Watching this walkthrough with my daughter who is 5. She said "wow, this story is crazy." She was right haha! I don't ever remember it being so goofy as a kid.
Hey Sonic. Long time! To be honest, I never played any of the King's Quests, other than the more modern episodic one. I decided to finally get them under my belt and decided to play the remakes instead of the originals. I think disabling the dead-ends gets rid of all the random encounters, such as the wolf.
Howdy! I played through and compared it. It doesn’t remove random encounters, but it specifically gets rid of situations that would make the game unwinnable without killing you. For example, you can’t lose the main treasures to the dwarf or give them to the troll or rat, as you can’t win without them. The game also won’t let you enter points of no return without the necessary items (i.e. it will encourage you to explore the surrounding area and grab the mushroom if you try to enter the leprechaun kingdom too early). All in all, it gets rid of the frustration of not knowing if you’ve soft-locked the game by losing an item before you need it.
I don't know how, I don't know why, but whenever I get to 2:15, the game won't let me pick up any walnuts. I know they aren't necessary for finishing the game, but I want those points, man!

Thanks for walkthrough! The remake look almost as good as vga version of kings quest 5 in my op! But grabbing that birds claws was a nuisance! 😄
I love this classic game
I would love to know the details of how the "disable dead-ends" feature was implemented. I know the original game was NOT designed with that in mind.

@@jbeast3385 My favorite dead end is eating the magic beans and having the narrator say, "Now why did you do that?!"
wonderful music
