Yep... that was my grandpa. 💕
It's finally done. I was picking up and dropping this project for more than two years now - it's just so very personal and a roller coaster of emotions. It's made after and based on a true story. As you probably figured out, this video is about my grandfather and me. It's us. As some of you may already know, Amber and I kinda look similar, and then there's Robert Duvall who looks and reminds so much of my late grandfather... so, this was just meant to be made... and vidding wise - I guess this is as real as it gets.
My grandfather was a very special man - he's one of those one in a million type of people and I was incredibly lucky to have him in my life and to have the honor to be apple of his eye. He loved me unconditionally, and he gave me everything and then some more. I could not wish for a better grandfather and friend. I could not even imagine better. So, I was extremely lucky to have this epic bond with such an incredible person. And I'm not saying that just because he's my grandfather, anyone who knew him can confirm my words. Sadly - and still surreal to me to this day - he passed away on June 11th 2011... three days before his birthday which is today, 14th of June.
I could go on and on and on about him, about us, about everything... but I'll stop here. I hope I did our relationship at least a little bit of justice and honored it in the right way... and mostly, I hope he's proud.

I held his hand before the funeral even though he was dead it was natural . I talked to him about how much I loved him and all the memorys. I was complaining his legs we're to long for his coffin and I had a dream that night so vivid , he said look my legs are okay and he held my baby daughter in his arms . I woke up and could smell him . They are with you always ❤❤❤❤
I was home alone when my grandpa died, I was 4 and remember like it was yesterday, seeing him like that still haunts me. Although I was young I still believe it was my fault and I could of done something. So to anyone watching who has living grandparents PLEASE love them, take time with them because before you know it it’s all over, and I will be one of your biggest regrets in life x

One minute in, read your text ... and only crying. Thank you for finishing it in the end. I had one of this grandpa's too. He ended his life after he got his dementia diagnosis with 85 years. That's six years ago now. He said goodbye to me without me knowing it. He asked me to make something out of my life and always help my dad. It made it a little bit easier.... but in the end:
"You really never stop feeling the loss. "
Wherever our grandfathers are, I hope and think they are proud of us because they have always been.

I lost my grandpa at a young age. He was more than a grandpa to me, he was my bestfriend. I was a kid back then but our memories together are still vivid. We did so many fun things together back then. He always had my back and made me smile when I was down. He gave me food and warmth. I love him so much until today. I miss him so bad. I wish we could've spent more time together and say my I love you's and Thank you's. If only I knew back then that we would lose him, I would have spent all my time making memories with him instead of leaving him alone. This is beautiful. I wish I had known my grandfather. I don't really remember. He had a heart attack the day I turned one year old and died from it. So he knew me in a way but I don't have any memories about him. My father told me a lot about him. And I think he was an incredible man. I know he loved me

Last year I lost my grandpa, he was on my dads side of the family and my dad was on a work trip when he passes so my dad couldn’t say goodbye, he always made me laugh and smile, I didn’t see him all the time because I had moved across the country so my mom had to go on a plain there while she was on the plain he passed away..to my papa Steve passed January 10th 2019 I love and miss you a hole lot! 🥺❤️
I'm literally crying right now. My amazing grandpa died 10 years ago, when I was 10. I didn't have a chance to spend as much time with him as I'd like to. However, it was enough for him to have a special place in my heart after all these years. Amazing video, it's very touching but also beautiful.

I am truly sorry about your loss. I lost my grandfather on this past thrusday. My grandmother passed away 5 months before that. This brought back so memories and me cry. There can only be one (or sometimes two) grandfather(s) in life. The time spent with them is precious and they will love you forever no matter what. They are in a better place now. Wherever that may be. One day, you might see them again.

