Just to clarify, there was a misinterpretation on my part. Sean said he wasn't "vibing" with the track, meaning with the upcoming WSS album in full writing swing, he wasn't able to come up with anything he was happy with for it. It wasn't that he didn't like it, he just felt that if he wasn't able to come up with anything special, he shouldn't be on the track. It wasn't a diva move at all, sorry for any misunderstandings! Massive thanks to @distrokid for sponsoring today's video! Get your music on Spotify and snag a bonus 7% off! distrokid.com/vip/agufish
Thanks for the love man, what a great video. Sorry I couldn't find time for the track. You killed it!! I owe you 1 solo. We will do a track together on my next sig release ;) - screen shot this. Peace.
Bro I was about to buy a ESP LTD EC-1000S with Fishman Fluence modern active pickups but then remembered charvel makes rad guitars in the style of fender but more tuned for metal and shredding and saw your signature… same price as the ESP but idk I feel like your signature guitar is more versatile for my style which ranges from 90’s grunge, to alternative/shoegaze to metalcore the Fishman Fluence moderns are amazing but more tuned for heavy play styles and im not specifically into heavy music. The EMG 57/66 combo seems less aggressive and specific. I’m so fucking close to picking up your signature. It looks cool too with the yellow accents.
Guitar sounds massive! The 57/66 is EMGs best pick up set imo. I'm glad I waited for you to do the demo so I could hear your thoughts and the tone you got. It's the perfect super strat.
More of a Les Paul and Tele guy and not the biggest fan of EMG's but I saw this guitar on one of your videos checking out all the new Charvels coming out and was interested. So I looked up Sean Long and While She Sleeps...fell in love instantly and bought one for my self. This guitar is something else, a total riff machine and super stripped back workhorse. Love it!
Man, have I waited long for this video, and it was well worth it! Very good breakdown of the guitar and the demo nailed the WSS-vibe 100%, I could hear the gang-shouts and screams in my head :D Good job, buddy!
You ain't telling me NOTHING about the Whammy Pedal, Junior ... I got one the first year they were produced!😎 Seriously, though, I'm glad that they also put that functionality into their RPx50/x55 series multi-effectors. If I need it, it's there.
I’ve been looking at this guitar for months now trying to decide if I want this guitar or not, and I think this review is the push I need to get it! However I have one small question/rebuttal. this is simply my opinion, I feel like when you get a signature guitar, you are getting a guitar that is set up on this person specific preference of how they play. Yeah some might be getting it because it’s a cool guitar but it’s also one that people are gonna get because it’s Sean longs. So I feel like when you get a guitar like that, your specifically asking for their specs, but simply my opinion! I’m glad you like it
I picked up the Sean Long model a few months ago on a whim as I was in the market for a super Strat with EMG / active pickups. Was not familiar with him, his work or band but, wow am I impressed. It has easily become one of my main guitars along with my HSS American Pro II. It chugs, cleans up nicely and a riff monster. I also can not get over the neck. It’s extremely comfortable and feels way more expensive than it really is.
Crazy how you get damn near perfect Mexican charvels while I struggle to get one. I had to send one back because of sharp fret ends and loose neck, and when I went to a guitar store it also had sharp fret ends along with another abundance of issues. Thankfully the people there were more than helpful and sanded the fret ends down, gave it new strings and a set up, tightened the jack and now plays AMAZINGLY. It has a few cosmetic defects such as two small dents on the headstock, the nut doesn't sit completely flush on one end and I had to bend the electronic plate in the opposite direction because it was sticking out but all in all I'm happy with my charvel dk 24
I LOVE Charvel Guitars and I really dislike that they don’t provide a case, but it was interesting to see that they didn’t provide Sean a case either. Wow…
Thanks a lot Hunter, like your Channel and your Demo about the perfect Strat has given me the last push to buy this lady as my personal christmas gift in 2023, so super cool and smooth to play, the neck is from another world, i have about 6 really great guitars who also have a great playability, but this Charvel is outstanding, and the EMGs are killer, sounds just awesome, so thanks again and keep up the great work, rock on😎🤟🏻 Cheers
Just received this guitar. I had an Evertune bridge installed and put on strap locks when i got it. I mainly wanted this model because I love the EMG 57/66 pickup set. However, after playing it for a bit, I have to agree that the neck is really what makes this one special. It is the most comfortable neck I've ever played and it was flawless straight out of the box (no sharp fret ends, no high frets, nicely polished, etc.). It's also a surprisingly light guitar, which is a nice bonus for my back and shoulder. For me, it's the perfect insturment.
