omg, thank you!
With your loving care and plant expertise those plants are going to make it. Without a doubt! Thank you for sharing.🌿
PLEASE do a follow-up on your efforts with these plants. I am in Texas where temps exceed 100F and I am really nervous about being able to keep it moist enough. I can only assume that yours died and that is why you didn't do a follow-up video
I love that you rescue plants! I do that myself & I have a great collection of healthy plants now for very inexpensive because of the poor clearanced out plants to the side had someone come along and snatch them up & give them a little TLC to bring them back to life! Great video:)
Interesting rescue mission. Will be watching to see if they survive.
Thank you and I am really hoping I can save these. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
You're a star to rescue these three lemon Cypress. I've learnt something today, as l would have passed them by. Hope they all recover beautifully 🤗
If anyone can save them, it's you, and at that deal, I know you'll try your best! They sound interesting.
Thanks so much for your vote of confidence and I sure do hope so! I am keeping my finger's crossed. They are very interesting plants/shrubs. I never even knew that they had cypress that smell like lemon...that within itself is amazing to me...not to mention that they are great for topiaries and bonsais. They really do make for quite an ornamental plant. I am keeping my eye open for one that is healthy so that I can have it all set to go for the holiday and beyond.
hi maria, please help me 😭 my lemon cypress is dying. i don't know what I did wrong. I put them in my house beside window and water them everyday. they slowly look brown 😟 *sorry for my broken English :')
I would take the dirt and roots snd cleaned off of the dirt. The leaves can not get the moisture duevto notbbeing able to breathe. Simply just pull off any roots that look rotted then repot in clean soil.
The ones I saved were bone dry. So after removing and loosening the compacted roots I soaked the root ball in a miracle grow water solution for a day. Some of the bown parts soaked up the water.
I then dried out the root ball beforecrepotting in clean sterile soil.
It upsets me when I go to these stores and see the dead and dieing plants because of over or under watering. What is the point of having a plant section if you don't have people that know how to take care of plants working for them. They might have a bigger profit on their plants if they took care of them properly.
Yes, Yes and YES! Why have a plant section and majority of your plants are dead. It is just sad what kind of condition some of these places are in...it really does make me feel sad when I see so many dying plants. You would think that it would hurt their profit margin...but the loss must not be big enough for them to care...it is just such a shame...I'm almost scared to look in their plant section!
@@PictureMaria1 Yes I was in one about a month ago and saw a plant I would love to have but I was inbetween paychecks. Yes I even check them out when I don't have money. But when I went back a week later when I had the money the plants were dieing already. I have gotten a couple of orchids there at the regular price of 17.99 but most of the time I will wait till they go on the clearance shelf for 5.00 because I know how to take care of them and bring them back. Everytime I go into one and see the plants I think how much I want to work here. I once was told by a person that was working in the plant section of Walmart that they have to water the plants when they are told to not when the plants need it. I have gotten plants before that you could turn the pot on it's side and have water run out. I always take those home wash and soil off and replant in fresh soil. Never lost one yet
@@karenbreeze1543 Ha ha ha! I always go eye shopping when my plant budget tank is on empty. We just can't help ourselves! I have found some pretty awesome plants on clearance before and always check them out before I actually start plant shopping. There are some cases where all they need is a little T.L.C. and they spruce right back up. So you are saying that the employees actually said that they try to water even when they are told not to. WOW! That's even sadder...to have to literally watch the plants dying because you are not allowed to water. That would make me miserable! I would probably end up sneaking water from home just so I could water them. I am glad to hear that you have been able to rescue all of the plants that you have gotten on discount. I believe you have a certain bond with the ones you know you saved...it seems as if you never forget which ones they are too. Stay awesome my friend and keep the plant party GROWING! P.S. Happy Holidays!
Thank you! I totally understand your reaction (I would have done the same)! I think they have a chance... in your magic hands, even more! Let us know, love from Italy
Thanks so much for understanding and for your vote of confidence...I really am hoping that I can save them. I instantly bonded with them when I seen them and I just couldn't walk away. I would've felt so bad if I left them behind.
@@PictureMaria1 OMG 😱 !! I bought myself one of those gorgeous lemon cypress tree, and I’m not lying with in a week it started to dry, the foliage feels dry and crisp although it looks green. I took it out to my back yard removed all of the packaging and sat it on a table and left it there for about 3 days. I brought it back inside but isn’t any better. The temp in my hose is between 65-70 degrees so I don’t know it could be a factor too. It’s so sad because I wish I could save it and enjoy my cutie for year ....😦😧😪
@@PictureMaria1 were you successful in saving thieve babies?!
