  • In this video, I show you how to knit a long skinny scarf with mohair yarn (timestamps below). I know big, chunky scarves have been all the rage lately but I think there is something very elegant about a skinny scarf.
    Pattern:
    Cast on 30 stitches
    Work in 3 x 3 rib ( k3, p3 repeat until the end of the row)
    Every row is the same and begins with k3
    Bind off in pattern

    Hiya! I just want to add that I used mohair for this scarf because I already had the yarn and I do like the way it turned out! But you can definitely try this pattern with a different kind of yarn. As long as it’s not too chunky, I think you’ll get a similar result (:

    I used a heavier 4 wt with 10 mm needles, and I added 4 sts for a 2 st boarder with a yarn over after the 2 beg boarder sts and a yo before the last 2. Love the way it's coming out! Thanks so much!

    truely elegant, I really love it and I'd like to make one for my crush haha
    anw do u have any advices for my case? I find it tends to get loose when I change from knit stitch to purl one and my work kinda wide and, u know u can see there are big holes between them so clearly, it looks so unnatural in my opinion, so I don't know if I didn't do it tight enough or not...

      I love that u are making one for your crush! hmm maybe you can try a smaller needle size? also sometimes it doesn't look good at first but after you have knit a bit more length it looks better. Good luck!

    Really love this scarf and excited to give it a go myself, thank you!
    How many balls of yarn did you use for the full scarf, just one?

    • @menaknits
      @menaknits  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you! I used less than 1 actually. If I were to make it again I'd probably use another type of yarn as well. One strand of mohair and and another strand of something else (maybe wool or acrylic) just to give it a bit more weight and warmth. This scarf did turn out lovely but it's very light and dainty. Anyway happy knitting! (:

    Hey I feel really uncomfortable about using mohair because of how unethical it is, I can't find a good substitute, but I don really know then best places to look, do you have any good recommendations that would work to create this scarf? Thanks so much!

    • @menaknits
      @menaknits  3 роки тому +1

      Hey, I'm not too sure about a replacement that would create the same look for this scarf, but I do think a different type of yarn would still look really nice. You could try looking up novelty yarns, sometimes there are fluffy yarns which might be similar to mohair. My friend who gave me this yarn bought it from hobbii.com/ and they have heaps of acrylic, polyamide and polyester yarn. Not sure which country you're in but often in Australia there is lots of yarn being sold at op shops and charity shops. Sometimes they aren't in their original packaging so you don't know what it is but yeah thrifed yarn is probably the most sustainable and ethical! Good luck with it (:
