Fantastic job James. Watched the entire king build series and what a brilliant finish. Immaculate and I would be sure the clients will be delighted. Thanks for showing us round and filming Roger 👌🏼🏴👍🏼
Cheers Rob and thanks for watching the whole series!
Excellent Job James and Ian you both should be well proud
What a fantastic job! Having the larger archway, then the smaller archway in the dining room, creates the idea that the room is longer than it is, clever!
Thanks Jonathan. 😊
Very nice work, well done James and the boys. Attention to detail shines through on this fabulous house.
I’m sure the clients are extremely happy with their home.
Cheers Daniel, Ian is loving the roofing square and is gagging to use it on our next roof! Many thanks.
No, the video does convey a warm, relaxing environment, one of the first things I got out of it. The kitchen floor and that wooden cabinet in the kitchen with the books in it starts the feeling for me there. Very nice.
Thank you 👍
Really enjoyed this series, fantastic job by James and his team. Also credit to the client for keeping a classic and restored build while using traditional techniques. Well done Roger and Skill builder team
Thank you Stevie, Roger and Dylan put so much work into filming and producing these videos, they are the ones that need the credit more than anyone! We’re just doing our daily work and they make it look even better!
That is kind of you to say so James. You and I have discussed the practical problems of trying to film these projects, really I need to get there almost every day but I have to earn a living. Hopefully we can build an audience for these projects and get to the point where we can do them real justice. It was a shame to miss some of the key stages of the loft conversion but happily I also missed the 38 deg C. heat under that tin lid.
Skill Builder it was super hot so I don’t blame you!😂
Absolutely superb boys 👌🏼🤩
Thanks lads, that’s much appreciated coming from some top notch brickies! If only we lived closer to each other!
I really enjoyed this series, I hope we will get to see more of James in the future
Thank you 👍
Well done James an excellent job well done .what I liked most about it was that it was a honest job with some problems over come . My favourite one was when Rodger interviewed you and mentioned you felt like packing it in . This struck a cord with me and how I was feeling at the time. The job you have done is why we do the job the personal satisfaction and customer satisfaction / experience comes through which ultimately what rodger speaks about a the end construction done with pride ultimately leads to a peaceful house which they are proud of themselves.
Thanks Robert, I have considered packing it all in many times but it’s the only thing I know. I’m still waiting for that ‘big break’ but realistically I’ve just got to swallow up the crap and keep providing for my family the only way I know how to.
James, you are an amazing tradesman. What a beautiful job.
Much appreciated Michael.
Finished renovation and extension looks great. All the attention to detail really paid off. Credit to your Chippy as well James.
Thanks Matt, Ian is one in a million. I am lucky to be able to have him work with me.
Nice job, nice guy and modest with it. You deserve all the extra work that comes your way.
Very kind words, thank you.
Nice work James, nice to see a fellow builder with skills, and who wants things done properly 👍
Thanks Paul, it feels like a slog at the time but the end result is worth it. I’m sure you would agree.
Absolutely mate!! Job I'm currently on has taken what seems like forever, but they all come together in the end.
Keep up the good work 👍
Excellent finish throughout guys well done you’ve earned that brandy 👍🏻
Yeah but James doesn't like Brandy but luckily Roger has agreed to step in on his behalf.
Cheers Roger! And thanks for the comment Robert.
Ive been binge watching these over the past couple of days, quality workmanship very skilled. The house looks great enjoy seeing these start to finish
It's been a great privilege to watch the progress of this build. The attention to detail has been outstanding; almost to the extent that one would believe that this is was a heritage asset. It should come as no surprise to James that he's received enquiries from other nearby neighbours. I'm perfectly certain that he will be immensely proud of the finished job and the client should count themselves very lucky to have found such an exacting craftsman. Thanks must also go to Roger and Skill Builder for filming and posting such interesting content. I'm greatly looking forward to seeing the progress on the attic extension. Thank you!
Many thanks Christopher. Roger and Dylan really are the unsung heroes in filming and producing this content, we are just going about our daily routine but they make it come alive for all to see! (I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing!?!😂)
Excellent job, top marks 👍👍👍👍
Much appreciated and thank you for following the project. 👍
Nicely done .
Thank you Grant.
