Yes, absolutely! You can definitely install a dimmer switch instead of one of those regular switches. It's a great way to have control over the brightness of your lights and create the perfect ambiance in any room.
Fab video, how do you take out the inserts without damaging them, the white things over the screws that fix it onto the wall? I don't want to use a flat head screw driver and damage them, I have 18 sockets and switches to do, we had them all fitted and I need to paint round them where the old ones use to be were bigger. Thank you. I was thinking of a very small flat head screwdriver ?

However, i turn the first switch on, go to the other end but the switch doesn’t do anything, until i turn the 1st switch off. I then walk back to the other end, and now the 2nd switch works. Only one switch works at any one time, which defeats the object. Any ideas what i’m doing wrong?
I wish you guys would run a neutral to the switch, smart switches need them and it's a faff and a half to do work arounds just because you don't put in a neutral.

Hi mate, If you haven't second fixed the intermediate switch be prepared as everyone wires them differently. I for example don't use the brown as the common, I use the grey, Black as L1 & Brown as L2.
Yes, you can use an intermittent switch as a 2-way by linking out both sides at the bottom. It might not be the conventional way, but it can work in a pinch!
Might want to redo this video… well presented and easy to follow… however key error is connecting both blacks to intermediate L1s and greys to L2s… will just mean it is constantly on… need to put black and grey from one wire into L1s and black and grey from other wire into L2s…
!!!!Followed this religiously BUT didnt work. The intermediate switch wouldnt turn off other 2. Changed the wiring for black and grey on to and black n grey underneath then it worked!!!!!!!!! Taken me weeks to work it out😱

Haha, great question! If you had 2 or 4 lights in the room, you might need to hire an electrician to handle all those switches! Just kidding, there are actually different wiring configurations for multiple lights, and I can definitely cover that in a future video.

In a first switch, you connect the live wire to the common terminal and the neutral wire to the L1 terminal. Make sure to always follow the correct wiring guidelines for safety purposes.
Have you ever come across the situation where a 1940's house has 2 switches controlling 1 light. But with only a single twin & earth at each switch and the ceiling rose? I figured there must me a junction box somewhere along the installation but still don't understand how it would have been wired back then?! 🤷♂️

No worries. Common will be brown and L1 will be black then L2 being Black. Both with brown sleeving

Can have several lights as well, also can add more intermediate switches in between the 2 way switches.
As many intermediate as you want and multiple lamps providing the load doesn't exceed the supply cable or circuit breaker etc.

There would be no point in using 3 core from the Db unless you want to use a sw live from there too

We used to use these years ago 20 intermediate in a row till time lag switches came out

I would normally use brown on brown L1 and blue on black L2 use grey as common. And similarly with the older wiring red to red and yellow as common
