OMG SAME! I always accidentally tap my MacBook screen! This portable monitor looks absolutely amazing!!! I'm sending them an email RIGHT NOW for a review unit 😂 Awesome video Patrick! 😁
Thanks for the very nicely made video! I have only 2 real uses for such a monitor and it's clear that it will work for one of those work needs, which is to provide me an additional display that's portable for my MacBook. My concern is that my real motivator for such a display is to add the touchscreen feature for electronically signing legal documents that are on my MacBook, or on a browser from my MacBook. So, for continuity purposes (external touchscreen is just a display with touchscreen interactivity, but all computer processing is being done by the Mac, so I can go back and forth between programs I'm using on the Mac) as well as functionality purposes, that is, having access to full computer processing skills and not being limited in any way by an iPad's skills, what I want to be able to do is... 1. Open a browser on my MacBook and log in to my dealer portal where signing is done. This is so that I'm logged in using a desktop website with all the skills of a full computer. (Occasionally, mobile sites are not supported as well and some feature or another doesn't work properly. It has even happened for me that when I request the desktop site on my iPad, that it is STILL not as fully functional as a desktop site on my MacBook.) 2. Slide that browser window over from my MacBook to the external touchscreen. 3. Interact with that browser being shared from the MacBook on the touchscreen, but most importantly, using the touchscreen controls to SIGN the document, in the signature field of the browser. Do you know if this particular touchscreen and its touchscreen functionality would work in a fashion that is integrated well enough with the MacBook that the application I'm referring to would work? Thanks in advance for your time and your response! All the best!
Another great video, and I was the exactly the same when making music with a friend two days ago! I jabbed the screen so hard I'm surprised it didn't explode 😂 This display is pretty cool man, and I should thank you for being a decent human being 🙏🏽. Thank you, and you know I mean it.
Hello Patrick, great video! I'm considering the new Espresso 17 Pro. Can you please share more of your experience of using a note-taking app via the Espresso touch screen and stylus? I've been using the Goodnotes app (similar to the Evernotes in your case) on my iPad pro, and they actually have a desktop version of Good notes on Macbook. While I understand the drawing/writing experience may not be as smooth, I wonder how close you think it's to use Goodnotes on the Espresso touch screen? Thank you!
Looking to add a second monitor for my iPad setup… if the touch screen was usable with the iPad I would really consider this. I can’t justify a 15 inch for that cost and the touch screen part doesn’t work with my set up…
Hey! Simply plug the keyboard into your main device, and it will work together with our espressoDisplay. It works seamlessly with mobile devices, and it’s incredible when coupled with Samsung DeX devices. 😉
Wow, it looks really cool, but at $499 for the touch model it’s out of my price range for an accessory. As a windows user who is only recently changing over to Apple I’m actually doing okay MOST of the time with out touch on my MacBook. That is largely because I’m so in love with the iPad I just plan any touch related activities to be done on it. But I would love it if future generations of MacBooks eventually came with a touch screen capacity…still don’t understand why Apple has shunned it.
Hi, Regarding the stylus, have you tried this on / other external monitors if capable of using that on another monitor I plan to buy that stylus for my Eyoyo 13.3 inch touchscreen monitor. And for the aspect ratio of this monitor, they have a 16 : 10 or 16 : 9?
Hello there! Our displays use a 16:9 aspect ratio. And although we haven't had the opportunity to test the Eyoyo 13.3 inch screen yet, espressoPen uses the Microsoft Pen Protocol, MP 2.0, so if your device supports that input it should work seamlessly.
Thanks for this video (great content as always)! Now I know what portable monitor to get. Looks solid and love the features and to be able to not have to carry an extra power adapter. Oh, and, yes, I am one of the few that would read instructions before doing anything. However, I am also not a fan of extraneous papers, etc so kudos to the company for having links to their instructions and their minimal use of packaging.
Well reviewed, but that is one expensive portable monitor; currently running at 15 Touch $499, 13 Touch $439,13 without touch $339. But it does have a 7-day try-it-out, risk-free option for $0 down. The stand is $69. as an add-on. Carrying case $39. The pen at $79. That's $686 before tax with the largest screen and the addons mentioned........
IPados16 and the Newmarket ipad with newly patented keyboard is the birth touchscreen MacBook Pro!! SOO no need for a MacBook just a Newmarket iPad Pro the latest keyboard accessory and Walllah you’ll have the first official touchscreen MacBook Pro!!🙏🏽
I would be over the moon if that happened but for now, I'm afraid this is wishful thinking. Last year we had major hoped for iPadOS15, especially after Apple had launched such a powerful M1 iPad Pro. Nothing happened. I doubt anything revolutionary will happen at WWDC this year either.
I remember modbooks back in 2010 they would drop in Wacom digitizers in MacBooks and take the keyboard out. But the price was crazy and you lost the apple warranty lol
Just basic info we can assume even without watching these videos, need some usage insights as in , if it pulls power from laptop how quickly it drains the battery .. because if it does all these but is a power hungry device then its a waste of money , mac book m1 lasts very long on battery and we would not want to compromise that aspect . its ok if it drains like 7 hours instead of 8 , but if usage time goes to 2 hours from 8 . we do need wall socket then
That's a good idea! I found a searching for how to make the macbook fold flat, just in case somebody actually succeeded in doing that modification before I try it on an old one
Sigh. I got all excited when Apple released Sidecar, thought a tablet/pencil next to my desktop would be the perfect way to edit photos, so I bought the 12.9" iPad (expensive). It wouldn't work with my iMac, it did have Big Sur but needed to be 2015 h/w, mine was 2014. Now, six months later I'm setting up my new Studio/ASD, and can finally do that, but now there's a different solution at 1/3rd the price. It's only money, right? Sigh.
Oh man, I feel ya. Apple can be so frustrating at times with their updates (or lack thereof). They are 100% a for profit business and we as consumers need to be very smart about what and when we buy, they won't make it easy for us.
That is cool, I carry an external 15.6” monitor when traveling for work. This is cool that it is a touch screen. I only read the manuals when I cannot figure it out. The bar code is a great way to get to the manual. Manuals are such a waist of paper. Have a great day Patrick.
Mm, that could also be a neat choice for expanding the iPad screen, especially the non-12 inch ones; or - if iPadOS so allows - having two screens for whatever activity. Would it work with non-M1 macs as well? Thanks for sharing this video!
Very cool device. I'm definitely going to look into it. I love drawing on my iPad, but hate being stuck with iPad apps. I tried a Wacom tablet but it was really flakey, and difficult to use when you're used to drawing on the screen. This could be a possible solution although I think the latency might not be as good as the Apple Pencil. Thanks for the review.
Hey William! There is definitely more latency than the Apple pencil, but I'm really impressed with how little there actually is, given the fact that MacOS wasn't built to do this. It's a neat device for sure!
@@topazi2198 I prefer a centralized workflow and would rather to commit to one device instead of alternating. The iPad can do everything a Mac can do hardware wise, but can't run all the software I need.
I really enjoy your laid back style and lack of click bait. Keep it up and best of luck as you gain subs.
Thanks, I appreciate it!

