great game, but WB’d decision to make it a live service ended up really tanking it. You can tell there's resentment behind a script when they literally piss over flash's corpse but have an emotional and sad moment filled with pathos when WW dies And don't get me started on the character entries lol My feeling is that Rocksteady is either a new gen of devs. Like the ones that made the og Arkhamverse went on to other projects and we got fresher pairs of hands on the wheel now. Or that the Arkham trilogy was so pivotal to Rocksteady identity that they grew to resent it. Like they couldn't escape the batman's shadow. That and a not insignificant part of WBgames pulling the strings to make a live service game. The original trilogy will always be there. But now I everytime I remember it's moments I'm reminded of what would come later.
Harley a lowlife murderer dressing down Bruce before shooting him, Wonder Woman being the only character to receive respect in her death even though the Flash saved the SS twice, and the gross Games as a Service model. Rocksteady is gone, and wee should never support them again. Hope they go under after something like this.
I saw that feminist BS too. They couldn't do anything to the female and instead is given respect throughout the game. There's even feminist speeches in the bios too. If they had the balls, which they don't, they would had killed the entire Justice League with no discrimination of any sort.
To be fair to Rocksteady, i doubt it was their choice to make a game like this considering everything they've given us in the past, theres no doubt in my mind that some executive that only cares about numbers and not about providing an experience fans will enjoy told them it was either make a game like this or nothing for who knows how long. Not to say they cant be critised for what they gave us, but i feel we should understand that they were probably forced to include the "Games as a Service" model regardless of what they made, though i guess we'll never know forsure until like a decade from now when current Rocksteady employees speak about their experience years after the fact like what usually happens
@@terryrocks2joh God! Not only is a gamergate part 2 electric boogaloo is here with this bullshit but that every single death was bad in this including Wonder Woman's death. It's nothing to do with any form of feminism or whatever and has to do when bad writing because executives made a studio make a thing they didn't want and that wasn't a feminist game but going from single player greatness to a live service. I really wish this game was set in its own universe, with its own take on the characters. By being set in the Arkhamverse it can't even live up to its title.
I knew once a random character like Harley Quinn got a solo film that some garbage like this would get greenlit, but it's a real shame that her popularity had to destroy the guys that created the Arkham games.

I was instantly brought back to 06 being a huge Halo fan and the trailer of Halo 3 dropping and watching it 200 times trying to pull anything I can find then going to message boards to talk about it. It's crazy how this is a shared experience amongst gamers.
Thank you for making this video. It helped my organize my own thoughts about this game. I did not fully understand why I felt the way I felt and there was just a swirl of anger, frustration, and sadness. Ultimately, I'm left with heartbreak. You are absolutely correct that this should not be taken as disrespect to Kevin Conroy in light of his unfortunate passing, because they definitely didn't intend it. However, it was absolutely an affront to the batman we grew with and loved. Worse, it felt like we, the fans, were mocked for loving him, growing with him, and fighting with him, because we felt like we were him. We all had become the batman. That love was treated with apathy and indifference. It felt like all that strife and struggle that we went through, and all that we overcame meant nothing to the ones who should have valued that the most.

We're gonna look back on this game the same way we look back on Resident Evil 6, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Final Fantasy XIII, Fallout 76, Sonic Boom, and Metal Gear Survive.
I just want to say how perfectly you organized your wording to fit my EXACT perspective on this game. I like how you incorporated the fact that people who mindlessly rage tweet, "this game is the worst thing the entire planet has undergone the presence of 😡😡😡" is outrageous. But also acknowledge the fact that this game isn't good and abundantly has many issues. But you also talk about how the core reason everybody is really so passionate about this game is because we all knew it had the potential to be legendary. Well done.
The fact that Alex was in high school when Arkham Knight came out makes me feel old... And I don't think I'll ever play this game. It seems like a missed opportunity. I'd like to see Alex make a video about his thoughts on a potential Superman game. See his passion come through.
You have no idea for how many days I kept refreshing my feed just wishing to see a new video of yours. An update yesterday and now here you are! I had a blast listening to your thoughts on this game this morning, while washing my car simultaneously! That is how I like it. Much love!
This video got me back to when I was just a kid trying to play arkham asylum for the first time and then years later going through an entire weekend playing arkham city with my friend. Thanks for reminding me of those simpler days, Alex. I hope you're doing well too :)
That ending was so beautifully poignant. I felt myself attaching to each and every word you spoke, whether through that beautifully nostalgic lens, or through the more existential prose you utilized. You perfectly captured my own passion for Batman as a character, and Arkham as a franchise. To be the Batman was to truly be Batman - to no longer have to embody all those struggles of daily life, and to instead save the world, even if just in a video game. Thank you for that. It is truly wonderful to have heard somebody else share such a deep connection.
Wow. I just had to leave a comment and say that the way you ended this video really got to me. Hearing you talk about how these characters and the Arkham verse meant so much to you really got me emotional. I really don't know how Rocksteady is going to recover from this, I have lost faith in them as a studio and 204 current Steam players says it all.

