What a picturesque place to put a chapel! Really enjoyed your walk. Like how you saved up peelings to make a soup too- 👍
Happy 2023 both!!
Hi There...glad you enjoyed our walk..the soup was good, i shall be making it again...no need to throw away good nutrious food....thanks Steven
Another cold damp windy day and a lovely walk around from my warm chair in front of a log fire
My friend well done for venturing out on those hills
Both of you 😊👌

Thank you...really appreciate your feedback.
Very interesting movie. I continue to support and leave another thumbs up 👍
Thanks...very nice of you.
Great goal and a great way to start off 2023! You ran in to a bit of inclement weather… nice to have hot soup! I don’t think I’ve seen much of the Yorkshire Dales NP before… I enjoyed seeing the hills and wide open countryside- congratulations on making it 1 of 30! 😄👍👍
Thanks Jennifer
I am enjoying your wonderful adventures. Please take care.💖👍
Thank you so much...look after yourself
Nice video and walk, thank you for sharing. Wishing you a wonderful week. Take care.
Thanks mate
Looks like an awesome place to get out and explore, thanks for the views.
It really is!
Nice trail and area! The nature is beautiful there)I enjoyed watching - thanks for sharing 😊
Glad you enjoyed it
There's nothing like a nice windy walk to blow the cobwebs away. Sounds like one of mine. Your good lady is just as enthused as mine is.😊🙄 Thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to the new series. Happy New Year!!!
Thanks Chris...i thought of you when i reached the trig pillar...in fact i almost did a "Theres me face"
@atrampinthehills.841 that did make me laugh, Steve. I don't know when I started that, but it seems to be me now. It's become a tradition. It started after I watched Ozzy Man.
The Dales 30 that's a great challenge. It's a stiff climb out of Kettle well up to Great Whernside.
A bit windy by the sound of it!
1 down, 29 to go, I'm looking forward to watching the rest.
Thanks for sharing, cheers Alistair 👍
Thanks Alistair...hoping to get back up to the Dales this Sunday to knock a couple more off the list...cheers Steven
Nice exploration
Thanks very much
Good stuff Steve mate, nout wrong with getting excited for the hills, that'll ding dang do for us mandingos ha 😀 Great video pal, all the best Chris 👍
yeah..."Ding dang do"...i can't stop saying that, what have you started?
Great place wharfdale I hope you are blessed with some kinder weather on your upcoming dales 30 challenge 👍👍
I hope so too...
Quite a challenge for you both with project of Dales 30 mountains in Yorkshire Dales. I think the three peaks was enough for me! (Whernside was from Ribblehead side.) What a windy day for your walk. Fantastic landscape in the Dales area.
Thanks...yeah the plan is to walk them all this year, a holiday up that way will help us achieve that...as always thanks for your support....Steven
Well Boble hat's off to you both, straight up the steep side in those terrible winds.
It made my mrs laugh the look on your wifes face in the car.
The Dales 30, a good challenge at our time of life.
Happy new year.
🍻
Hi Dave...thanks for your comment..last year was nothing special when it comes to walking so this year we have decided to go for it...more hills to try and shake off these aches and pains that plague us old buggers these days..happy new year mate.
Looked like a good hike up there Steve, bit of a windy one, but a bet that soup warmed yooze up a treat 👌, nowt better mate , atb Mick 👍
Thanks Mick...the soup was good, a free meal using up all the peelings ..going back up there at the weekend for more walking , can't wait....cheers pal
Happy New Year Steve & Karen 🎉 you were raring to go on this one Steve and what a great challenge, not sure The lovely Karen was quite as enthusiastic 🤭 not surprised with that rain ☔️ on the windscreen! Gosh those rivers are flowing! What 😳 a 🐺 ? That looked like a tricky trig point but well done on bagging number 1! Great way to start 2023 by blowing the cobwebs of 2022 away! Ooo soup looked good what a great idea keeping the veg skins, those must be good containers that keep the liquids and heat in? Enjoyed this walk guys, thanks for taking us along on your Dales30 challenge part 1 👍
Thanks Jill...it's a bit late but "Happy New Year"..its a lovely hill with a nice rocky top, the perfect start to the year...you should try the Veg peeling soup, lots of recipes on the interweb...and it's free as normally the peelings and ends of leeks etc go in the bin...Part 2 to follow tomorrow.
awesome video, the clouds are coming g in, be safe out there you two, Happy New Year, stay blessed
Thank you for sharing your interesting video.