That is why I rather support my local plant nurseries. Most actually care and specialize in plants so I trust them more. ^_^
What happened with these lemon cypress trees? I am trying to figure out if mine can be saved. 😞
my lemon cypress is on the verge of dying and im wondering if this helped and how your reviving process went?! do you have any tips on what i can do as the base of the plant is starting to brown all the way up and the greenery is also slowly browning and losing colour ):
I am so sorry to hear about tree. Unfortunately I was unable to save these. They were too far gone. Upon further research on this shrub it does state that if this plant goes without water for too long it can become too sickly where it is almost near impossible to save. I am wishing you the best with yours and I am hoping that you are able to rescue it. Please keep me posted and I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Wow... Those are screaming for help for sure.
I know...they look so pitiful. I swear I could hear my heart crying inside when I first saw them. 😢
Watching your video give me hope for my Lemon Cypress that just got dry out under the sun...I was told that it likes full sun! Guess not...
OH NO! I do hope you are able to save it! Mine was too far gone unfortunately. I looked all over for them to try and get another one and haven't had any luck in locating one. I do love the delicious scent that it has.
@@PictureMaria1 just saw three at my local Albertsons which is a grocery store in Texas related to Tom Thumb. It is end of May. Not knowing how to grow it I just bought one. They were on sale half price...
They do like full sun, but not st 100 degrees. A shady/partial sun area would work fine.
Please help me, I don't want my lemon cypress die
I may need your help. I bought 20 elwoodii Lawson cypress trees at dollar general. They didn't know they were real, because they were sprayed with fake snow. I bought them for a dime each in January and they were NEVER WATERED. They were on a floor shelf
I’m trying to save seven Elwoodii.
Were you able to save yours, found mine at a Dollar General as well.
They came from a nursery in Pennsylvania. I’m in Nebraska.
I asked the store clerk how they got them, they said came in on a truck.
Funny, because I had not seen them until the day after Christmas.
I couldn’t just leave them there.
Thank you!
Geez this woman took her own time to get to the dang point
Good luck, lady!!
Thank you we’re going to need all the luck we can get.
Unfortunately I had 2 baby cypress trees die on me.
They didn't have enough moisture. I wish I tried learning more about them.
I’m trying to rescue seven Elwoodii, found them on December 26. They were severely dehydrated.
I’m have taken all the dry off that would come off.
I’m not sure if I can save them, but…like you, I couldn’t leave them there.
I’m curious, we’re you able to save them?
I wish you'd go into detail how to save a dying tree. You don't take out old soil? Soak in water w/ a small amount of h.p. ? And add new well draining soil?
There in good hands , they will spring back 🌲
I would keep them in the shade Maria , for two weeks
YOU GIVE ME HOPE,!!!!!!
That is awesome... hope the size of even a mustard seed can move mountains. Thanks for watching and HAPPY GROWING!
Thank you. I'm trying to revive my nephew's ...
Maria; Mix up some Green Food Coloring in a spray bottle with "Wilt-Pruf" and improve their look immediately.
What an interest idea...I may have to try that one day. I will definitely keep that in my back pocket! Thanks!
Todd is right. Get all the dead stuff off so the green can see light. I have done bonsai for over a decade and have a lot of experience with conifers. If a conifer branch has no green on it it is typically a dead branch. They don’t usually bud back like other plants. They like a lot of light. 50/50 shot hear as I noticed what looked like some viable green in the interior.
Thanks for the insight...I didn’t know you did bonsais as well. So they don’t normally bud or branch out from original branches? Will they grow more branches from the trunk then? I’m glad to hear that they may still have a chance.
Being a cypress it may bud back from the trunk This cypress variety needs some cool winter weather to be healthy but you should be ok for that outside in your usda zone.
@@charlesmckemie8921 Thank you, keep your fingers crossed for me please.
I will. As long as there is green there is a chance. Mist the foliage also as conifers take in water through their foliage as well and it keeps the humidity high around the plant and that discourages spider mites
Seeing this one month later . I hope they are doing much better now
No they are not!!! I made every attempt...but they went down hill fast! It is true once these go without water for too long a trip to the cypress pine grave yard is almost certain...sniff...sniff...teardrop 😭😭😭
I got one yesterday ty for Sharing
Prune the dead stuff off, hit um with seaweed. They might pull through, they're good for bonsai.
Thank you, I’m waiting for the roots to dry off a bit before I touch them up with anything. Do you have any bonsai videos? I wouldn’t mind learning the craft. I always admired them when we were stationed in Japan.
@@PictureMaria1 I have a couple bonsai in training, I mostly focus on frankincense & myrrh trees and other crazy exotics... Just planted chocolate trees.
@@PictureMaria1 Nigel Saunders The Bonsai Zone is one of the best bonsai channels, he's good.
@@toddstropicals I checked him out and wow...he is quite a master at what he does. His knack and know how of creating these works of art is amazing...thank you for sharing!.
Can I ask what you mean by hit em with seaweed? I just bought v tee we on plants at Lowe’s the other day. Not quite in this bad of shape, but one is very brittle.
try to save them and just know you did your best, they do look pretty sad! good luck
can a lemon cypress stay alive even while i do the repotting the soil is porous on it's roots?
