One of my all time favourites, I first heard it in the open air at Hoge Veluwe. a national park in the Netherlands. My wife and I were walking through some woods when this wonderful sound came to us on the breeze, we were drawn towards the source and we came across a special performance - never to be forgotten!
I actualy just heard this music first time to day. My first thought was exacly the same! This is the sound of life it self. Its the most magical music i have ever heard. I heard it all while driving. And after the last note I was completely silent in almost an hour. It literaly felt like my life was changed for ever. Life is like a Beautiful farytale if we want it to be. Sorry for the bad spelling. I just had to get it out.
@@cellomaan INdeed - sound of life incorporates the heartbeat and the essence of life which is an underlying vibration, manifested here in the interactive sound and melodies of piano and marimba.
This is not minimalist music, it is played with 8 hands ( four pianos ) and the changes in the music are light but they are well. Nobody is crazy while listening this music, just kind of people who search peace. Try to listening this a sunday evening in your sofa with a bolls and a little cigario, you will be fine!
@@martinavanlieshout9595 Ben het helemaal met u eens. Fantastische muziek.
Your selection of stone paintings to go with this music is SUPERB! I can’t think of anything which fits the music better. Captivating music, deceptively simple - but as anybody knows who has played this kind of music, its completely exposed textures are NOT easy to bring off. I love this video.
Spring rains today in Chicago...all week to come, actually - and this music pairs perfectly. The water of life, a gift to the seemingly dead earth, then an explosion of glorious color and life. The sum is so much greater than its parts. Thank you for posting this!
This sound architecture amazes me - Of all the minimalist compositions that I have heard (incl. Reich, Cage, Adams and Part) it is for me the most surprising and the most joyful in contact with nature in its "creativity". I imagined the completion of the growth of a mature oak (as if the music was the story of a young tree growing to fullness) A sonic marvel !
I think the seventh version I've heard... three of them live.... and this one is I think my favorite. Desire flowering and surrendering at the same time..... Soft, strong, subtle, sweet, silencing, singing....fits perfectly with the story of the stones - stunning.
Hypnotiserend, kracht gevend, inspirerend.

Sitting by the pool in the late afternoon of Las Vegas (not casino pool!) and absolutely loving how this beautiful music untangles the daily activities of a crazy day.
Huddling indoors from a freezing, windswept and grey English afternoon I'd gladly sit by a Las Vegas pool for awhile. Nature? There's plenty of it swirling overhead right now - I can take half an hour's break from it, no probs! :-)
This piece is so simple yet incredibly haunting, of memories that never fully flourish, or never show their real meaning until reaching an age of wisdom.
Im new to classical music. I often read words like minimal...and...simple...music. For me theres no simple music or minimal music....it depends what you hear in the music...and what you feel while listening....then it could get big or small or nice or bad. Especially with that emotional music....i love it! If i listen to this uploaded music i feel so much...thats enough for me! Just big big feelings....thanks much
Sharon Nowlan & composer are fantastic!! The echoed repetition of graded sounds & images ultimately shuts out all distraction & focuses as well as makes for a kind of meditation. Wonderful pairing. Thank you so much!
Me too Paul, it took me over an hour to find out who the composer was from last night, I finally found out and ordered a CD from Ebay. Really beautiful and quite different.
This is a pleasant sort of discord. It's also nice to see the stone art. Though we know there are stones, tere's something soft about the compositions. Both sound & pictues are delightful.

Actually it goes even beyond the heartbeat - that 5/4 with its ethereal joyous melodies takes us higher...IMHO