Warm regards and a prosperous New Year,
Peter and Alex from Pete's Wildlife
Hi Peter and Alex...hope you are well
What a day out you had there! Yeah, great ridge indeed and up from a lovely place Kettlewell. I had a pint in the Blue Bell Inn (I think that's what it/s called). 29 more to do then! All the best for 2023, cheers, Warren :)
Thanks Warren.its a lovely walking area...i think Wharfedale is up there with the best of the Dales..there are 3 pubs in the village although we never stopped for a pint as we were soaked though, i suppose we could have stood dripping in the corner...yes one of the pubs is the Blue bell.
Very nice
thanks Naomi
Happy new year Steve and Karen🥳
We really enjoyed coming along on this hike with you, the hills are looking fabulous even with a bit of bad weather. At least you had a bowel of nice warm soup to warm you up 😋 🍲👍. Great new challenge to start the year off with, we will look forward to seeing you complete it😊👍. All the best, Shell and Pete
What a great way to get into a new year than a cracking challenge like this 👍🏔️🏔️🏔️
Looked windy and fresh up there Steven
70 AD it’s amazing how long earthworks can last 🙌🙌
Enjoyed and best wishes Karen Steven for the year ahead and this challenge 👍😊
Regards Simon
Thanks Simon...yes it was a cracking start to the year...Happy New year to you and your family...keep the videos coming in 2023
Really good New Years Day walk Steven & Karen. Liked the start with you both chatting in the car (well in truth, just Steve chatting whilst poor Karen sat there!). Was impressed by the scout building, this country needs more Scouts and other such organisations to get the youngsters away from their bloody screens. If I’m to be totally honest I thought the soup looked awful ☹️ You can’t beat a vegan sausage sandwich on the hill. Weather sounded windy at times but naturally that could have been the result of the soup. Whatever happened to saying goodbye? You younger people have no manners 🤣 Yes a really good film Steve, well done. 👍
Morning Mike...yes rather rude of me not to say goodbye, but we were soaked to the skin and anymore filming was the last thing i wanted to do...very unproffesional i know..by the way, the soup was delicious...yes the hostel looked a great place...apparently there are 40 bunks in there...cheers Steven....and yes i know that i have spelt unproffessionall wrong.
Amazing hike. It was great scenery and views and the fog and wind gave it a very special feeling. That's so awesome about the highest chapel too. Nice to see the stream cascading too. Intense weather. Beautiful ❤️ I subbed too.
Thanks Nicole..it was a good day out...more to follow at the weekend..Thanks for the sub
Picked a good day for it mind 😖 but good to see the rain stooped later on. We eat chicken soup 3 days a week and both dropped over a stone in weight each. Has to be over 20 years since I was last on Whernside, bit warmed when I did it mind, cheers Alan
Hello mate, nice to hear from you...yeah the rain did stop but not for long and we were soaked to the skin by the end...never mind we still loved it...BTW this was Great Whernside and not Whernside...it's about 100ft lower but just as good..Thanks Alan....is it too late to say "Happy New year"
Happy new year Steve, Karen ❤️
Happy new year...Kat and Ceri
@@atrampinthehills.841 watching along now me ole mucker 🥳
Beautiful New Year’s Day hike but very windy! Happy New Year to you
Thanks Leon...we had a grand day out, even though the wind was a bit much at times..Hoping for better weather for tomorrows walk.
