A lovely purchase Joseph, great spec, power and the unrivalled Volvo seat comfort and safety. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh. It also seems to be the UA-cam car to have now as Auto Alex has just purchased a Saffron T5.. but not quite as tidy as your car.

I feel this is just the car for you. A sporty GT cruiser that is quite capable of everyday driving.
Even the jumper you are wearing matches (or at least very close to) the exterior colour!

I agree it's perfect and so rare in this specification, Mr. Lloyd has stuck gold.
Yes, the jumper was an accident, but it worked quite well. The rear visibility is appalling, and the turning circle is rubbish, but it's definitely a car we enjoy very much.
The C70 to have is the 98 2.3HPT coupe. The only thing that I really despised was when both of the window regulators took a 💩. When I had mine last it was 2010 and the fix was 3K$. Only fix then was new regulators. I’ve heard there’s rebuild kits now available for them. Car was totaled unfortunately. I still have the original ski racks never used I bought the car from someone that got every upgrade and amenities available for the car. Had the 18in BBS Tritons that I tried to get before the car was taken but no such luck. Also had the gray interior which was super rare for the 98’s. Miss that car, virtually impossible to find that car specked the way it was in any kind of condition especially now. Well done video hope you enjoy it.

I’ve literally just watched Autoalex’s review on the C70 he just bought for £500 so your No Budget Review is excellent timing.
This video was recorded on 2nd November, well before Alex would have bought his, I think. These C70 T5 Coupés are extremely rare, probably around 29 remaining in this country, and we will be having a go in another one soon, I hope.

Mr. Lloyd, please keep the C70 Coupè with full Beige Leather Interior with Alcantara inserts and wood trim, coming. Absolutely love this car, suits you ever so much, will you be looking into some paint correction at some point? As for the sticky switches, I believe some of the control knobs and switchgear from the 850 is a straight swoop replacement. Yes very pleased to see a car so rare in your ownership.
Thank you, sir! The 850 controls are different (you will see in the No Budget Reviews episode that I filmed last week), but the S70/V70 P1 controls are extremely similar. I have done over 1,000 miles in this car since I picked it up on the day I filmed this, so we may have an ownership report coming up at some point.

Excellent doing sterling service already, that's good if those switches are similar without the sticky texture. I really like the design of the interior, that Alex from Car Throttle, has bought a C70 on his own channel, and he wasn't to kind about the interior, but it's the same guy who removed a radio from a V70 with an Angle grinder, tragic to watch actually.
I agree that it suits Joseph to keep it...!

@@lloydvehicleconsulting here in The Netherlands not so extremely cheap, but still cheaper than a comparable V70, due to the lack of versatility. But this may change in the future.

Thank you! This car seems to have all the extras apart from the heated rear seats and the parking sensors. The rust spot is weird, strange that yours had gone in the same place too.
The plastic trim scrapes the paint due to vibration, leading to rust bubbles.
@@mehrzahl2219 , yes, I imagine so, I found the same on the manual C70 T5 I filmed today.
@@mehrzahl2219 I am not so sure… they always rust drivers side above the b post (in the Uk) no rust on any other car I have seen apart from This location… three out of the three. I reckon it’s a sunroof drain and rusts from the inside. I need to investigate at some point.
This is just a great car for the money despite it's flaws. Wouldn't mind something like this myself.
If you don't need a T5, then these are definitely available for No Budget Reviews money relatively easily, sir.
Useless but interesting fact: In New Zealand OSCA (Open Saloon Car Association) racing, David Agnew raced a space frame special with a C70 body - powered by a Mazda Rotary! It was colored beige!

@@lloydvehicleconsulting A serious racing program in Europe with DTM might have raised the profile of the car though, even if it involved a wildly overpowered space framer spy car (Saint humour not intended!) not really representative of the road car. Look at the Supra in Japanese GT around that time! Made the road car very desirable!

Very very nice looking car Sir. Good honest clean condition, lovely clean engine bay, immaculate boot & beautiful interior. Probably the very Specification you would have chosen yourself from new. My lady wife’s favourite colour is purple
The rear bumper is quite badly cracked, sir, the lacquer is peeling quite badly in places, and it has quite a lot of scratches, but it isn't too bad for £1400. I wouldn't have chosen the exterior colour (there was a nice dark green available), but everyone else seems to like it.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting Oops forgot about dark green. Very good buy & hopefully that means the paint is fairly original, I prefer original paint personally. It’s only cosmetics & 🤞 the bumper can be repaired. Hopefully Mr Coleman has sorted your mechanical jobs

Useless but interesting fact: Volvo considered a C70 based V8 racer for the 2000 DTM. They got as far as having Zakspeed build a prototype but for one reason or another it never got off the ground and raced.
They did have a V8 engine, actually. I think it was only ever used in the XC90.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting Yeah Volvo later used in in their Australian V8 racer in the 2010s. The original DTM project I speak of was probably canned by Volvo's then Parent company Ford. Strange as DTM was only contested at the time by Audi, Mercedes Benz and Opel, so there would have been no merged company conflicts of interest. Bizarrely that New Zealand racer I speak of was built around 1999 and probably used the DTM car as a template, body work wise. New Zealanders take their homemade racers very seriously...
Needs a manual swap but other than that great cars. I've got a saffron c70 t5 with the black interior and black roof lining. Amazing and underappreciated car to the general car public who dont know about the t5s
Yes, very rare as a T5 Coupé. The nearest estimate I have seen is around 29 left in this country. The other engines and the convertibles are more common, of course. As the car was only £1400 including fees, we will not be doing things like cosmetic jobs or swapping out the transmission, particularly as the automatics actually seem to be slightly rarer than the manuals, but the cambelt and a full service have just been done. It has covered over 1,000 miles since this video was recorded on 2nd November, and I already have plans to film a manual T5 C70 in the works.
