Mate you are a legend for posting this . I went to this game and remembered 2 things quite clearly about the night . Newtown giving it to Canterbury and the 2 Geoffs , Bugden & Robinson having another go at eachother as they walked off the field for the halftime break and had to be separated . You could sense the animosity between the 2 young Lions . Great times .
How good is this! I remember in the late 1970s even in Sydney the scores and results in some of these pre season Cup games on Friday or Saturday night were a mystery until the next morning's news bulletins or 'stop press' on the back of the newspaper.
The old Henson park. That place could hold 40,000 people. Lucky to get 6,000 per game. At least you could sit in your car and watch it.
Memories of the 80's with "Rocks Messup" (credit to Mike Carlton) those were the days. Colour TV was only introduced in 1975 in Australia.