Does looks like a nice walk and the start of a great challenge. Soup looks good as well, never thought to use veg peelings 👍🏻
Thanks Cara..yes these hills should keep us busy throughout the coming year..the soup was great, not bad for something that would have been thrown away..
Never used youtube platform like this
enjoyed your videos for a while
great idea for a new years challenge
Happy New year
Cheers mate...glad you enjoyed the videos...it's going to be great fun ticking these hills off the list
Hi both well done for getting to bed at 10 New Year's Eve so you could start this new project, sounds great the Dale's 30 . That soup looked interesting, I've never heard of veg peel soup before 😲 The falls looked so beautiful and so did the old farmhouse, and the whole area that you walked was stunning :) ~ Anna
Morning Anna...we had a lovely days walking...thanks for watching and commenting as always.
What a great walk in the new year, although it’s very windy,I’m sure you absolutely enjoyed it. Love gorgeous views out there😍❤️👍👍Happy New Year our friend 🎉🎉🎊🤗
Thanks...we had a lovely day out despite the weather
Lovely project to start a year with. Happy New Year to you both.
Thanks Olga...it's good to have a project...this should keep us busy for a while
Wild old day in the moors !
Happy new year to you both 👍
thanks ian...yeah it was a bit wild...soaked to the skin by the time we got back to the car.
Happy New Year Steven and Karen. Lovely atmospheric walk to blow away the cobwebs. Yes, you can’t beat some fine hills hey.
I need to get out soon but I’m in bed with the flu. 🤦♂️👍🥾🥾🥃
Hi Wayne...no cobwebs left after this walk...hope you shake off the dreaded flu soon
Number 1 out of 30 great start nice video. It was very windy! Looked like a nice place to visit. This is a great project to have. Happy New Year best wishes for more adventures and a growing channel!!
We did 2 more yesterday, so it's 27 to go...video to follow shortly, thanks for taking an interest...Steven
Good luck on your new project! Happy New Year👍👍
Thanks Anthony....hoping to get back up there at the weekend to bag another
Karen sounds as enthusiastic about the Dales 30 as she did your reservoir project! Well done on getting out on New Years Day. Big rule for us too, we always have to get a big walk in. Wow, look how full the river is, so much rainfall! Watch out for those Whern Wolves! 😂 scouts house where the ducks play football? Lovely trig on your first Dales 30, not much reprieve from the wind up there! Soup looks delicious Steve, have you thought about a cooking channel? Or more importantly a channel that explains how you don’t lose soup in containers like that whilst hiking!? Thats some skill! Thanks for taking us on this very atmospheric New Years Day walk, im glad the Wolves didn’t get you! ❤
yeah Karen did look a bit fed up, but she really is looking forward to ticking hills off the Dales 30 list..tell me you didnt think that we carried the soup around in those containers..heading up that way again tomorrow, hopefully to knock 2 more off...i shall have to see if i can get Karen to smile.
@@atrampinthehills.841 doh! I did think you had carried them in those containers! They would have slopped about everywhere! Brilliant Steve, hope you and Karen have a wonderful day tomorrow. Look forward to seeing it! 👍
Happy New Year 🥳 Steve and Karen. Nice to see you again ❤️❤️ 4:51 this is really cool place 👍. 7:02 OmG 😳 and wowww you made it. Thank you 🙏🏻 for sharing your journey. Stay safe . Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Thanks...nice to hear from you.."Happy new year"..Thanks again
Welcome 🙏🏻
Happy new year to you too! What a way to start the year! 😁👍
I thought you assistant was the Lady, since you're the Tramp! 😂🤣
I also get excited by hills and even more by mountains, but ok, since I don't have that in your backyard, I'll watch your first hill of the year and the série !
Keep going! And hopefully next time you have no rain and less wind. But still being out is always good and it didn't rain the whole time, so you're good!
