- I visited Nottingham today with the idea of capturing both Nottingham Football clubs by drone and then visiting a few stadiums on the way back home.
Here is my video of the City Ground, home of Nottingham Forest and I have shared some facts about the stadium and club too.
Its a magnificent stadium set in a great location.

visited a few times with everton in the 80`s , always a good atmosphere ,glad they are back in the top league this season

I live fairly close to Nottingham and I deliberately say Notts Forest just to wind their fans up. It works too.

We’ve just had approval to rebuild the Peter Taylor stand. There is a picture behind you at the start of the video on the side of the store of it.

Had some good battles there 70s 80s Iv been around 4 or 5 times with Liverpool
My older brother is a forest nut goes over every couple of weeks.
He reckons they used to thump us every time at anfeild.

Neil,genuinely curious,,,did you come to the Forest game in the late 70s,early 80s, when the OB disappeared before the end of the game and Liverpool fans in their thousands were ran back to the station? (the lucky ones)…No shame in that, it happened to many!…About the same time, the same thing happened to Leeds,only the Leeds fans were in such a panic they forgot to turn left into the station and ran into the city centre!…It was hilarious watching them trying to get back to the station in small groups staring at their shoes etc etc..Their train left half empty…..
Getting around Mr D. Turning into a career. Last time I was there the Trent behind the Brian Clough stand had flooded way up on the bank as it oozed its way along. They will do well this season.

Nick. Your right about Nottingham. Lovely place. The trip to Jerusalem is Oldest pub in England possibly Britain. National Tennis Centre I think, water sports on the Trent, and Test Cricket at Trent Bridge, You should do the 17 County Grounds.

Thanks for the upload. You could have done Trent Bridge Cricket Ground too, it was only 100 metres away :) - Yeah, it's a beautiful location the City Ground, the whole area around it is great, loads of nice bars and places to eat. The best location in English Football for sure. Cheers.

Great - I loved the drone footage! I live just out of the picture and have supported Notts County for 60 years. We are the oldest professional football club in the world (founded 1861) and was the oldest league club as well until we were relegated to the National League. Forest are a Johnny come lately club compared to us.
Nottingham forest Stadium has the potential to be at least a 50K capacity with an upgrade & refurbishment of the stand adjacent to the car park & the 4 quadrants to match the main Stand with the right investment it can happen!

Ye I probably should have mate but I hadn’t planned it in and had a few stadiums to get to. I’ll definitely go back to Nottingham so it’s on my list now 👍🏻
They are closer. Closed in UK in Dundee and Dundee UTD. The club should invite you after this.
I have many memories of going to the city ground to each Liverpool play Forest.
The area around the away end looks different.
Was always a nice journey from Liverpool to Nottingham, with a stop off on the coach for a bevvy nearby.👍
We were away on holiday when you did this, we watch all your videos and we're only 5 minutes away from the City Ground. Keep up the good work. :)
Notts County is older.
County are older - 1862 - but we are the oldest Football League Club in the World. At least until County get promoted back to League 2

Been there a few times, I'm sure if they had stayed in the top flight they would have a bigger capacity stadium by now.
Planning permission has just been approved this week to rebuild the Peter Taylor stand (the smallest one) taking the capacity to 38,000
Yeah a bit stumped by the river on two sides.
Forest have been given permission to redevelop that old main stand.

I was just informed yesterday by my brother they just got planing permission for a new stadium 🏟.
See can u look it up looks and awful lot like another stadium u visit a lot.

I think the worlds oldest club is Sheffield FC. Nottingham Forest are the oldest professional club and until recently that honour belonged to Notts County who were relegated out of the football league.
Side note: Stoke City try and claim oldest professional club but Stoke City is a different club to the original Stoke.

Thanks I really enjoyed this one. Fun fact: The County Ground is actually in the boundaries of Nottingham City and the City Ground is just across the boundary (the river) and is technically in Nottinghamshire County.
Forest just got planning permission for the new main stand, which will really improve the look of the stadium.