I found watching this weirdly hypnotic, just seeing someone talk with such love and passion about something they loved growing up and all the hits and many more misses from something they wished they loved and that could have been great
Wonderful video. When you began to describe what you experienced, as a child, getting the first Arkham game I started to cry. I have had moments like these too and it was so refreshing to see another soul experiencing this too. Thank you for sharing!
Bro, your part about growing up with Arkham hit me so hard in my heart, wtf. I, like a lot of other people, grew up with this franchise. I probably won't play Suicide Squad, but at least with the switch re-release of the Arkham Trilogy, I'm passing on that love of the franchise to my little brother. Excellent video as always, keep up the good work.

All these years later I stumbled upon your new channel's ever since 'Spider-Man PS4 is a Perfect SPIDER-MAN Movie'. Love the content you create, HiTop Films!
The pain in his voice, the passion and grief. I know we are all heartbroken about this game. But I also knew that it would hurt much more after you dropping this video.
Imo this game isn’t canon. My 3 gripes with the game is the utter disrespect of Batman, The JL, and Harley sexually assaulting Deadshot. If the roles were reversed, the entire internet would call for their heads on a spike. Yet, since it’s a woman doing it, nobody bats an eye.
At First I was skeptical that the Justice League would be killed by the Suicide Squad but I thought WB mislead us and that they would Unbrainwashed later, but then when they Announced that this will be connected to the Arkham Series I was one of the few people who saw the Red Flags, then Kevin Conroy passed away and this would have been one of the Last Roles( with Crisis Part 3 seemingly being his Final Role), and don’t get me started on the multiple Delays for 3 Goddamn Years, the Shooting Mechanic, and the Live Server B$, I knew that this would be not just a Bad Game, but a Insult to DC and Arkham Fans that would have loved to see Rocksteady make either a Superman, Batman Beyond, or Justice League Game but now it’s clear that the Original People behind the Arkham Games have left and are given the Keys to New People that don’t understand what they’re doing that would lead this Once Great Company into Bankruptcy in the Most Distasteful and Distasteful Way Possible, Nobody in their Right Minds would want a Game that you killed off Some of your Favorite Heroes in Cold Blood, the Live Server Shooter Angle is a Terrible Game for a DC Game, the Only Good Character is King Shark, I like Deadshot but his Anger with Green Lantern is Doom, this is the Wrost Harley Quinn played by Tara Strong I didn’t like, Captain Boomerang is the Worst Character in the Game, Lex is more Enjoyable than Waller, the Graphics are a Major Downgrade to the Arkham Games especially when Knight was pure Perfection even if the Game is Overrated, the Side Characters are Boring, and is just Depressing and Not in a Good or Enjoyable Way when you Play or Watch, all I can Say is that MK1 and Spider-Man 2 are far better than this Abomination that I wish was Cancelled completely, Rocksteady, WB, Sweet Baby Inc., and DC should be ashamed making this Abomination.
Damn, your personal story with the arkham franchise hit me hard. Amazing editing skills btw. I thought this game will be my breaking point to buy PS5. And then I saw the gameplay…
this game is not an Arkham game.. but THAT IS THE FUCKING PROBLEM. When you tell a group of fans who have a passion for this game that it is part of the universe they want, but not the game they want then kill the characters they loved... what else did you expect? they should have NOT have hyped it as they did. They should have made this game after a few more arkham titles. you can't release an ending to a loved franchise with all of these possibilities of tories OR the open plot points they did.
Im gonna be honest, im not really invested in the DCEU nor the comics, nor the games. Heck i didnt even know this game existed until now, but the hitpo got a way with words which always makes me long for something, his descriptions are always so on point, so nostalgia creating that i can almost feel the moments he is referring to, feel the joy he feels when talking about this stuff. this is what really makes me come back to his channel
The piss joke would’ve worked if Boomerang did it to random monsters, then King Shark would’ve made an attempt on Flash, and Boomerang steps in “Not this one, Mate.” I get that they are brainwashed, but Flash’s whole thing is that he doesn’t always have to throw a punch to win a fight. There’s a famous Justice League Unlimited scene where Flash simply talks to Trickster and he agrees to turn himself in. But in this game, it felt like the brainwashed versions simply wiped out all the good the League did beforehand. It’s like watching a dying person in a hospital bed and calling them lazy and ignoring everything they’ve done in life, because only right right now matters.
