I’m not into racing at all, but absolutely love my stock 2014 civic. I do all my own maintenance and it’s SO easy to work on. Reliable, eco friendly, and comfortable. Honda forever for me 😊
@@tom_shredz People are just mad that Honda’s and Japanese cars are more reliable and better quality than whatever car they have. My family won’t buy anything that isn’t Japanese. Only Honda, Toyota, and Subaru for us. We have one of each in the garage. A Civic, Legacy, and 4Runner.

I have a K20/K24 Frankenstein engine that I bought with a 06 SI and boy let me tell you! I love my baby! Had an issue with finding the water pump replacement as it’s a JDM so the American pieces weren’t fitting so I brought it to a Acura/Honda guy that builds race cars and he changed the housing to an American Accord and it works perfectly. Everyone who gets behind my car says it’s fun and fast though it’s not as fast as my racing team who have B engines and turbos. Getting a hatch by next summer and have my mechanic build it to 600hp for a night car
You can't beat the power of a large naturally aspirated engine and its large displacement. The connection between the driver and the throttle is immediate and the harmonics are amazing. Running on its own power.
Watching this years later, it really feels like Andy is an old friend. I've since been watching all of his progress on his projects, he's been in so many of your videos, and has hands in so many amazing projects. Andy, you're a solid dude!
I love cars, but I don't know much about mechanics, parts, engines or stuff like that. I'll probably never do any of those things they do on this channel... I'm really just an amateur, but man I absolutely love this channel and these mechanics videos, the quality is just off this planet! Unlike a lot of other channels who keeps it really hyped up and almost childish, more vlog style, there's so much professionalism and a peaceful aspect to it. We can actually see how much they work on the car inside and out. Doesn't matter if it's the Civic, Forester, Evo or Miata, I enjoy every seconds of it! I like you bring up the concept of "area under the curve." I teach HS math and the students frequently tell me they will never use this information, but I always see them watching youtube videos on cars. I am going to make sure to bring this up as a real-life example of understanding graphs. Your videos are awesome and I always learn something, thank you.

K24 bottom end with a Z3 head is brilliant. The Z3 head is an excellant casting and in my opinion when it comes to K series is absolutely the best head available. Our testing showed it even out fload the k20a2 head by a significant amount of cfm
Just gonna slide this piece of advice in here for the unobservant - All this is NOT necessary for you to kswap your car. Unless you are sponsored like most youtubers, going this route your car is gonna be sitting on jackstands for a long time till I buy the shell off you. 99.99% of those Ktuned/carquest parts are not necessary. Good luck with your build.

My jaw dropped when I saw Ronnie with the prepped K20Z3 head. I've been patiently working on my build and saving up to finally get to RS motors for a tune from a legendary tuner and owner. Seeing him help your build makes me incredibly jealous! I know you're definitely throwing in $$$ if 2 well-known time attackers are building your motor!
Honestly, the way you present this video, not sacrificing quality over quantity (like tons of episode randomly thrown in), is very unique and fun to watch. Keep it up man, I rarely binge watch on engine swap but definitely don’t mind watching yours 👌
@@alexander1485 yep. Remote mount gives a bit more delay, but still works. A centrifugal supercharger would probably be more useful on that engine for track use, though.
Dream build for most of us Honda guys. In the road trip videos I remember him saying he don't know if he will keep the car. I think that decision has been made now.
Another thing about the more aggressive cams is they’re harder on timing chain and tensioner. You made a good choice going with the less aggressive cams. We lost lots of engines running the big cam from timing chain/tensioner failures.

Very nice attention to detail, I like how you cleaned the entire engine bay and painted it. Also agree with the cams, I've been out of the Honda business for 15 years, but power under the curve is always more useful.
PremierPerformance but if it was all about price then, wouldn’t an LS1 swap be a better and cheaper alternative? Plus you wouldn’t need any RWD conversion kits.
K series engines can make a bit more torque. Peak power is similar. K engines are a fraction of the price with a lot more support as they were offered in MANY other cars. We didn’t just swap K’s into S2000’s for fun. We did our homework.
andysmede that makes sense. I’ve seen some crazy S2000 engine builds so I was wondering what reason other than price was really at play there. If you can get better power out of a K with the same parts for cheaper then that really makes it the better option.

I used to want to do something to my 2006 Accord. For now, I'll just appreciate it's reliability until it dies. Then, I'll look into something a bit more fun. Glad I didn't waste money trying to do something half-assed. This build is proper!

You can also use K20Z4 Cylinder head, found in the EUDM Civic Type-R FN2 (Euro). It's better than the Z3 and paired with the K20 engine found in the CTR FN2, it makes 201 HP.
