I've seen an Indonesian video where the mechanic used a couple of nuts locked to the end of a threaded rod to pull the post out. My own recent experience was that sawing internally worked pretty well. By cutting the seatpost off then cutting a slot in it with a metal disc on an angle grinder, right down into the frame slot, I ended up with only about 6" of the post to saw through.
I bet all of these videos and comments are at display for comical relief at bike manufactures who persist at putting aluminum posts in steel frames after all these years. Thanks for the vid
I just bought a similiar hacksaw handle at a second hand store. I'm going to cut the post in more places than you did and hopefully the post will come out easier.
Excellent work! The only thing I would have done differently is take the bottom bracket out before the sawing. I'm at this point right now with mine. Sawed on it for a couple hours. Now I'm letting is soak tonight with penetrating oil (probably won't help at all, but it's time to take a break anyway). Tomorrow this thing is coming out!
Thanks for the vid! I was honestly thinking of buying a big drill bit to bore out the metal little by little😂 but I’ll attempt this. My mission now is to go to Home Depot
6:22 some of my teeth loosened when exposed to that squeak! Metal fingernails on a Mr Muscle polished blackboard stuff! Great job getting the seat-post out, I'm going to have to try something similar on a bike I picked up for free!

If you give time and patience to it you will do a good job
Persistence improves resilience, remote upload in the absence of brute force, cheers
Fair play to ya for sticking at it. I've had a few over the years that were flippin nightmares ! . ...
You'd think they'd stop mixing aluminum with steel at this point. Just make steel posts!?

Well done 😊. I’ve got some corroded headset spacers to remove now!!!

great, I now know what hell to look forward to
Well done....where there is a will there is a way .
I did the same with a stuck handle stem, but I've had to cut a strip, both side to clamp the tube and "shrink" it to get it out
Someone needs to make a slide hammer attachment that will go down the inside of the seatpost and hook the end so it can be pulled out.
the most hardest way I've ever seen
I think cutting and sawing out is the best way to go when it’s really corroded like that.
Im not envy you man coz I passed through all this by myself 😊
i have a broken Carbon fiber post break at the edge of the seat mount, will try your cutting method indeed, thank you
Maaaaan. I am doing the same. Mone is going to be a bugger though
Use some kind of honing device
I'm having similar struggle...2 hours into it so far...I must win
did you win?
@bootsowen not yet...it's totally mangled inside the seat tube now so it's going to be caustic soda I guess 🙈
If the aluminum seatpost and aluminum frame are stuck, how do you remove it?
I would try the same way, but I would be a bit more careful.
@@bootsowen it's too risky, I don't want the frame to be damaged, it's a pity if that happens, but I'm confused 😭
Why not just saw it out gently?
@@bootsowen oke I will try
What is the name of the red tool that you used at the end called ?
What time?
Needle nosed pliers
Slide hammer it out
Slide Hammer with a toggle bolt attached to the end. Trim back the sides of the toggle so that the face catches the bottom of the tube.
Why make a video when you make such a poor job of something ?
Why bother watching the video and posting a snarky comment?