Every time i see or hear about this game I just think to myself…… Were rocksteady trying to piss us off? Were they actively trying to tarnish their reputation? Did the dev team just make a bet on how much they could fuck this up? Why? Just….why would they make this? And why did they make it the way they did?
This video was very well done and perfectly articulates the logical reasons for the games failure as well as the more ambiguous emotional reasons why the game failed. And quite honestly the way that you were able to clearly state the significance of the emotional connection to these characters is probably the best I've seen someone explain why we are all so upset. Fantastic job!
17:33 lol her character was assassinated, we don't actually see her change, but are instantly greated by a Harley that can't be 40seg whiteout cracking a joke, thinks her selfmede uniform from AK is bad n sexualized, the Joker was "just a fase" but peoples are like "omg, i'm soo proud of her, that she was capable of moving on and becoming strong and independent" lmao
A little take here, I’m pretty sure rebranding the game as Suicide Squad *V.S.* the Justice League and the concept and story changed to where say… the JL have the opportunity to prevail as the heroes they were once free of Brainiac’s mind control and fighting alongside the Squad. Because that this is the Arkhamverse, it would’ve cleared up a good deal of the backlash and unpopularity this game receives today while also giving Kevin a proper farewell. They did THAT well for sure.
What trully makes me sad is that we all could be playing a perfect Superman or Justice League game right now...but we are not. I must be in a Scarecrow nightmare
There’s nothing tragic about the game except how tragic it was that DC and Warner allowed it to happen. God awful dialogue/banter with the characters, disrespect of the DC property and characters (least of all the Arkham-verse), and what has to be one of the most disrespectful deaths in superhero history with Arkham Batman… And then they had the nerve to thank Kevin Conroy after for everything he had done. I stand by what I said and after seeing this game hovering at around 300 players right now… they would’ve been better off just shelving this game and calling it a tax break. It would’ve been far more respectful to everyone involved.
No offence, but you’re exactly the other end of the problem. Watch this videos first 5 minutes again. Nobody intends to make a bad game. Nobody can Disrespect fictional characters. Kevin probebalt wanted to play an evil Batman cause he’s an actor and actors like doing and portraying different things. Making art is incredibly hard and it’s a shame that this one turned out bad. But wishing it to be deleted into “tax breaks” just shows how much you’ve been brainwashed by angry online alt right spaces.
@@bruhmoment1761 You can't say "no offense bro" then a few lines later say I've been brain washed, most of all by "alt-right spaces". Don't bring politics into the situation, especially for a failed game that began and ended its life as nothing more than a product.
It should've been against the Justice Lords from the get go. Maybe play like Overwatch. That way, they could do a canon multiverse story, add more characters all without being mean spirited towards the heroes.
Well put, well done! Also very balanced and reasonable take. I'm not even as much as an Arkham fan as yourself, but my dissapointment did cloud me a bit when SS:KtJL dropped. He did and that's why until someone fills the shoes he will be and forever be my "Batman"
@@ftrwrwbgindeed and you are right about that
I think he was having a lot of fun with some of the lines, however, I dont think he would've been ok with this being his LAST performance, especially as Arkham Batman, which is one of the most beloved iterations of the character.
@@Jose-se9pu I can also see that being the case sadly
The Arkham audio logs added to the characters’ history and worldbuilding, but were never full of vital information that was necessary to the story. They were cool Easter eggs and fun to hear, but the main story felt complete without them.
the reason why brainiac brainwashed them was one of the most stupidest thing that i've ever read, superman is not that dumb to blindly trust a stranger alien who just landed on earth
@@jackdandy3579 yeah people who only understand Superman on a superficial level wrote that. He’s supposed to be very smart and doesn’t make dumb strategic decisions just to be nice to strangers
@@dynaguy3like Superman can be kinda naieve but naivety is not stupidity and i feel like he would atleast feel sketched out by brainiac and have the rest of the league stay while one of them goes
Thank you and I truly hope you can acomplish with Jason what you hoped to find in this money hungry dumpster of a game.
what was the original vision for the game?

