    Collision with birds will not cause both landing gears not to be deployed

      Technically there are three landing gear. Left main, right main and the nose gear.

      @@inv170 Then the airport is in the wrong location if it can't give the plane just a little more runway to skid to a stop on its own without the interference of a wall. A longer runway would probably would have saved all these lives. They need to plan for this in the future by having a longer runway for an event like this. Find a different location if need be because this is just bad and totally preventable with a longer runway without the wall.

    The birdstrike could damage an engine, but is not cause for the crash.
    Not even the landing gear issue is the cause of the crash.
    From video it appears the plane came in too fast, "landed" way to far inside the 3km runway leading to overshooting the runway. This is the core issue.
    Unfortunately the Koreans decided to have built a concrete reinforced structure just 150 after end of the runway resulting in instant destruction of the plane.

    • @shaggypyro
      @shaggypyro 2 дні тому +2

      Double Dutch what you've written. Coming in too fast doesn't cause the failed deployment of the undercarriage! Either pilot error or malfunction.

      A bird strike alone cant bring down a plane like that even if both engines are dead like in the Hudson River incident they should have still been able to lower the landing gear and brake, they also have the APU (auxiliery power unit) they could have started up to provide hydraulic pressure as far as i know, but nobody said that the birdstrike alone brought down the plane... they just said there also was a bird strike...

      @ArthurTanner-d7s that ideally when you build your airport there shouldn't be a brick wall at the end of it. If there is a flooded marsh at the end of the runway it may help to avoid or lessen disasters like this.

    • @Kabivelrat

    Sorry but the pilot was an idiot - landing gear isn’t down so that means not enough friction to brake. So without the landing gear when he knows that the plane will be in bits he still chose tarmac against RC walk rather than the field right next to it that would endure more friction and non wall.

    • @ArthurTanner-d7s
      @ArthurTanner-d7s 2 дні тому

      Landing on the runway is safer than a field. On a soft surface there is a possibility of it digging in and flipping over. It is also easier for the emergency services to get to the aircraft after landing.

    • @90skidnomo
      @90skidnomo 2 дні тому

      @ absolutely right but not in a failed landing gear when the airplane was sliding like a curling against RC wall.

    • @ArthurTanner-d7s
      @ArthurTanner-d7s 2 дні тому

      @@90skidnomo Yes, especially when the gear is not extended. The underslung engines will be the first to make contact, dig into the soft ground and probably rupture the wing tanks resulting in a fire.
      That is why we are taught, for good reason, to make a gear-up landing on the runway.

Hitting birds wouldnt effect the landing gear and on a plane that size... those engines are able to take multiple bird strikes and keep going. Also that aircraft can fly and land on one engine. Weather looks fine in the video.
