He has a show. At least he did. I dunno if it's still going. It was on Apple. I tried to watch it, but he clearly brought on a bunch of diversity hires in his writing staff, bunch of young-millennial ivy league racists, so the whole thing was just a giga-woke hard left diatribe. It felt like watching a brilliant funny man trying to carry a show single handedly while his staff just piled their personal petty grievances on his back.

You can tell because his segments are extremely well thought out tear-downs of serious political issues that he talks about with concrete evidence and in the framework of finding actual pragmatic solutions. "What's the problem? Why's it happening? Whose it hurt? How do we fix it?" -- You can tell his writers' segments because they're the same exact generic brand of ill-conceived identity politics that NYU millennials worship like it's a cult: "My truth, oppressor/oppressed, objective truth is white men being biased, word police, thought crimes, white ppl bad."

Exactly. The Palestine people have been living so inhumanely & being treated so poorly for decades, by the far right Israeli government & by Hamas aswell, on their own ground and NOW all of a sudden the whole world seems to want to Free Palestine and seems to hate Israel & all its Jewish people, including a terrifying anti semitic tsunami all over the world. Without condemning the HAMAS terrorist slaughter attacks on Israeli innocent civilians at all. WTF is wrong with so many out there? Were these same people also cheering when 9/11 happened & praised Al Quada for those terrorst attacks on the US? Of course the clever bastards of Hamas KNEW that Israel & the IDF would revenge this brutal attack on Gaza, and a lot of innocent Gaza people would be killed, in return, but Hamas doesn't give a f&ck about the Palestinian people... Its so freaking complex & almost feels like a horrible heartbreaking twilight zone for all the innocent civilians being killed right now, both in Gaza as in Israel. Its shocking how many world wide are supporting Hamas and its terrorist method, directly or through the Free Palestine way. Hamas is the enemy of ALL people. Free the Palestines from Hamas! Stop the killing of people & end Hamas now. Peace is the only solution.

And there comes a point after realizing the horrible treatment that Palestinians endured for decades when one question: Are these actually terrorist attacks or a violent act of resistance?
All historical struggles against colonialism were bloody and violent. Hamas are not as violent or blood thirsty as the IDF. So, are we actually calling these attacks terrorist attacks just because they were carried out by Arabs or Muslims?
What constitutes Terrorism? Targeting civilians? All of the NATO countries have done that at some point. The US dropped two nuclear bombs on 2 populated cities to end a war.
The definition of terrorism is an aesthetic one. It's more of a picture that pops to the brain; a Muslim Arab with a weapon shouting Allahu Akbar!

If the nation-state of Israel is criticized for gross overreach and human rights violations (which could be construed as Zionism), that is not the same thing as being anti-Semitic. Being for the civil/human rights of the Palestinian people in that region does not mean one is anti-Semitic. We cannot have these Nazis storming around the region committing atrocities. There is a two state solution it has been on the table for decades now, but it is the harbouring of these terrorist organizations that prevent any real progress from being made. Why should Israel sign on to a two state solution if Hamas crosses the border and slaughters its citizens? Am I anti-Canadian for saying some government across the pond is doing the wrong thing? I have to support Boris Johnson? Absolutely not. And good answer by Jon. No matter what he said, he’d upset someone. Either he’s too soft on Israel or people question his Jewishness. He doesn’t speak for the Israeli government, nor should he, any more than I should have to speak for the UK and their governments. I don’t live there and I don’t have a say. I shouldn’t have to answer for the Canadian government either because I’m just one guy. On the one hand, I’m glad Israel has a home. On the other, what they’re doing to Palestinians is completely unacceptable. Jewish people have been through too much for that govt to tarnish them by behaving the way they are. Speaking as a guy with British generals in my lineage, trust us to screw things up in the Middle East so those guys can’t get along. Every time we go in there, we make things worse. Both Israelis and Palestinians deserve better.

It’s a fair point but it’s short sighted. Even if Israel stopped existing tomorrow Palestinian people would still be treated like garbage by their own governing bodies. And that’s not because of Israeli aggression or British Colonialism. It’s also broken beyond repair when Hamas is saying they want every Jewish person in the region dead.
There’s this western knee jerk reaction to analyze every mistake Israel makes in order to sympathize with Palestine. That’s fine I guess. But I feel that we’re shifting away from all the horrific things Palestinian leadership will do to their own people, and to their enemies.

