    Thank you so much! I’ve learned a lot from you more than my professors/artists at my college!! Can’t wait to use egg tempera and see the results. It’s really hard to find an artist willing to share all techniques, ores and tools. I’m really happy that I found your channel💗

    Oh, thank You so much for sharing this! I like combining earth pigments such as Yellow Ochre, Red Ochre (Iron oxide Red, English Red), and Chrome Oxide Green with modern pigments such as Phthalo Blue and Pthalo Green, Pyrole Red, Qunacrodine Magenda, Dioxozine Purple and Indantrhone Blue which is more versatile than Ultramarine ! Want to start painting Icons with acrylics asap...

      @@XLM7000 i see, the company i am using rated all the colors to have ***/I Excellent light fastness, and those powerful organic colors are usually for giving some accents here and there and combined with modern acrylic tech should be very archival. Cheers.

    Hello Antonis
    I love your videos and I’m super happy when you upload one. It’s a pleasure to see you painting and to learn from you.
    One question: What acrylic emulsion do you use?

    Hi! A very interesting and useful video! recently I painted an icon that I put imitation gold leaf .. 4 days, until the icon was varnished I had no problem with gold leaf ... But after I gave it with varnish (translucent varnish for boats) after a day it started to stain and green dots appeared over the sheet ... The problem is that I don't know why these stains appeared and I would need your answer to find out the solution ...

    • @AramsYoutube
      @AramsYoutube 2 роки тому +5

      Hi Paul,
      This happens because Imitation Gold leaf is made from Copper+Zinc... and Copper will tarnish either by exposure to oxygen or to AMMONIA... With exposure to air it should take years when those "green" patches start appear, BUT with ammonia exposure it can take even minutes... ACRYLIC PRODUCTS CONTAIN some amount of AMMONIA in them!!! So before applying your adhesive(the leaf glue) wait a week or so until the painting is completely dry, then after applying your imitation gold leaf WORK WITH THIN LAYERS, so the varnish dries as quickly as possible!!! God help! All the best!

      @@AramsUA-cam thank you for your answer! I use a mixture and it says that the gold foil can be applied between 15 minutes and 24 hours after applying the mixture. After another week, does the glue from the mixtion stick to the leaf?

    • @AramsYoutube
      @AramsYoutube 2 роки тому +2

      @@paulhrisca3116 So what i meant is you HAVE to wait for a week after finishing your acrylic painting... and THEN only you apply your glue and wait for 15 minutes until it dries to tacky finish ready for the gold leaf... after that you varnish it with very thin layers after layer giving it time to cure and be QUICKLY dry until applying next layer of varnish. Hope this helps!

    • @paulhrisca3116
      @paulhrisca3116 2 роки тому

      @@AramsUA-cam thank you very much!!! but now is it possible to fix the icon already given with the gold leaf?

    • @AramsYoutube
      @AramsYoutube 2 роки тому +1

      @@paulhrisca3116 it depends on what kind of varnish you have applied... Sure there are ways to just brushing/sanding off those tarnished spots, applying a new layer of gold leaf by following all the rules i have mentioned then sealing over again... the general idea is that Acrylic paints and mediums should be COMPLETELY dry before applying the Imitation gold leafs and then when you varnish allow it to dry very quickly so the ammonia doesn't cause it to tarnish!