I've had the Sean Long signature for awhile now and it's great. I agree with it being one of the best Strat-style guitars out there. I added an Ernie Ball Comfort Strap (the black with yellow stripe, obviously) and some strap locks, and it's pretty close to perfect. The pickups can end up sounding very aggressive, which is not necessarily a bad thing most of the time but, as mentioned, the pickups can't be lowered. That being said, it is still easily a 9-9.5/10.
Sean is a total beast, absolutely love his playing. I'm not a fan of the yellow pickup cover but apart from that, what a belter of a guitar. No one needs a tone control... there I said it! 🎸🖤
Not sure what he didn't like about the track...I thought it was awesome. Do you think the issue with not being able to lower the pickups is the depth of the cover or the pickup itself?
Thank you for the good video. I saw this guitar today in my local store, and I fall in love immediately for its simplicity and great look. I'm thinking very seriously to purchase it. I haven't tried it yet, so in your opinion, is this guitar versatile enough to play other music genres other than heavy metal? How nice are the clean tones? Thank you very much.
Had this Charvel for about a week and it's one of the best super strats I've played and looks awesome. I'm not a huge fan of the band I like 2 or 3 songs. I love this guitar but for my style I'm thinking of switching the EMGs for something different like SD JB/59 or a different set of EMGs. This guitar has a massive sound my only complaint is that my bridge edges feel sharp but I've gotten use to it. You won't miss inlays if you get this guitar but I've also had many guitars without inlays and I prefer the look. I play different styles like AIC, Metallica, TBDM, LOG etc it works flawlessly you don't need a neck through I can reach the frets just fine with medium/large size hands. I parted a super start with a basswood body years ago and it played amazing as well but sounded great but didn't have the playability this guitar has its just easy to play. Try one out if you like Fender style strats but are looking for a nice super strat this is perfect.
If I were gonna order a custom Charvel, I would basically get this with a roasted neck and red instead of yellow. This thing RIPS. I've been trying to get one for a display in the guitar room at Sweetwater, but haven't been able to yet. So sick.
For throwing that demo together in a day….or 2? It’s one of your best demos to date …. I’ve never even heard of him or his band …I had to Google his name to find out anything about him …. Maybe I need to get out more….but for him to shoot you down after writing a cool ass demo for his guitar is fn WEAK SAUCE!!!! What a lil ….. I’m not going to allow this to turn me in to a internet thug and start calling people names but that was a weak move!
In my opinion charvel is the kind of classy workhorse guitars, I've yet to play one personally but I've been eyeing that joe duplantiar signature model for quite a while, it just looks so good
Recently bought one and i love it! Swapped the yellow 57 for a black one. But hes right the 57 has A LOT of output So much that i need to use a hard gate cause its straight up noisy and compared to other guitars i track the waves are massive LOL Sounds awesome though
Those Charvels are $1199. Used for around a grand. I have 15 guitars and in the end I always go back to my Satchel signature. If I tuned it down to C I think it just might surpass this one seeing we have Fishman influence pickups. Tomorrow its on.
Would be cool to see your thoughts on the Virtual Jeff pedal. Its basically a whammy pedal but you can attach it to the body like a tremolo and even do a virtual capo with it. I don't know about the rest of the comments but I think it would be cool to see the gretsch baritone with an octave drop virtual capo
I have ProMod DK24 that will not stay in tune. If you even breath on the trem it goes out of tune and bending will do the same. Does anyone know how to keep these 2 point trems in tune? I've set it up properly, locked down the posts, but no luck. Almost ready to get rid of it.
Nice, the demo track turned out good without any other guitarist. I especially liked the low-high dynamics of the verses, that gave me some ideas for new songs. That last part was in two different modes in the rhythm and lead tracks so that was kind of jarring at the first listen. I’m not sure I hated that though, it kinda grabbed the ear how the notes grinds against each other.
I just don't understand the decision to go with a traditional block heal. The contoured heal is a must in my opinion, especially for a metal signature guitar.

Can someone please tell me what this little black block is he puts on his strings after the nut? Im curious what its called and what it does 😊