This game honestly could've been it's own unique thing, had it not been part of the Arkhamverse.
Wish they gave us a Batman Beyond, Superman or even just a Justice League game instead.
Facts. I don't know what rocksteady is expecting from suicide squad. They think the jokes are funny, and they think players will like it just because it's supposedly the "arkahmverse"
@@nemesisprime4501Most of the jokes are funny
They must-have been high while making this game
@@OBC24-q8h Honestly if story from the start wasn't killing the Leage but sneaking up to a country and assasinating a poltitical figure for example I don't see why that couldn't be a part of Arhkamverse. But what we got? Definetly not.

Agreed!
DUDE, that was my favorite backhanded compliment. You made it fun.
As weird as it sounds if you were to make a Suicide Squad game you shouldn't try making a looter shooter, you should try making Fire Emblem
because of the perma death?
wait that's really clever
@@NoahToledo-xo5pj Yeah, FE games will also have one or more "essential" units that you need to keep alive to tell the complete story and you can have those be Harley, Deadshot etc. while having more "killable" characters join as you progress like Polka-dot Man, Peacemaker etc.
Actually that’s not a bad idea and I would’ve been fine with that.
Why wasn’t permadeath a selling point of the game? Like the squad here has so much plot armor it became beyond dumb
If they thought this would be the the fate of that game then I’m fine without it
My man sounds like he's about to cry through this whole video
Always.
@HiTopFilms hey! Its a good thing though...the dedication comes through. As a life long superman fan, I'm super tired of the Evil superman trope, I feel you bro
You'd be crying too if you spent $100 for a game that died faster than The Avengers and Anthem.
Yeah and have some of the villains be versions of villains from some DCs famous elseworlds like Superman red son, Justice league the nail, batman gotham by gaslight , dc bombshells etc etc etc with the dlcs grabbing the heroes from that world to stop them
@@jadenbryant9283you forget this game want made for fun it was made to bleed the players money dry.
Making a game called "Suicide Squad Kill the Crime Syndicate" would have also worked and probably would have turned out better since you can do all the disrespectful deaths and less build up since it would be villains killing villains.
@@leviticusprime4904 so it can still be good and be fun bro
Imagine this, ACTUALLY imagine this:
- Open world Flash game where it's so much fun running around
- Open world Superman game flying in a beautiful environment with hopeful themes
-Green Lantern with adventures and lore so creative and adventurous
- Forever People traveling everywhere and are as charismatic as the Guardians of the Galaxy
- Wonder Woman being an ambassador of love with epic combat gameplay
- Zatanna and Constantine in a mature game incorporating magic
- Batman Beyond, where we could've seen Bruce Wayne after Arkham Knight and eventually train Terry McGinnis for a futuristic Gotham
So much isn't being brought to life. The Suicide Squad are interesting as a concept and compliment DC's lore but shouldn't overtake so much potential
Reminder we almost got a batman beyond game
You gotta understand. The studio are the people who make the game. The people who made the Arkham games are no longer there
why did Rocksteady make a looter shooter, are they stupid?
c'mon, someone had to do it
I’m proud of you, Dick
As in Jonkle'
Is there a lore reason why they made a looter shooter game?
Because the Executives at WB (who own Rocksteady.) told them to

