Oh god this episode gave us such a painful look into the psyche of Bojack, and it is sad...This could have been the finale of season 1 and I would not have batted an eye.

Man it’s haunting to hear two people watching the show blind optimistically talk about this episode like it could be Bojack’s lowest point.

Will Arnett voices Bojack so effin' incredible. The way his voice breaks as he keeps begging hurts so much to listen to.

I was thinking about this recently. How often do we think about the quality of the acting in an animated show? Almost never.
But this show is so well thought out and written and acted that it’s impossible not to admire the work done by everyone involved

The treading water discussion hit me really hard, in realising I've basically been living a smaller scale version of bojacks mental state the past couple years, stuck just trying not to drown and getting good at presenting a healthy outward mask due to parental pressure to succeed creatively

I don't think there is a single episode 11 / penultemate episode that doesn't just make me sob, fuck you funny horse show.
She "how nice this could have been if you HAD chosen this life", the giggle of the child he never had when he's waiting for Diane's answer, the whole idea of is it too late for me?
I'm a therapist, who has had their fair share of self-reflective struggles, and this show FUCKS ME UP. I've watched it begining to end probably at least 5 times, and watched people react to it over and over, this show is an absolute masterpiece, I don't think anything quite like it has ever been made before.
You guys are perfect for it by the way, your reflections are bang on, I love seeing reactors who truly GET it, and I can't wait for the rest of this (fancy giving us two episodes a week...? ;) )

    And it still gets better

one of my favorite things about watching you both is both your excitement towards ANY series you watch AND how much you analyze things, even if it doesn't truly need that much thought behind it.

Bojack didn’t have trouble getting women, he just sneezed on Marissa Tomé. I think it’s just a random joke and maybe slightly symbolic about he might be careless or inconsiderate around women. He ended up falling off the balcony too and got hurt pretty bad as shown in a flashback in one of the first episodes

I think Bojack is projecting his mother on Diane especially. They are both kind of mean women who don't hold back on their words. Maybe that is why he seeks for her approval so much. Also that may also be why he was so upset about the book. Because he wants Diane to see him as a successful and put together person, just like how he wants his mother to see him in that way

@ciolake4136 you don't know that, why do people keep saying this. hope for what, what did you imagine by that word, maybe what he hoped for truly is not attainable anymore, you don't know the circumstances. you can definetly say there is hope, but not always and not for everything, for example, - SPOILERS - there's no hope for bojack to fulfill the dream with charlotte.
