This is an interesting story about those wheels .
Back in my showroom stock racing days, we use to run those directional wheels . The wheel was designed to draw outside air through the wheel to cool the brakes . One day, my crew, while watching my Corvette go down the front straight, noticed a hotdog wrapper get sucked through the wheel . Since we videoed the car at different places on the track, this incident was recorded . While reviewing the videos the hotdog wrapper incident was mentioned again . After watching that wrapper get sucked through the wheel, I commented, I never would have imagined that much air would be moved by those wheels . I then thought, if the direction of the wheels were reversed, how much air would be moved from underneath the car . Immediately, I told my crew to get as close to the track as the officials would allow and video the distance between the tire and the fender . I took the car out once again for the afternoon practice session . When practice was over, I instructed my crew to reverse the wheels . The next day the wheels were reversed for the last practice session . Once again, I instructed the crew to just like the day before, video the tire to fender measurement . After practice, we all reviewed the videos and compared the measurements . The tire was an inch closer to the fender with the wheels reversed . That meant the reversed wheels acted like 4 giant fans drawing air from underneath the car causing a low pressure area under the car . That little bit of reclaimed downforce caused the car to cut through the air with better efficiency than when the wheels were run in the correct direction . The car was also being sucked down on to the track with the added ground effects from running the wheels reversed . We were on a 3.1 mile road course and with that little change to the car 3 tenths of a second was taken off my laptimes . With some added length to the skirting on the sides of the car and a slightly wider chin spoiler we reduced the amount of air going under the car and that increased the low pressure area beneath the car, giving me that much more downforce than before .
At 1:00 o'clock when the cars were called to the grid one of the other competitors asked if I knew I had my wheels on backwards ? I acted concerned and told him, with a grin on my face, my crew must have screwed up and I hoped it wouldn't cause brake issues later on in the race . That was all that was ever said about me running my wheels reversed . In fact, it became my trademark, as long as I raced that Corvette !

The way Alex has them installed looks like they would pull from the inside to the outside. Also, the top of the wheel is moving faster than the bottom so it looks like it would be more aerodynamic the way it is but may be shielded by the fender and tire.

I have restored several Corvettes to Top Flight awards. I love what you have done to this car. You saved it from the graveyard. The mods are period perfect. I like the original wheels. Your detailing is spectacular. Sorting the mechanical issues is an ongoing task with any older Corvette. You did a great job. C4 Corvette values are not great right now but the good ones will only grow in value over time. My opinion is that your car might sell somewhere in the mid to high teens in its current condition. Being a 40th edition helps. At that price it will be a screaming good deal for a Corvette fan.

I can't say enough great things about this car and your channel!
As a former detailing business owner (I've now had 5 spine surgeries and had to quit), I totally get and respect everything you are doing with this car. I love you're keeping the paint original.
I was watching you pressure wash the floor mats and I wanted to recommend something. I know it seems like the pressure washer would be all you need but I tell you what, get some various drill brushes. Ryobi sells the best for the money for an over the counter situation. There are 3 levels of stiffness when it comes to the brushes.
You can use a great cleaner and MF towel and get great results.....say on a plastic panel.
Then, simply agitate with the drill brush combo before wiping and OMG! You will never go without them again!
Once again, thanks for all you do and keeping it LEGIT!

Fantastic job! I agree with keeping the ground effects, it suits this car perfectly. The sawblade rims complete the aesthetic. Once you guys hammer out those engine hiccups, look out. She is a beauty. Ruby does fit and she shines like a gem now.

The bodykit is far and away the best part of this car. Literally what anyone would want their C4 Corvette to look like in the early 90s... on the Jersey Shore.

I hope you can find a targa top. Are they all clear? I don’t think it would matter if it was solid color because it would look good painted gloss black with the back hatch window with new black limo tint. It would flow together nicely.

I understand and can respect the decision to go back to the factory wheels, I however liked the look of the other rims. Would you consider going to aftermarket period correct wheels? I do like the period correct body kit. You guys did a great job! Keep the Corvette content ripping! Oh and Cleetus smiles every time to call your corvette Ruby!😁

Leave it alone ! The kit makes the c4 NOT look ugly. The body kit is beautiful and makes the c4 corvette look amazing.

Looking good! I would remove the body kit and rear spoiler and return it to it original former glory. I actually purchased this identical car brand new in 1993. The price was around $32,000.00. I kept it for 7 months and wholesaled it to a dealer for $29,000.00. They depreciated pretty quickly back then.

No ground affects kit, and the original wheels... SOOOOO much better! Fantastic job cleaning her up. My dad had one same color when I was a teenager. Definitely have a soft spot for C4's.

If they take the ground effects off the would have lots of holes in the body, that would have to fix. And the car would have to be repainted. Best just leave it as is.

I love the look of the Body kit, it really helps give that C4 more of a presence while giving the car essentially more wheel well for the wheels to fill out. If I had a C4, I'd do the exact same thing that I see here!

The body kit needs to stay...it just looks right at home on her. As for the wheels.... I personally liked the chrome ones better than the og ones. Happy Thanksgiving to you guys and your families! Also to everyone in the comments here! 💙🙏🏼

The body kit isn't bad at all, and the original wheels look great; the C6 wheels are probably better for weight and brake cooling performance but don't quite fit the style.
Amazing transformation, hopefully the electrical issues issues with the ignition system don't continue to frustrate!

When soldering copper wire connections, you'll get the best solder joints if you'll add a little bit of electrical flux paste to the bare wires, then tin the tip of the iron. Apply the hot tip to the area you applied the flux, which will quickly melt. Then begin adding solder (thin electrical solder, not the larger solder used for sweating copper pipes!). Only a very small amount of electrical solder is needed, then apply the shrink wrap just as you did.
PRO TIP: If you don't have a lighter or torch to heat the shrink wrap, wipe any solder off of the tip of your soldering iron and apply the hot tip of your iron along the sides of the shrink wrap, and that will heat it sufficiently to shrink that stuff down. Great job, guys!