Interesting. The playing surface looks good but of course it might all be down to fertiliser and water!
Nottingham town centre is nice. There’s a huge central square surrounded by lots of shops.
The pitch has be totally re-laid and re-grown for this season. Forest have played all 'home' pre-season friendlies at Burton Albion or Notts County's Meadow Lane.

I'm certainly no expert of English football but I do remember that Justin Fashanu played for this team back in the 1980's. My recollection from the documentaries I watched was that it was not a good time for him there and that he and the coach did not get along well. I think he only stayed for a couple of seasons. He was quite a personality.

Couple of things, we are not the oldest, Stoke City are older, and although no longer a league club, Notts County are older still. We've also not won the UEFA Cup...
And it is Forest, Nottingham Forest or Nottm. Forest, but never ever Notts Forest... - all good, not even Sky can get that right... ;)

Forest are the "oldest Football League club". The whole stoke / forest debate thing was about that title and it was found out that historically stoke City were not formed in 1863 but in 68 and forest was 65.
@@Nathanlevi Aye. I've heard this before, but never seen anything official, especially from Forest... I believe they found paperwork showing this when they pulled down the Victoria Ground...
And yet, they still have 1863 on their badge, and their official history (available on their website) still states 1863.

Just doing a lil reading, and, well... So EFL recognise Forest as oldest member club, despite no confirmation from the reds, and Stokes official history still stating 1863... But, Wrexham have been recently found to have been formed 1864... Seems generally held that a lot of clubs from this era didn't have the best record keeping... And it can get murky and muddy when you take into account how clubs have formed through amalgamation of 2 or 3 other clubs, for example, Cambridge United's history could stretch back to the 1840's, and is recognised by the FA....
I personally still go with what I've "known" all my life, Notts, Stoke, Forest as the oldest 3 league clubs - Notts will count again when they get promoted back to the EFL...
The football league don’t recognise Stoke City as the oldest as there 1863 claim can’t be proven so they have given the title to Forest as the worlds oldest football league club

There is a report on the official Forest website from 2019 (prior to Notts going out the EFL), but again, no acknowledgment from NFFC.

Enjoyed that, but not sure where the info about us winning a UEFA Cup comes from.....we were semi-finalists in 1984 and Quarter-Finalists in 1996, but never won it.
The council has just granted the club permission to redevelop the Peter Taylor Stand, so come back again in the future with your drone and you can film the progress.

We aren't acc the oldest football club in the world; we're the oldest in the football league, the two clubs that are older than us are Notts County (1862) and Sheffield FC (1857) there might be others but there the only two that I know of.
registered league is County i think pal, there are some little discrepancies with registration etc, but yeah county and sheffield are older that the Garabaldis

Oh dear, you were doing so well and then you asked Notts Forest fans for an invite! You'll have to make it up to them by videoing the progress of the recently approved replacement of the Peter Taylor stand. By the way, they have never won the UEFA Cup which is another sore point.
Stats relating to titles won is not quite right. Forest have won 3 league titles, two with Brian Clough and Peter Taylor and one back in the late 50's.
Reminds me of old Anfield, could surely use a makeover couldn't it ?
Redevelopment of the old stand was granted planning permission yesterday. Work starts at the end of this season to knock it down and start the new £94M new one

Nottingham Forest (1865) are not the oldest club by any means. Notts County (1862) is the oldest professional club in the world. Sheffield FC (1857) pre-dates that although they didn't adopt the association football code until much later.

Nice vid, but who the f**k are Notts Forest? It's Nottingham Forest and Notts County. Please don't mix the two, it tends to up set people in these parts. And secondly forest aren't the oldest club in the world, that honour goes to Sheffield F C (1857). forest (1865) are currently the oldest league club because Wrexham (1864) and Notts County (1863) are playing in the National League.
