  • Опубліковано 12 чер 2023
  • I am building a Mountain Bike trail that will be open to the public and the first feature is a big Slab Drop that I'm calling the Diving Board. If you missed the announcement on my main channel here's what you need to know. This trail is part of at a new MTB trail network in Vermont called the Driving Range that will be free, and open to the public. This will be a network of advance trails from "dark blue" to Double black, but all of these trails will be built so that Adaptive riders can also enjoy them. At the time of posting this (June 2023), these trails are NOT open but hopefully will later this summer. This is the first video of a series of videos I will be doing about this trail that we are calling "skidmarks".

      @@PhilsWorld good clean rock then. out in bc those rocks are green, slimy, and bit of water turns them into a step above a sheet of ice.
      be more careful when you return to that spot in a year or two, might be a bit more slippery than it is while "clean"

    Phil after watching this video it is obvious why you are more drawn to making this type content at this stage of your career/journey. It’s awesome to watch your experience, knowledge, and passion at work. Creating content can create anxious feelings at times so it’s so enjoyable to watch you so at peace. It may be tempting at times to skip ahead but if ya lock in for the ride it’s such a nice watch- awesome editing. You’re still a badass too💪💪

    When your standing at the top and you look to the left of the third line. Would you be able to turn that in to a nice rollable drop. From camera it looks like the ledge that runs along the 3 drops runs out, so at the end you could roll the rock slab with a bit of built up dirt at the bottom.
    Give me your thoughts?

      I love rock bars, but I'm a bit limited in tools I can cary with me, and rock bars are heavy and cumbersome. This is probably one of the most interesting aspects of trail building that's easily overlooked: how do you get supplies and tools to where you're working? I'm lucky here that there's an access road already made but a lot of builders don't have that luxury.

We might be able to build a comparable trail, but they would do it in a quarter of the time, and half the mess.

    • @PhilsWorld
      @PhilsWorld  Рік тому

      That's a super broad question without knowing the desired goal. Every tool has strengths. Excavators are insanely versatile, but if you need to move dirt any distance skidsteers are hard to beat. However tracks do a fair bit of damage to the ground and are less maneuverable. Ride on skdisteers vs standard skidsteers; i like the ability to get in/out quickly on the ride on style but if you were on it all day I'm sure that'd get old.