Yes Maria, when I go into these big box stores I try not to go into the garden center. I just get very upset too with the improper care of the plants.
I bought some cypress from the grocery store for .25 cents. One is a lemon cypress, it's prickly, crunchy and looks like it's been painted and the other one is a european cypress, it's looking okay I'm hoping I will be able to care for it. I have no hope that the lemon can be recovered. Especially if it's painted over. 🥺
So it could have been over watering that did it? 🤔 Now I'm scared I might kill it 😱, but if I get a draining pot will it be okay?
Atsuuuup 🙏🏼🤚👍🏻
I have one of those, they have have beautiful light green foliage. They are not drought resistent and they suffer if not watered enought, I am sure they started watering when they showed signs of yellowing, dreadful !!!
Fingers crossed, hopefully you will recover them.
I didn't even think of that...and I think you are absolutely right. They didn't start flooding it with water until it had dried out and turned brown and by that time it had already practically succumb to death. I have heard how finicky they are about having their water and I really don't know if I can save these...they really look so sad. I just couldn't leave them behind. How long have you had yours, how big are they and where do you keep it at?
I really hope I can rescue mine...but if not I do plan on getting another one (in prime health) because I do love their beauty and fragrance. It really smells too good. I just have to be cautious of our very hot summers. Because I also have a read that these like to stay somewhat on the cooler side if possible and Florida...well you know how Florida is. LOL! Thanks for watching and sharing your Lemon Cypress experience with me. Yours sounds so beautiful.
@@PictureMaria1 I have had mine for a 5 or 6 years but it has not grown much because it is a slow growing conifer. I keep it in a very large pot and it gets sun only early afternoon for one or two hours. I would prefer to keep it in the shade but had no other suitable place for her. I realized how finicky it is with too much hot sun and less water because a friend of mine had hers die. She had several in fact and they kept dying because of lack of water (she has a large garden and had them in the ground in full sun and she would water them only when she came on weekends...)
@@FernandaNascimentoOrchids Thanks so much for the information! If you ever get a chance please do a video on it or include it one of your vids. I would love, love, love to see it!
@@PictureMaria1 Sure, I will include it in one of my next videos, with pleasure !!!
Hi Maria, I just have sent you a video of my tree to your channel email...
My fingers are cross and a hope and a prayer
Oh thank you dear friend...I am so hoping so badly that they survive!
@@PictureMaria1 I lost 4 of my orchids don't know what's going on with them very sad
Did they survive? I’m hoping I can do the same for my dying cypress!
Unfortunately they did not. They were too far gone. I found out later that once this starts dying back it is almost impossible to save. I am so sorry. It would be easier to get another one. I myself have not been able to find any more of these but I will continue to look out for them because they are lovely little shrubs with a delicious and calming fragrance. I just loved them. I am hoping that you are able to save yours but if not I am hoping you will be able to get another one.
Did it work???
Did they burnt them with heat to make the outside that brown? How do they make something like that? Those poor plants!!!
I guess there is always some sort of plus side to these businesses that either neglect or over care for their plants. The plant lovers get major discounts. I’ve gotten a lot of plants that way. Mostly cause I wouldn’t bother buying them full price.
LOL!!! Your right...I guess that’s another way of looking at things. It’s just sad seeing the ones that are so bad off you know that they can’t be saved. 😭😱😰😭
I really had to wait 8 minutes for the information I was seeking.
Is these plants survived ? Plz let me know I am currently seeing my cypress dying
Unfortunately these were to far gone for me to save. It is said that if they have suffered to badly they often times will die. From what I have heard these like to stay constantly moist but not drenched. I am hoping you are able to save yours as they are beautiful trees/shrubs.
@@PictureMaria1; sorry yours didn’t make it. 😔
I’m trying to save my seven Elwoodii that we’re left for dead.
🤷♀️ I’m trying. 🤣
Wow
Unfortunately...they were too far gone. I tried my best but they did not survive. 😭
Can you show us what. Has happened since the video post I
Sooooo i interested I have the same plant my mom bought me for Christmas and it dried out so I took it out rinsed it of all dirt and submerged it in water for about too weeks and it got better the. My mom took it out and put it in dry soil and did not water it for too or three days and now it worse I’m trying to rescue it
I’m sure you got this 😍😍👍👍
For anyone with ADD switch playback to 2.0x to listen to this.
Gonna have to put the Miyagi on those. First rub your hands together for dramatic effect do then do what Todd said.
HA HA HA!!! I know it’s going to be a lot of work trying to bring these little guys back...but I’m going to give it everything I got.
Did you manage to save them?
Did they live in the end or?
I just planted one of these trees and it's well on its way to looking like this. To much water 💧 i think.
If anyone can do it, it you! 🥰
What is the update video for this?
Updates please on what happened onwards.
What is the result?
Sooo??? Did you save them???
Alas, I did not. I tried everything I could but they were too far gone. 😭