The thing that sucked the most for me was when I killed Superman I had no emotional connection to it it was like “oh yeah that was me killing Superman he’s dead now I guess” there was no build up he didn’t feel like a threat at all and the fact a Superman fight had me feeling like that is so bad it’s impressive
Bro the ending 5 minutes had me grinning and crying at the same time. You’re a phenomenal storyteller and you should be proud and happy
Hell a justice league game also would have been a better idea and might have actually worked better with the live service aspect
I think this game had lots of behind the scenes trouble. It’s a shame. Horrible execution.
@@AlexLove631yeah there's a good chance this game could have worked[not having it take place in the arkhamverse would be a step in the right direction] but they just fucking botched and I completely understand why people thought this would originally be a superman game
This game would've been perfect if we the players get to play with the justice league not these low c class dc characters 😂😂😂
Blame Warner Brothers they are killing DC with their awful decisions.
Suicide squad kill the justice league was basically like crushing your childhood dream with the arkham games right in front of you. And worse, they play it as a joke
You can tell there's resentment behind a script when they literally piss over flash's corpse but have an emotional and sad moment filled with pathos when WW dies
And don't get me started on the character entries lol
My feeling is that Rocksteady is either a new gen of devs.
@@terryrocks2j Especially with Sweet Baby Inc's involvement you knew exactly what this would be
To be fair to Rocksteady, i doubt it was their choice to make a game like this considering everything they've given us in the past, theres no doubt in my mind that some executive that only cares about numbers and not about providing an experience fans will enjoy told them it was either make a game like this or nothing for who knows how long. Not to say they cant be critised for what they gave us, but i feel we should understand that they were probably forced to include the "Games as a Service" model regardless of what they made, though i guess we'll never know forsure until like a decade from now when current Rocksteady employees speak about their experience years after the fact like what usually happens
@@theleonpasta7336 People have agency, they shouldn't get a pass for this while working with Sweet Baby Inc and creating a terrible game.
Be like forcing insomniac to make a punisher shooter live service game that they didn't want to make because they want to keep making good Spider-Man games.
Man do ì love your videos...thank you for expressing how we all feel. I legit was depressed and bummed out when I saw how this game played. My son and I had plans of playing this together. We both were disappointed. Great video bro! Awesome job!
I think the "White deadshot was just an imposter" is stupid, because it means that the imposter Deashot was operating for longer than the actual Deashot was, it makes no sense at all!

You explaining growing up with a franchise and first playthroughs/obsessing over every detail in a trailer or promo piece nearly brought me to tears.

I can understand the passion you have for Batman as I have the same amount of passion play all the Arkham games and loving every single one of them please make more content like this it is the best Batman content in all of UA-cam there isn't many good Creator channels like this one and this one has got to be the best you are very talented brother keep it up this is the best UA-cam video I have watched in months
Leave it to Alex to perfectly summarize the heart of a topic and what we love about it - as well as leave me in tears. Well done as always, sir!
The story behind this game in a couple of years is gonna be nuts, like how in the world did everything happen the way it did
We're gonna look back on this game the same way we look back on Resident Evil 6, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Final Fantasy XIII, Fallout 76, Sonic Boom, and Metal Gear Survive.
@BrendanJSmith At least Fallout 76 eventually became good.

I really don't know how Rocksteady is going to recover from this, I have lost faith in them as a studio and 204 current Steam players says it all.
literally every single video you put out makes me tear up. i was never into superheroes as a kid, (they, oddly, kinda terrified me,) but i can SO relate to the idea of something you've grown up with petering out into a sludge of nothingness thanks to corporate greed. keep up the good work!

I found watching this weirdly hypnotic, just seeing someone talk with such love and passion about something they loved growing up and all the hits and many more misses from something they wished they loved and that could have been great
Your love and passion for these characters and worlds always reignite my own. Thank you.