Absolutely brilliant job!
Fantastic, James is a master and seems a top bloke.
Thank you for having him on Rodger.
Much appreciated, thank you.
I, too, am part of the James appreciation society. Great work sir. Turned out really nice. As a competent - and reasonably experienced - DIYer, it's visible where your professional abilities make the difference in finish. I've had tradesmen in the past where I've been left disappointed knowing I could have done a better job myself. Not because I'm better, but because I'd take longer and be more picky. It's the sign of a true professional that you can offer people the level of finish that you would want in your own home (perhaps even better). No cutting corners, mistakes recognised and rectified etc. If that professionalism is the only thing that sets you apart from others, then it's very valuable. Whether folk appreciate it or not is a different matter, but it's fantastic to see. Thanks, too, skill builder for another great series.
Rico S thanks Rico, that’s really nice of you. It’s definitely all about not cutting corners, as tempting as it may be sometimes it really is always a bad move. One of my favourite sayings is ‘if it’s not right, it’s wrong!’
@@ricos1497 Word for word what I might have said. Excellent comment, especially as DiY I have the time to rectify or research how to get it right or change my mind - which would make hiring someone far too expensive
Lovely work James ...
Thank you Dave.
Great work, looks a lovely finish, well done.
Thanks Barry😊
Loved this series, James is a true Gent
Thank you for watching Alex👍
Awesome work!
Thank you.
You’re a true craftsman James the finished article looks amazing completely in keeping with the period of the original building. If I was the client I would have had an arched door on the end of the small extension to keep the flow of the two beautifully crafted archways. Fantastic job, you should be proud of your work!!👍🏽
Many thanks Matt, the door at the end of the extension was the original Edwardian door and frame that was moved from where the smaller arch is now to its new position in the new extension.
Wow that’s really really beautiful. The decoration, furniture and craftsmanship really shine. I’m from Alberta Canada and where I’m from a building that’s 100 years old is considered nearly ancient. There are few people with James skill set here with the ability to work on older homes like this. Makes me almost sad that I work as a commercial electrician this kind of work is really truly beautiful.
Daniel, that is very kind of you to say. There are tons of amazing craftsmen all over the world and from your comments you strike me as one of them. It doesn’t matter what age of property you are working on just make sure that you are truly satisfied with what you’ve done.
Brilliant stuff guy's
There are still people out there who care about what they do.
Thanks Gareth.
Your obviously a fantastic builder, i think everyone can agree. Since the first video i watched with you in, your confidence in front of the camera has come on leaps and bounds and is a joy to watch! Robin vs James haha
Thank you, it’s very kind of you to say but there really is no competition here. Robin is an amazing craftsman and could easily put me to shame.
Well done fantastic work.
Home looks stunning
Thank you Andrew.
Work looks Spot on 😎
Thanks Tom.
Really great to see James doing such a brilliant job. Great guy, very humble, and highly skilled.
Thank you Tim, very kind of you to say.
I absolutely love the dining room, the paint colour is spot on. It gives the room a very cosy feeling and the sense of calm really comes across on the video. Great work James and team, the finishes are very sympathetic to the original building.
Thanks Edward.
As a builder for so many year i can really appreciate what james and his team have accomplished in restoring some original features in a period property, using reclaimed materials isnt really that easy and the alot of patients are needed in the finish, perfectly executed job good on you wish you lads all the best a carry on doing what your doing
Thank you very much Sam, all the best.
Beautiful work Beautiful home
An excellent job all round, clearly a tradesmen who loves his craft 👍
Cheers John.
Just top class workmanship all round..Loving the features like the skirting blocks..👍🏻
Cheers Richard.

Cheers Barry.
Beautiful simply beautiful, well done all 👍
It’s been a pleasure, thank you Jim.
Beautiful job , well done
Michael, it’s been a pleasure.
A great series and a very beautiful result - such an attractive home. I was particularly interested in the Everhot stove as we’re thinking of replacing our ancient, gas guzzling Aga with one.
Also, nice to hear that James has more work in the pipeline - a very skilled and likeable chap. Hopefully, we’ll see more of him on this channel!
Thanks steve.
Fantastic work James, you will never be out of work with quality and the work ethic you have.👌👌👌👌
Many thanks Phil, that means a lot.
