Heck, if Naofumi tried to has someone with a chair he would do no damage. The Shield is a legendary weapon, it boosts defense, but has no attack power whatsoever. Naofumi tried to grind for levels on his own, didn't go too quickly. He punched with hands and bashed with his shield, it didn't work. Oh, and you can't equip ANYTHING other than a Shield. Meaning that he CAN'T use swords or ANYTHING with a good attack.
You forgot to mention the PickAx Shield which was gained at the same time as the Rope Shield: where it allows for Naofumi to do some mining, and the Chimera Shield; which increased his resistance to poisons and toxins, but for the longest time was Naofumi's go-to shield for not only its attributes, but also for its offensive capabilities; acting like an upgrade to the Two-Headed Dog Shield only instead of delivering bite damage; the Chimera Shield could manifest up to three Cobra-like heads that not only bite their opponents but can also infect them with a venom that could deal damage over time to eventually kill his opponents. Naofumi's most prominent use of the Chimera Shield was when he used it to interrogate a guard for where Princess Melty was being held, on the promise that Naofumi would give the guard the antidote; which due to the shields cobra-heads allows for Naofumi to create a lot of Antivenom with.
Little people know this, but the Thot Rejection passive ability of the shield has been malfunctioning ever since he met Malty; and currently it is causing Naofumi to ignore even the moves of our lovely Raphtalia-chan.

Also, unless there is more that I haven't caught up to in the light novel, there wouldn't be much more to spoil about the Rage Shield, but I am almost positive that there are more abilities.