I lost my grandfather barely twelve days ago, and this video, it just spoke to me, hit me in the heart, and made memories surface. The last time I saw him, he hold my hand, wouldn't let go. Actually, i’m crying cause what you actually explain about your relationship with your grandpa it’s the same that i have with mine. I've just cried so much with this video, and even if I don't know you and I live so many miles away from you I can feel what you feel for him. And I feel the same for mine (who live in a different town and now I'm gonna call him because I don't talk with him so much as I want to). Your incredibles bidding skills made this video even better, but the thing I can understand more about this video is love. The memories of him will never be apart from you, and you remember to us, with these three minutes and something, how great a love between grandfather and granddaughter can be. I lost my dear grandpa hardly 3 months ago and it still hurts as much as the first time I heard the news. I live abroad and it hurts to have let him go without one last goodbye. He was 88 when he died, everyone said it was time to let him go, but for me, I still can’t accept his loss. It hurts so bad. I guess this is what they meant by ‘love hurts’.
And after writing this, I realised how many times I wrote ‘hurt’ ... maybe because that feeling overpowers everything else at this moment.
This just made me ball.... this was so me and my Vavô... he passed from cancer in 2007 but it's like yesterday... he raised me since I was a baby and the bond we had was unbreakable... he was my best friend and I still feel the pain.. he never got to see graduate college, or the birth of my 2 kids.. I just miss him terribly... everytime things go bad and I'm scared, I wish he was here to make me smile...
I've had this video resting in the back of my mind for a very very long time now, and I always find myself back here to watch it whenever I think of my grandfather. It brings tears to my eyes as soon as the audio kicks in at the beginning. My grandfather passed away in 2014, just a few hours after I was talking to him on the phone - I forgot to say I love you because I thought I'd get another chance...
This video hits me in such a way that it makes me sad, but also makes me smile. I've always enjoyed looking at your masterpieces but there's something about this one that just really jumps out at me. My grandfather was like my own dad. He would help me with my homework every night and was always there for me.
I'm so very sorry for your loss even though it was a while ago, but I relate to what you're going through. It's been almost 5 years since my grandfather passed away and each year around the time of his birthday (May 21st), it brings back all the memories I had with him. My birthday - the 22nd of May - has never been the same since he passed.

I'm honored that the video, in a way, stayed with you and that it maybe helps you a little bit... and most of all, I am so sorry for your loss - I understand everything that you're saying. And yeah, the video is quite bittersweet since the time spent together and all of the memories are beyond precious and special and will always be deeply cherished, while the loss will always hurt badly and it all left a permanent void in heart and life that cannot be filled or fixed.

I just want to say, I've been a huge fan of your videos for years now. I've watched your style change and develop and it's been so exciting to see what you come up with next. However this is one of the few times I purposely took awhile to watch one of your videos. When I saw the title I instantly had a feeling that this would be something emotionally heavy and I was right, it was. But it is beautiful. Watching this video made me remember all the times I had with my grandmother because she passed, and it sent a lot of emotions through me, which is why I avoided it for awhile but as always now that I've gotten around to it, your work is amazing.
It's blown me away and it told a beautiful and sad story. I may not know you personally and I may not even have the right to say this, but I think your grandfather would be very proud of you, I think he'd be amazed at this video and his memory being honored with such beauty. It may not help, but a joke I made to help me cope with everything when it happened was that I like to think that during the day our late loved ones are with us and at night they're back at the grave yard having a rave, having the time of their...afterlives I guess.

What you did was beautiful, I'm sure your grandfather would be proud. My grandfather passed away almost four years ago and I'm still trying to overcome that. He was so special to me, he was a unique person and I am sure nobody will ever love me like he did. I wish I could have say goodbye to him but sadly I couldn't. Oh, didn't see that coming. You know, today is my late grandmother's birthaday. She passed away a bit more than two years ago and we were really close, so I was very emotional this day about not having her here and then your video popped out... I cried like a baby and even now I'm still sobbing even though this is your story, not mine. But it's really touching and it gave me loads of good memories about my granny, sooo... thank you for that, Tina. Turned out that was exactly what I needed.