Have a great 2023! Kaat
Hi Kaat...this was the perfect start to the year although the weather could have been a bit kinder to us...hoping to go back to the Dales at the weekend for more walking...thanks a lot
You're right New Years day is just another day but one to be taken advantage of. Great new challenge and I look forward to all the summits because I don't think I've done except the 2 of the 3 peaks. Looked a good trip away from the crowds even if it was a bit breezy
Hi Paul...Great Whenside is a cracking hill to kick off the project...hoping to get back up there tomorrow to bag another 2...Penyghent and Plover hill.
Happy new year guys 👍 just got to get out for a walk 👌 regards Glyn
Hi Glyn...thanks for the comment mate.
I get excited by the big hills Steve - it's undeniable. I agree with the views steve - they are good but blimey them scours are worth a few quid. That's a substantial property for a scout group. Good going all the way up - hat's off to the lady again. Lovely weather bro - gives us a vibe and makes the soup taste nice. Well, happy new year. See you out there. Mark
Thanks Mark..i always get excited about spending time in the hills, can't imagine life without them, they are always there when needed...Yeah the Scout hostel is an amazing place..i believe there are 40 bunks in there..when not being used by scouts the building can be rented out for other outdoor groups...Hope all is ok mate..keep on posting in 2023
@@atrampinthehills.841 A pleasure Steve. Yeah, the hills are an elixir for sure. Well, you can see that in the hostel to. Me? Seeing a specialist this week about my leg. I'm hopeful.
Happy New Year! Another nice challenge to complete this year 😊 I always like setting challenges like these. Bit of a windy one but the views always make up for it 😁
Hi Yasmin...hard to beat a good challenge
Happy new year to both of you. All the very best for 2023! Love the video, it looks very breezy out there!
Hi Rachel...Happy new year...Lets hope 2023 is a good one.
Happy new year from Australia ❤fantastic video guys love the views 😊🙏
Thanks so much
Hi Stephen mate
Hope you and Karen had a good Christmas and that you have a wonderful 2023
I added a comment on here last night but it’s disappeared.
Good to see you back mate
And that was an epic walk for the first one this year. Loved those atmospheric conditions. And Wolves around too - I could just imagine a Wolf Pack up there - let alone cubs! 😃
Superb place - looked epic!!
Hi Dave..thanks for both of your comments...i am always having comments disappear...hoping to get up there again at the weekend, hopefully in better conditions..Cheers Steven
@@atrampinthehills.841 I bet the views are amazing!!!
One benefit of walking in inclement weather - you have it pretty much to yourself.
Thanks...yes always best to have it to yourselves
Happy New year,
You too mate .
Happy New (ish) Year Steve and Karen! Beautiful countryside. Would love to do that one some time👍 Pity you got clagged in at the top, I'd imagine the views are pretty special!
Hi Des...i would recommend Great Whernside, its a big hill at 2310ft but worth the effort...put it on your to-do list
Hi Steve, firstly happy new year to you both, like the idea of your new project in the dales lots to look forward too, yes i suffer with the same problem of sleeping the night before, bit of a wet cloudy first walk hope the second walk is in more favourable weather, cheers nigel
Hello Nigel...we are going to enjoy walking these 30 hills, hopefully get round to them all in 2023...planning to get back up there next weekend, fingers crossed the weather will be kinder to us.
What a great new challenge! 🗺🧭 watching along with a brew, always excited by hills! Rivers are looking good and full 🌊 🐺
Fantastic way to see in the new year, thank you both, best wishes and happy new year, Ceri and Kat ❤️🗺🧭👍🫖
Thanks folks...this was the perfect start to the new year...bloody knackered last night though...after a rest i could hardly walk....never mind
Nice one Steve. The last time I was up there was 1991 😬. Are you doing the D30 from scratch or just the ones you've not done, filling in the gaps?
Hi Chris..although i have done around a half of them, i have decided to do them all again from scratch, been a bit lazy just lately so i thought this would be a good way of getting my arse out more...i am going to try and do them all in 2023...Great Whernside was a cracking start...cheers.
