Thanks bud. Just needed to know if it had the remote on off function
Hello, I have a Mevo Start, with the Mevo POE adapter... Everything is configured correctly w/NDI... and I validated that I am connecting to the Mevo Start over ethernet through the Mevo Settings... But when I go into OBS, it's not seeing the feed... I also checked in the NDII Tools Monitor app, and the feed does not show up there either... When I switch the camera to use the wireless network, using NDI... It works fine in the NDI Tools Monitor app, as well as within OBS... It's just when I try to setup the camera to Ethernet over NDI where I am having the problem... and I want to use the Ethernet approach to ensure better throughput, and a more stable connection... any help anyone could provide would be appreciated. Thanks!
Maybe someone will pipe in here, my knowledge of OBS is limited. If no one does, the folks on the Mevo Customer Group on FB might be of help.
Jason, I’ve been appreciating your content recently as I’ve been setting up our own church’s live streaming setup.
Do you think the remote power on/off feature would work if a single usb 2.0 cord was run from a smart plug, then split (via a usb splitter) to each Mevo?
The usb 2.0 cable is limited to 5v .5A = 2.5W which is enough to charge the Mevo slowly.
But splitting it would technically cut that power in half to 1.25W each.
I’m wondering if that’s enough to activate the remote power on/off feature for both🤔
I’m trying to run as few cables through our ceiling as possible. Lol
My first reaction would be no. But what would work is a powered usb hub that offers x.x watts per port. Plug this in to the smart plug and give each mevo power this way. I surely get trying to limit cable runs, I’m getting toooooo old for all that!
Shhhhhhhhh, no talking in the library!
I asked our librarian if we had a section on paranoia. She looked around and whispered “it’s right behind you”.
Good video and we had the same solution as I use a Cradelpoint router in clubs and so forth to assure myself that I don't sit on the house WiFi system with guests. I can power my router with a V-mount battery.
Good call! Sometimes folks don’t realize all wifi isn’t created equal.
@@JasonHoffmanYT Jason I need six of your 3D printed lens caps as I cannot find anyone with a 3D printer.
@@superbmediacontentcreator I can print you some to send out next week.
AWESOME, Jason! We will deploy this same method when we upgrade to multi-cam next month! This makes it all possible.
Great to hear you are going multi-camera!
Smart plugs are also good for setting rules to power cycle routers. In the absence of a static IP, providers utilize dynamic IP pools which are refreshed typically during non-standard business hours (weekends). Technically routers should recognize the new dynamic IP address however it is not uncommon for the handshake to fail and the router to sit idle without a new IP address. Setting up an automated rule in a smart plug app to power cycle the router 8 to 12 hours prior to a scheduled weekend broadcast can help minimize the chances of a failed stream.
Great point! Makes the habit of restarting before a stream something we don’t even have to think about. Thanks!
Thanks for the wonderful idea. Could also work for local charging, and then turnoff when complete, for storage. I have a seven day timer to do somewhat the same thing once a week, to restart my modem and router. Take care.
The timer is a great idea!
