These mothers all look ill. Also because she has no hair, there was very little for the baby to hold on to and she could have fallen off at the higher levels.
I believe that by these chimpanzees being held in captivity it's what's causing the hairless. There's a place in England that has chimpanzees and they're hairless also. More than likely the Chimpanzees' are stressed about living in a confined space. Their natural habitat is the great outdoors and not a scales down version. Even though they are well provide4 and loved, it's nothing like the real thing. 😁👍
Portia Matthews but that’s a part of the big world and the ecosystems that chimps, apes, monkeys, heck- all of us!- live in. They groom each other as a social activity which further cements the bonds they make and insects and stuff help encourage that. They’re living without the foliage of the trees and their natural habitat; complete with free flowing water and having to forage or look much harder when hunting down food which keeps obesity at bay and makes babies stronger and increases their chances of growing into a strong adults who become accepted and protected/comforted by their family. I don’t see a place in this video that the chimps can readily escape to, there is no privacy to safeguard their sense of well-being. They can’t scamper up the trees and settle between the leaves and branches with their babies to be able to fully relax and feel safe in that privacy. I know if I were on display, I would hate the cement and glass prison. It would lead to agitation and stress, so you can imagine what these animals are going through and it makes sense that they suffer from Trichotillomania - they pull hair out like parrots pull feathers out.
