Next time you ever need to drill out bolts that are blunting your bits, there is a good chance you're drilling a material similar to stainless steel. For stainless you need a very slow drill speed and I mean very slow 60 rpm ish. Then you add a cutting lubricant such as Rocol cutting compound. It will amaze you how effective this is. I know this is too late but still wanted to share.

Get you some cheap eBay tungsten drill bits, it’ll save you from all those dead drill bits. I feel like map gas and hammering a 12pt socket to those bolts would of worked tho. If I remember correctly mk4 2.0 heater core flanges are a 90* to be out the way of the turbo. To be fair that turbo would of came out with all and the exhaust manifold attached, you would of had to remove more stuff around the turbo. Glad you succeeded

Thanks. I love seeing others struggle with "that damned bolt." I am sure your off-camera commentary was not as PG as you typically keep your shows. Good work in this one. I will be adding a few things to my toolbox after watching this.

I tried the same thing...this is why u should do the rods at the same time. Take the head off the engine as its easy to ditch the exhaust manifold and old turbo rather that trying to cut it

OMG ! I know so much theses fighting, with discouragment, and often with a single bold, althought all the others things goes nice.
You convinced me that the long rounded allen are a must have tool.
    Next buy.
And yes go to the 249 delete. I did that + oil catch can, and it’s definitly ok !

Do yourself a huge favor and invest in some antisieze... also try and source some copper nuts... will make your life easier in the future... BTW... when drilling bolts etc .. use some cutting oil.. will save your bits from dulling as quickly

You can buy corrugated heater pipe that I use on heaters, and you can buy the same type of thing for air intakes, for brakes and so on,
Mostly you will find these in hardware stores , what this allows you to do is shape the pipe to whatever angle you want, and then you can transfer this to the pipe that you need to make as a template , or if you just want to get the distance between one Park and the other just use a piece of rubber pipe to get the distance and the shape you need just so you can get the right length, videos. Good luck.

@@HunterDirection gotcha, I’m able to get it at my local Walmart and Autozone. With the heads being rounded you could’ve cut a strait line across it and turned with a flathead. A socket flathead works best for those situations. If you haven’t subscribed to Project Farms yet it would be a good idea. He does all kinds of testing, one of which is getting stuck bolts unstuck using different penetrants.

Bit late now but I removed the stock turbo three times without removing the manifold. Don't ask what my forearms and hands were looking like, but it worked. The next time I lay hands on this turbo, is to swap it for something really nice. But for now, after 5 years owning the TT, we can finally use it for the first time properly.

Hey! Thank you for the support. The ones I have are from duralast I believe. Not the nicest but also not the cheapest. They work great. I'm not 100% sure how high they lift that car, but plenty high to do an oil change or work under the front of the car.
