We started making videos also to preserve the memories of our trips. I agree, it's so nice to relive the experiences! Thanks for sharing this part of Singapore. We visited a few years ago and visited most of the main sites. We'll have to come back and check out this space!

Definitely one of the most underrated nature spots in Singapore. I went there 11 days ago. I took a different path while doing my vlog.

Awesome video Darren. I am a kiwi but grew up in Singapore in the early 80s when alot more of Singapore was like this. I then moved to Malaysia. Our house in Singapore was one of the Black and white houses in the Nee Soon area. The best times of my life . I've been back 22 times since. I might have Makan with you one day.

I loved this walk, such a calming area and they have done a brilliant job with the walkway directly from the MRT.

You may check out MacRitchie Reservoir and Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve to discover its native inhabitants. For cheaper & more varieties of local foods option, you can check out local hawker centre - eg. Chinatown Complex, Maxwell food centre etc.

Sadly, I’ve left Singapore but I want to go back soon so will add them on to my list! Love Maxwell food court but went to a hawker not far from my hotel which was great too.

My personal favorite is Chek Jawa Nature Reserve on Pulau Ubin island. The whole place feels like Singapore in the past before urbanisation (a village with kampongs, bicycles and no cars, animals everywhere, abandoned quarries). You can rent a bike and cycle on the trail and occasionally kayak in the abandoned quarries.
It also has a mangrove forest that is currently protected. There are quite a lot of species in the area, but unfortunately because it's the tropics...mosquitoes are common. I got bitten all over when I went there.

This sounds like my kinda place. Will add it to my list and remember to take mosquito repellent!

We visited Labrador Nature Reserve in 2019. I agree you with - it is one of Singapore's well kept secrets. The openness once you reach the bay, the cooling breeze off the water and the chance to have a break from the high density urban areas. A great place to breath in some fresh air and recharge your batteries in Singapore.

you can consider going to the Punggol Coney Island! they have a long park trail and the island you can walk over on foot! some part of the island reminds me of Mona vale in Australia ( the path walking towards the beaches ) Thanks for sharing your day with us! Edit : oh also Highly recommend a shirt sold called *Airism* in Uni Qlo outlets! a must have in the SG heat!

I’ll add it to my list! I actually have a few Airism shirts but wasn’t wearing one that day.

Looks lovely, always makes me feel better when I am around trees. Nice picnic spot there. Must be near to the flightpath to the airport. Red Beacon I believe. In Malay look out for signs something like this "Kera-Kera Nakal di Sekeliling Anda Bejaga Jaga" Naughty Monkeys Around You Be Careful. Nice area so close to a bustling city.

Yes, surprised to see such a quiet spot with hardly anyone around within a busy city like Singapore.

There is a really nice walk from Mt. Faber to the tree top walk where you walk on raised platforms at the tree tops. Very cool, for your next visit.

@@remotedarrenHi Darren. For a country as tiny as Singapore, a surprisingly large amount of land has been dedicated to nature/wildlife. U must not miss MacRitchie Reservoir (wif its verdant splendour n canopy treetop walk); Pulau Ubin (offshore island harking back to days of old Spore...v rustic n back to nature); Sungei Buloh Wetlands Nature Reserve (if u r lucky, u may even witness a territorial fight btw crocs n otters); Bukit Timah Nature Reserve (virgin rainforest). These r just some examples. Hv fun when u next visit Spore. Take care!
