    My dearest children,
I write you this letter from a cold, desolate trench, somewhere in a land I did not even know existed until recently. The snow here is stained red with the blood of men like me - strangers, used as pawns in a war that is not our own. My heart is heavy, and my soul even heavier, as I pen these words to you. I want you to know that I think of you every moment, with every breath I still have.
When I left, I was told this was a noble fight, a holy mission to combat the unbelievers. But here, in the icy silence of war, I have begun to doubt everything I was told. The men who sent me to Russia spoke of honor and martyrdom, but the Russians I am with here treat us like dirt. We, the foreign soldiers, are sent forward, without weapons worthy of mention, without protection.
I have seen my brothers, Houthis, Afghans, Syrians, driven to the battlefield like cattle to the slaughter. The Russians stay behind, safe in their bunkers, while we are used as shields. Every day, I see men die - not in glorious battle, but in despair, their final cries lost in the chaos of explosions and bullets. Some beg for mercy, others curse the heavens. I wonder, why does Allah allow this? Is this truly His will?
My children, the images I see here will haunt me forever. Yesterday, I saw a boy, barely older than you, lose his legs to a grenade. He cried for his mother as he died in my arms. I wanted to pray, but no words came to my lips. How can I pray when I no longer know if anyone is listening?
The cold here is unbearable, but colder still is the betrayal I feel. They lied to us. This is not a fight for justice or faith. This is a game of power, played by men who see us as nothing. My body may be trapped here, but my mind is free, and I want to warn you: do not believe the lies. Do not let anyone convince you that war is a holy duty. War is nothing but death and destruction.
If I ever return, I hope I can hold you in my arms again. But if I fall - and that chance is great - I pray that you will remember my words. Seek peace, my children. Seek knowledge. Do not let anyone ensnare you in a web of hatred as they have done to me.
I love you more than words can ever express. Be strong for your mother and for each other. And never forget who you are - children of a father who, despite everything, will always love you.
With all my love, Your father

I was impressed with the commentary here except for one oft repeated Ruzzian trope that a person of this stature and experience should certainly be informed enough not to repeat.
This on the topic of the age of military draft in Ukraina. An the current rules there are enough men to be mobilized to increase the current size of the SVZSU, that is, the army, the Ukrainian ground forces to 7x the current size (!).
So, any talk of lowering the draft age as some sort of necessity is logically fallacious and just more Ruzzian dezinformatsiya/agitprop meant to dissuade allies and friend of Ukraina in NATO and other Western industrialized liberal democracies from giving to help Ukraine in its fight, and ironically, the entire reason this 7x amount of the SVZSU that ISN'T being mobilized is that they don't have any EQUIPMENT to be mobilized WITH, and, I mean, no helmets, uniforms, Kevlar, AKs, nothing, so it's especially ignorant to repeat the GRU/FSB trope that Ukrainia isn't "all-in" in mobilizing it's population into the military. NOTHING could be further from the truth.
The only part of this trope that is correct is that, like other former vassals of the CCCP, Ukrainia did have a big "baby bust" in the 1990s, so those people born then are essential for the future demographic survival of the country, and need to be reproducing right now, this part is correct. But any idea that they are at all needed for military service is a lie, check the website of the EU that deals with Ruzzian dezinformatsiya, they have a good article there if you want more proof of this.
If you come across this trope, don't be shy in correcting, even if it's against a big expert like this fellow. It just goes to show how insidious the Gremlin in the Kremlin's lies can be even to the biggest experts. Set folks straight on this, please, do it for the Ukrainian people, because this deceptive trope I've noticed is being oft repeated by MAGA-world as an argument as to why not to help Ukrainia out if they aren't mobilizing all they can. They ARE mobilizing all they can, limited only by lack of equipment and logistics, not by sheer numbers, no, that isn't the truth at all.

Realist Brit here. The major problem here is that the West is thinking in terms of casualties like in a modern war, and the West is simply believing this mantra of 'unsustainability' and hoping the Russians will simply cave in. This won't happen. The Russians are fighting like in WW1 and thinking about casualties in that way. Don’t forget, the British lost 19,000 killed (plus 30,000 wounded) on July 1st 2016 (Battle of the Somme) and with a population then of about 37 million, lost 2.4 of the population killed in WW1. Russia’s and North Koreas combined population is 160 million, (OK, more older people) so theoretically they’ve got at least 3 millions fighters left. The weaponry is the problem, if there is one, not the personnel. The west sits back and hopes that Russia will totally degrade itself. The West should seize this opportunity to put a stop to the war, militarily, and put an end to the Putin regime once and for all.

They're consistently recruiting some 30 thousand people a month, so it makes up for losses.

“Massive” they haven’t even reach 1 million, and the population of Russia is 140 million. Don’t underestimate their willingness to walk into gunfire.

"Russia cannot sustain the obscene levels of casualty losses " Absurd. The Soviet Union lost between 9 and 11 million military KIA during WWII on a population of 170 million. The current special operation is barely a rounding error in comparison. Even after allowing for a reduced population and aging demographics, they can absorb considerably heavier losses.

Why is Russia using North Korean soldiers if they don't have a problem with losses?

They 'can', but they won't. It's not 1944, comrade. People in Moscow barely even register that a war's on.