Seeing this Dec 23, and Final Cut Pro on iPad Pro now a reality

Is really nice, but one can just go with apple ipad and sidecar with native compatibility and individual performance
This video was wholesome. I feel this video will help out a lot of people.
Loved the video! If it’s tech, I’m definitely one that just jumps in guns blazing w/o reading anything.
What a great monitor and not a bad price thanks Patrick nice review 😎🇮🇪👏
Thanks Mary! ☺️
Ye, but still i think overpriced
Can you run different apps on each your laptop and monitor at the same time or does it just mirror your laptop
You can adjust / extend a screen to however you like!

Does Mac air work as well?
Of course, it should work with every laptop i think that support USB-C
What about a touch keyboard on the display? Espresso sell a 4K 17in touch screen which looks great.
Its a nice “hard to sell” product. Great video as always.
Thanks Jon!
P-Money!! I clicked as sooon as I saw that notification
Thanks my friend!
This was one of my wishes which you fulfilled that I thought would never happen! Thanks to you! :) :)

Apple has shunned it so they can sell iPads.
holy wow that's one sleek looking piece of tech. nice.
Sleek 👌😎
I’m not confirming or denying if I took a screenshot of u holding that Mac with that beef of an arm😳💪

weekend watching! 👀👀
Yay!!
Thoroughly enjoyed this video
Thanks, Joel!
a friend got a knock off one for like $99 off some Chinese website, so far so good.
Very cool info here, Patrick. Yeah man, this monitor is definitely cool! (what's up expresso", lol) Thanks brother
😆
I am really looking at getting one of these.
Thanks for the video! Question, are you still using this regularly with your Mac today ?
Not as much. My Mac is docked at my desk most of the time.
No need for a power adapter? Really nice.
It will be amazing on a Nintendo switch
Definitely a favorite feat!
Thanks for the review, was considering Asus or MSI, but this has blown the. 2 away….
Thanks man, I'm glad it was useful!
C'est un très bon ordinateur, j'aime ça
Pretty buff patrick 💪🏼
💪
Thanks for the tips! This is going to be so usefull.
🙌🙌
Can you make a comparison video between S22 ultra and iphone 13 pro max
It would be good if you could connect a keyboard to it so you can type also
Holy crap that is pretty cool! Me does not need one. But me wants
Displays your channel quite well as you can see 😅
Can you have the laptop mirror the monitor so you can see what your doing on both screens??
thats awesome
Patrick went all out Italian on this 😝🤣🤣🤣
😅
_ALWAYS_ read the documentation! 😃
Ha !
Can't see that on the video - does it support touch when connected to MacOS or only pen-input?
Our displays allow for full finger based Touch in addition to pen input.

Do you recommend using a Transcend's 1TB JetDrive Lite 330?
Does it only work for Mac computers?
Nice to see you 😍
Thanks Aabid!
The monitor is so thin and cool.
But there's an LMG gun at the 0:58 mark. I'm done. 🤣🤣
Thanks. Interesting screen, albeit not my cuppa. But worth knowing about nonetheless.
Thanks Marian!
Hi Patrick - is this compatible with iMac?
Haven't tested it but I can't see why not
Do you think this Expresso monitor is going to work with a Mac mini M2 as a touch screen? Thanks
Yes. But I would not recommend it as the one and only monitor for your mini.
Im glueing this to the back of my macbook

Could it work as a ten fingers touch screen responsive and sensitive to drive a mixer of some DAW's like Logic pro X ? or not ?
I don't think it's quick enough to run a DAW. The lag is not bad but you want zero lag for that
Cool idea 📌📌📌

Yes it can 👌