Cracking looking work, looks totally original
Cheers Ricky.
Nice to see young tradesmen like these lads given builders a good name.
Much appreciated although I don’t feel that young!
He's the Bog's Dollocks, Betty Swollocks.

You have a beautiful house James. Didn't know you had this much skill 😁 keep up the great work cuz
Dan, I wish this was my house! Hope you’re well, we should hook up soon!
@@jimichip I'm up for that mate. Been too long.
Seems like such a professional (as does the whole skill builder team). I reckon it would be a pleasure to have any of you guys do work on a project
Thanks Paul. 👍
Nice job.
Cheers Steve.
Smashing.
Thank you.
Absolutely superb! James and Ian you’ve done a fantastic job - you can tell the place has a great feel and you’ve created a space the owner will love for years. Really enjoyed following this series, thanks Rodger and the Skillbuikder team
Thank you Phil, much appreciated.
Qaulity stuff, nice to see a property done to a traditional finish.
Cheers Archie.
As a decorator, I have in the past, got 'stuck' in a street, with so many neighbours wanting me to do work for them. The one ad I have ever placed yielded nothing, so word of mouth is essential.
Tessellater Work gets more work. Sitting in a chair gets despair.
Credit to the building game 👌🏻
Much appreciated 😊
no surprise they have more enquirys, good builders are like gold dust.
Cheers Kevin👍
Ahh, worked so hard no time for a Barnet chop. It's want barbers call Lego man style bro :) really enjoyed this journey/
I love the Lego look😂
Ahh just going over some of the old videos. James boy you will be missed
Nice work James!
By the way did you managed to find out the company that supplied the wooden floor?
Going through a refurbishing at the moment and kind of interested. Thanks
Thanks Vitor,
I will contact the client and find out for you.
Great craftsman, it's a shame you're not in the South West as i'm looking for an apprenticeship and would learn a lot form you.
Matt, if I could move to the south west I’d be there in a heartbeat but unfortunately I’m stuck in Surrey for the time being. Thanks for your support.
Matt
You should say exactly where you are. There are plenty of tradesmen reading these comments and you never know when you will strike lucky.
James knows how to put a house together
I just do as I’m told by the client! 😂 Thanks for the comment👍
Skill 👍🇬🇧
Much appreciated 👍
I have a question ive blanked off an outlet to a dishwasher as we wasn't using it will this be ok creating a dead leg?
Blanking off unused waste connections under a sink is absolutely fine as long as you have ensured it is watertight.
Great work but who painted the edge of the kitchen door 🙈
should be same as the front
Thanks, the kitchen door leads to the hallway which hasn’t been decorated yet so is still in the decision stage of painted or natural for both sides.
Which make of Micro cement did you use
Can you or skill builder show how to cut a loft opening from start to finish please. I want to make mine bigger but unsure how. Thanks ryan

ua-cam.com/video/ijwIU6Y5T9c/v-deo.html one we made earlier
I wouldn’t hesitate recommending James. I wonder how he’s getting on with those shoes???
Many thanks James. The shoes are still in one piece at the moment, I’m sure we’ll release an update on them😂
Fair play I enjoyed all of these vids. Some areas would have benefited from a bit less chat and more action/breakdown/explanation but a good effort all in all. When is the next one starting please?
Hi Paul
It is difficult/impossible to catch enough action. We could not afford to stay there for hours on end. It needs a lot more views to make that possible.
Thanks Paul, tell your friends and bump up the subscribers and views😉
I'd love to be able to afford James 😂
I’m not that expensive, it just depends where you live!
@@jimichip you should start recording your work 🙌
Tom armstrong that’s what Roger has been doing and it is much appreciated. He and Dylan do a cracking job on SkillBuilder so please help to share videos from SkillBuilder and keep the channel going! Many thanks for watching.
goober 😂😂😂
@@jimichip yeah but then we only get one set of videos from you 🤔
Super work, it looks very English.
The Englishness was of the utmost importance on this project, particularly the Edwardian era. Many thanks White Knight.
Hinges are well busy. 2 on that door, 3 on that door. That would drive me insane.
If that drives you insane then your were probably a little unhinged in the first place.