I could KISS you Jon Stewart!!! You're one of very few people who is in an influential position who is saying that there's a difference between Antizionism and Antisemitism. Just as the Palestinian people are not Hamas, the Jews are not netanyahu's right wing ideology!

    • @Mwasser
      @Mwasser 10 місяців тому

Zionism predates Netanyahu. Likewise, Zionism is not Netanyahu-ism. Nothing in Zionism says that Israelis need to expand with settlements etc, that is just part of Netanyahu's personal ambitions.
Zionism is the belief that Jews deserve to have a homeland, to escape persecution. Antizionism means you believe Jews don't deserve this. It means you believe if the whole world turns on Jews again, as it does regularly (and is doing now) that we should all just die instead of being able to seek refuge and defend ourselves.
Palestinians are not Hamas, you are correct. But Palestinians all deserve a homeland, just as Jews all deserve a homeland. Zionism is the Jewish version of Free Palestine. Both have to exist together somehow.

There was always this feeling where he just lacked something and the whole interview turned into a typical left and right I'm-right-and-you-are-wrong shouting match which just leads to nowhere in the end and the satires literally just made it more like it was a last ditch effort of "Now I've said it, are you happy?" just to shut Morgan up.
Jon Stewart's entire approach to the subject pointed into a more fundemental problem that's been sitting there for centuries that no one dares to even touch and before we get that problem solved, we do have to put the well being of day-to-day Palestianians into consideration and come up with ways to help them instead of just going into political left and right shouting matches.

There's a narrative spreading that's really what some want to believe, but not what is actually happening.
A crash course on history of PALESTINIAN STATE:
    1. Before Israel, there was a British mandate, NOT a Palestinian state!
    2. Before the British Mandate, there was the Ottoman Empire, NOT a Palestinian state!
    3. Before the Ottoman Empire, there was the Islamic state of the Mamluks of Egypt, NOT a Palestinian state.
    4. Before the Islamic state of the Mamluks of Egypt, there was the Ayubid Arab-Kurdish Empire, NOT a Palestinian state.
    5. Before the Ayubid Empire, there was the Frankish and Christian Kingdom of Jerusalem, NOT a Palestinian state.
    6. Before the Kingdom of Jerusalem, there was the Umayyad and Fatimid empires, NOT a Palestinian state.
    7. Before the Umayyad and Fatimid empires, there was the Byzantine empire, NOT a Palestinian state.
    8. Before the Byzantine Empire, there were the Sassanids, NOT a Palestinian state.
    9. Before the Sassanid Empire, there was the Byzantine Empire, NOT a Palestinian state.
    10. Before the Byzantine Empire, there was the Roman Empire, NOT a Palestinian state.
    11. Before the Roman Empire, there was the Hasmonean state, NOT a Palestinian state.
    12. Before the Hasmonean state, there was the Seleucid, NOT a Palestinian state.
    13. Before the Seleucid empire, there was the empire of Alexander the Great, NOT a Palestinian state.
    14. Before the empire of Alexander the Great, there was the Persian empire, NOT a Palestinian state.
    15. Before the Persian Empire, there was the Babylonian Empire, NOT a Palestinian state.
    16. Before the Babylonian Empire, there were the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah, NOT a Palestinian state.
    17. Before the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah, there was the Kingdom of Israel, NOT a Palestinian state.
    18. Before the kingdom of Israel, there was the theocracy of the twelve tribes of Israel, NOT a Palestinian state.
    19. Before the theocracy of the twelve tribes of Israel, there was an agglomeration of independent Canaanite city-kingdoms, NOT a Palestinian state.
    20. Actually, in this piece of land there has been everything, EXCEPT A PALESTINIAN STATE.
The land called "Palestine" never belonged to "the Palestinians". It was never a country, and the "Palestinians" were never the citizens of it. It's a territory that has been occupied for centuries by a variety of different groups, none of which had any claim of ownership of it (except Israel, who has records of the land before century and even Islam was even made to exist).
When the British Mandate was over, this territory came to an end in a failed attempt to keep rival factions happy, the land was divided among them. More than HALF of what was formerly called Palestine was immediately annexed by Jordan. (Notice how the "poor Palestinians" aren't asking for any of that land back? Funny how that works....)
Of the portion that was left, what is now Israel was designated for the Jews, Christians, Druze, AND Muslims who still live there today. (And contrary to what the ignorant seem to think, there were Jews living there throughout. They did NOT all just arrive from anywhere else.)
The remainder of the territory, including Gaza and the Golan Heights, was to go to the Muslim population that didn't want to live with Jews. They refused to agree, insisting they should get the whole region, which was never theirs in the first place. So what happened? Gaza was seized by Egypt, and the Golan Heights were seized by Syria -- and the "Palestinians" got nothing. Whose fault was that?
Do we see the "Palestinians" fighting with Egypt, Syria, or Jordan to get THAT land back? No, of course not! Why is that? It's because most Arab groups hate the Jews even more than they hate each other, which is plenty.
And a question for you, you are welcome to look it up, what does the name "Palestine" means and what is its source? I'm not gonna feed you the answers this time though, you'll have to go and learn. By foot even, come to Israel, go to "Palestine", let's see what insights you'll have then.
    And now what?
Until the Hamas attack on the 7.10, Israel provided the Gaza strip with electricity and water, out of humanitarian courtesy and not obligation or responsibility. Just as the US isn’t responsible for Mexico, or Italy responsible for France.
Israel is fighting to protect its people's lives, attacking Hamas and their war sites in the Gaza strip. All the while, Israel let the civilians know about ALL incoming attacks so they could evacuate. Any dead Palestinian at these sites was not murdered but decided to die. The only exception are the poor children who were not evacuated by their parents, which is their parents responsibility.
No one has the right to judge that, on the contrary - everyone should be a supporter if they care about human life. This is not just a fight against antisemitism, this is a fight against racism.
Hamas is after any Israeli - muslims, christians and jews alike. Be reminded - People were not just murdered by Hamas, 80% were tortured. Raped, burned and beheaded. While others do not believe it the very ones who did tell they did proudly. When people want another group of people not to exist you better believe it.

