Nice video! I am I’ve completed my MS1 and 2 years. I recently got accepted to a near by college, hopefully I’ll be a MS3 soon. Thanks for the tips, and that’s awesome that you have your Airborne wings!!
For grades- Jump on papers and projects early. Learn about the circadian rhythm and when your personal up energy periods are. Experiment and find out whether you primarily have a case study learning method like law or business school, a more mathematical style such as really liking PowerPoint slides which outline material really well, or more rarely, visual thinking such as that which an engineer or artist might use. It’s great to develop secondary strengths. However, when possible, you want to play to your strength(s). And, go to the occasional lecture outside your main fields of interest. Colleges and universities often have all kinds of interesting speakers traveling through. You can’t make all of them, but try to catch some. And, best of luck everyone. 🌈 🚵🏽♂️ 🎸
Awesome video! Planning to do ROTC at my local University and hopefully, in my Freshman Year get the desired scholarship benefit. I have been thinking recently of having a short military career around 6-12 years so I could possibly qualify for SF in the Army, mostly the Green Berets. You should make more videos of tips and tricks for becoming a quality like an officer in the Army.
Thank you, once I commission this May I will be making videos following my officer career. Just subscribe and wait. :) Some videos will be travel vlogs and military videos.
I love the deeper meaning behind what you're saying, like "Try your first year" can be misconstrued as a trial run, like don't contract your first year.. but you meant really TRY. Dont half ass it. Also "remember to be a student;" what you you mean is remember to actually have a good time. Don't burn yourself out constantly doing ROTC stuff. Very solid advise bro.
Literally mean and my homies always complained about how others didn’t understand this. Life moves fast and you have to sit back and take it in. Don’t take everything so seriously
So how else can I pass it because I’m planning to come back to ROTC in Hawaii so how else can I pass it are their like exams I have to take like how to assemble a rifle and how to clean it to make sure it’s not jammed and what else would I get tested on ? When I’m in ROTC when I’m like MS1 and I go to MS2 all the way to four years will their be anything else I need to know when taking this course like how many feet I’m gonna tell the pilot to go when looking for someone? or knowing where to put the Artillery’s and stuff like that ?
ill be starting ROTC this spring in 2020 after I switch over to national guard status after being active for 4 years now, How did prior service fair in ROTC ? did they help the other cadets ? Great video btw !!!
Yes it did help the other cadets a lot, some of the prior service cadets didn’t help others and some did. Just remember that most of the other cadets won’t have any military experience so don’t get mad or sad when people are slow.
Youll go to basic and ait first, then join ROTC. Youll contract ( raising your hand just like enlisting) basically a contract with the US Government saying you'll serve your time after you graduate. To contract while you are in the reserve or National Guard you need to get a couple of documents signed by your leadership. Once they get signed you'll be apart of the SMP Simultaneous Membership Program. This means you'll get paid to go to drill soon and you'll receive a monthly stipend from ROTC.
I’m currently a sophomore and an e-4 in the guard, looking to join rotc when I transfer to a new college. Any advice? What’s PT like and how important is it as it relates to merit?
PT will depend on the university, some colleges do really hard pt and some do relaxed pt. At my school it was important if you were trying to be the top cadet. And only because the top cadets had the best grades, awesome people skills and amazing all around. When you join ROTC just know it is different from the real military.
ROTC is VERY different than the real military. I am going into my ML3 year this fall. I joined ROTC after enlisting in the Reserves. It's a big difference, for sure. Everything you do is expected to be better than everyone else. Officers should meet the highest standards and your battalion will expect that from you. Since you are what ROTC considers prior service, you will be just fine! You'll get along famously with some of the officers and NCO's and even civilians who are prior service in the battalion. I know I do at my battalion.
I have a question, do I need to buy my own uniforms? I am in the process to enter ROTC and honestly this motivated me a lot more. Thank you so much for the video!
If you want to become a general then stop thinking like a soldier and think more like a politician. The only way to raise up the ranks in “peacetime” is to play the system
@@eagles2249 Okay. I’m a E-2 in the Army National Guard, but I do have big dreams of becoming a 4 star general in the United States Army. Hell, who knows, I too might be the next Army Chief of Staff one day. Yeah, true enough, it requires a lot of hard work, dedication and commitment, but like what you said, if I play my cards right, and continue to do what I love to do the most, then I will have a chance of becoming a 4 star general in Army. They say it’s not gonna be easy, but hey, it doesn’t hurt to give it a shot.
@@malcolmmitchell7207 yeah I just hope you are ready for the bureaucratic hell and if you arnt the type jumping on grenades then its gonna be a long road. But if somebody has done it then you can too. Just dont fuck up, everytime you think of doing something stupid remember that

This might sound silly but if you stay in ROTC all 4 years and get commissioned do you automatically become a 2nd lieutenant or is that spot earned?? I will be in ROTC this fall as a freshman
You dont have to do 4 years. You could do all 4 years and commission. Some people do it in just 3 years or even some in just 2 years. Say you just finished your sophomore year and you wanted to do ROTC ? They will send you to basic camp for about 30 days to grasp the basics in Fort Knox. Since you want to do all 4 years you dont have to do basic camp but it is an option for more experience and you can get paid for the trip.
Once you get into your second year you contract (raise your right hand 🖐 for the constitution) which means as long as you pass your classes and training you will commission as a 2LT.
I am currently in the army active duty stationed in Germany and I want to commission in the rotc program. The only thing that’s holding me back is the fact I can’t swim. Any tips
I would recommend just going to the pool and getting comfortable with swimming. We only did survival swim test one time in ROTC. I can’t remember what year. But when we did we were good and I never had to do it again.
I went to basic training. But I can imagine you will be screened to make sure you are up to date on certain shots. They will make sure you physically fit. Don’t over think it too much
Make friends with cadets that know what they are doing in the program. Try to always be willing to learn. Just be nice and read army regulations, ask prior service guys about their experience. The best thing you can do is be a sponge and learn. Also, know when to be a follower and when to be a leader. Good luck
Yes, they work and hand and hand. You’ll be taking a class for ROTC every semester. You’ll have one big training exercises for ROTC in a semester normally .
I would have drill just like normal still, but I was getting E-5 pay at drill once I contracted with ROTC. Also after I became a cadet, I started shadowing my PL instead of doing enlisted taskings.

That will depend on the school. My school gave uniforms to cadets who were not contracted. It just depends on how that school is.