I have been waiting for this video since the game came out. Huge props and hope the Jason work is going good
Imo this game isn’t canon. My 3 gripes with the game is the utter disrespect of Batman, The JL, and Harley sexually assaulting Deadshot. If the roles were reversed, the entire internet would call for their heads on a spike. Yet, since it’s a woman doing it, nobody bats an eye.
They could've did a ultimate alliance style game with the squad and that would've felt more like a suicide squad game than this game.
I appreciate the optimism, because the moment I saw that gameplay reveal trailer I was done. 😂
The tribute to what Arkham meant to you in the last 5 minutes of the video was top notch. Great stuff man.
Always makes my day when a new hi top vid pops in the feed 😁
Heck i didnt even know this game existed until now, but the hitpo got a way with words which always makes me long for something, his descriptions are always so on point, so nostalgia creating that i can almost feel the moments he is referring to, feel the joy he feels when talking about this stuff. this is what really makes me come back to his channel
the endgame tribute to Kevin Conroy is great, but they should have done something similar for Arleen Sorkin as well
The piss joke would’ve worked if Boomerang did it to random monsters, then King Shark would’ve made an attempt on Flash, and Boomerang steps in “Not this one, Mate.” I get that they are brainwashed, but Flash’s whole thing is that he doesn’t always have to throw a punch to win a fight.
I loved this video ! Thank you for saying what's on my heart since the launch of this game.
Every time i see or hear about this game I just think to myself……
Were rocksteady trying to piss us off?
Were they actively trying to tarnish their reputation?
Did the dev team just make a bet on how much they could fuck this up?
Why? Just….why would they make this?
And why did they make it the way they did?
Been waiting for this one🙏🏿

Glad to see you back brother ✌🏾🖤 And with a banger too !!!
5:11 of course Rocksteady made a Suicide Squad game. It was 2016. Suicide Squad was what DC thought would be their future.
To think DCEU caused this and Harley to change.
Crazy how they’re like 5 years late to both Suicide Squad AND Live Service.
3:30 also, Kevin probably knew how they would kill Batman and said “Sure!” So…
This video was very well done and perfectly articulates the logical reasons for the games failure as well as the more ambiguous emotional reasons why the game failed. And quite honestly the way that you were able to clearly state the significance of the emotional connection to these characters is probably the best I've seen someone explain why we are all so upset. Fantastic job!
Hopefully Insomniac will never become like this
17:33 lol her character was assassinated, we don't actually see her change, but are instantly greated by a Harley that can't be 40seg whiteout cracking a joke, thinks her selfmede uniform from AK is bad n sexualized, the Joker was "just a fase" but peoples are like "omg, i'm soo proud of her, that she was capable of moving on and becoming strong and independent" lmao
I still think Kevin Conroy’s Batman was insanely disrespected. He was practically turned into a punchline.
was hoping you’d do a video on it 🙏🙏

Damn, Rocksteady really hired Samoa Joe as a dev... 1:20
The bit about destroying its own momentum makes sense. But tbh man, it’s undercut by all the hyperbolic diction and hyper-dramatic tone.
What trully makes me sad is that we all could be playing a perfect Superman or Justice League game right now...but we are not. I must be in a Scarecrow nightmare
There’s nothing tragic about the game except how tragic it was that DC and Warner allowed it to happen. God awful dialogue/banter with the characters, disrespect of the DC property and characters (least of all the Arkham-verse), and what has to be one of the most disrespectful deaths in superhero history with Arkham Batman…
And then they had the nerve to thank Kevin Conroy after for everything he had done.
There's so much wrong with your reply after that, but in order for me to even begin taking any of it seriously, do me and everyone else a favor. Don't bring politics into the situation, especially for a failed game that began and ended its life as nothing more than a product.
Thank you for this thoughtful critique👍🏻.

Hey Alex , how are YOU doing? I hope you're doing well.
You know I could forgive a lot of what makes the game so bad if the characters would just shut the fuck up once in a while. Every 4 seconds there's chit chat and dialogue that makes me feel like I'm playing the Simpsons Hit and Run featuring Cicero from the Elder Scrolls series.
