In the late 1960's Colin Pronger (another MB Metals Ltd apprentice) and I worked part time on the petrol pumps at Mann's Garage on the coast road in Southwick. Mann's was a main Ford dealership that was where Montgomery Motors now stands. The man in this video clip was a regular along the coast road, either riding a push bike or a small motor bike (a BSA from memory). No matter which, he would always be impeccably dressed, sitting bolt upright, with one hand on his hip and the other on the handle bars, always with white gloves and often with a cigarette in a holder, but always with a monocle. A true specatacle as well as a real character. Sadly such people are missing today.

I remember him at the worthing roundabout. I was a kid. Called him the funny man. Always waved at him.

I remember him from when I was a kid and we lived in Battersea London-and we to come to seaside for a day out as a treat and we’d see him dancing then we always sounded who he was then

Always saw him on a Sunday along the A27 Shoreham/Lancing way. We used to drive from Brighton down to Ford Market. My Mrs loved to see him and always waved to him as we drove past. 😊

I remember him, we used to wave to him when I was very little. He used to be outside the pub at Shoreham Bridge, he was great. Thankyou, and the song is brilliant and what a great character and memory. They dont make them like him anymore 😊❤ (damn shame)

I remember seeing this local character in and around Shoreham by Sea in the 60s. I recalled he was called Lord Lancing an odd guy, a real eccentric, always impeccably dressed and a harmless character.

Great song and fondly freakish memories. BTW, I hit dislike by mistake...so please ignore. No one in their right mind could dislike this. Thank you, Chris

It's not set in stone just click on it again and your dislike will be removed (you tube allows you to change your mind).

    Did he have any family?
Great tune btw. I remember seeing him too - always wondered why he did what he did. Always wondered whether he was a WWII casualty? Fascinating person. Thank you Horace!