Their governments dont benefit by helping Palestine, maybe with the exceptions of Algeria, Qatar and Turkey, who dont commit oppression to the extent that their other neighbors do. Iran cant talk, because they only use Palestinians as an excuse to oppose other evil doers, for their own evil leaders to be supported.

It is absolutely to Israel's benefit to resolve it so it won't have to deal with a population that wants it dead which generates major security, demographic, social and economic risks. Gaza has no economic, geographic, or religious value. This is why Israel offered a state to the Palestinians on 5 different occasions and after being rejected time after time, it withdrew from Gaza unilateraly. Israel left Gaza an airport and international ports and coorniated EU and US efforts to donate billions, but instead of building their country, they armed themselves to the teeth, developed no non-combatant infrastructure while digging thousands of attack tunnels to hide over a hundred thousand rockets under schools and hospitals. Maybe its the Palestinian people interest to have it resolved, but they and their elected government Hamas definetly dont act like that! And if you think that the two are not connected and Hamas doesnt enjoy full support from the local population, I suggest you watch the videos from October 7th with the thousands of Palestinians who were more than happy to join Hamas' call for Jihad when the fence fell and invaded Israel with the militants to murder, rape and decapitate babies!

In light of everything now here's why he is wrong: I like John and he makes good points *but.* Israel has every motive to achive peace, because every battle against the Arabs is a lose of lives of Jewish soldiers and civilians, and it's a fact that Israel does want peace because look at gaza, Israel gave up that land and forced people out of there homes, to let the Palestinians self govern... Israel does not wish to kill Arabs just because they enjoy it, they do whatever it takes to ensure there own security and minimal loss of lives. And claiming that the IDF shouldn't kill palastinians is not antisemitic, but assuming that it does all the time, just for the fun of it, is antisemitic. Believeing that 7 million Jews would lie, and slaughter thousands of inocent people without valid proof, especially after the Holocaust, is antisemitic.
