People with a 34 inch inseam and shorter would fit just fine in it. My legs are longer than that, and I still fit. No trouble driving it. Was not expecting that low end torque. It's somewhat alien to experience it in something this small and light. There are just some things that Mitsubishi got 100% right in the '90s. It's because of those years that I'll always be a fan. I hope you can continue to highlight other hidden gems on their lot. Thanks again Duncan... and Mitch... I mean Tom...
Shout out to Jaffro! The sight of the intake manifold reminded me of you. It bears some resemblance to the Hyundai intake. Maybe you can blueprint this engine for us too. 🤠
@Power 2 Weight Too long. The Elantra put me in sort of a quandary. Neither the Colt nor the GSX will be a stock build. The info in those videos will help people less than the stock parts build that went into the Elantra. The Elantra more closely resembles the parts and challenges that most people would be standing over. That's why I did that one first. I don't regret it. I think it's a good study, and it's such a pile that it gave us lots of great troubleshooting info. I'm facing some other real challenges right now with things that happen to cars that sit as a result, but 2019 is all about fixing all of those things and moving the ball. I've been hoarding parts and tools during this time working on my garage and production tools to get ready for what's next. You'll still see the Elantra, but hopefully only on the dyno and likely several videos of it breaking its own records. I've got good plans for that one while the GSX gets built.
Thanks Tom! Nice work! Huge fan of Kei turbo pocket rockets right here! I had a Mira TR turbo in recently, and a Daihatsu Naked last year. Both really fun
The 400 pounds is the cockpit shell designed to take up impact. We may joke of the Smart, but for what it is, it's impressive what they could make with that kind of non-existent crumple zone.
I just love your vids Mitch. Whatever you did to make it look all vhs at the beginning had me spitting my tea everywhere! Good job sir, another Gran Turismo 1 box ticked 😊👍🏽
The Japanese need to re-start this craze of small engined, turbocharged pocket cars because I think they could be pretty popular again. Good fuel economy, cheap to buy and lots of modding potential - they're perfect cars for enthusiasts with less money to burn.
I'm not sure if they ever stopped. They have just changed to meet newer safety standards. Daihatsu Copen, Suzuki Alto Turbo RS, Honda S660. They are all 660cc Turbo Kei Cars you can buy brand new. There may be more.

What a cool small car that made other normal sized small cars bland and common!! I love the dangan ZZs!! The kei cars showed me that small cars can be cool, quirky and unique!! U should review cars worldwide in some time!!
To be clear, the Kei car has been a staple of the Japanese domestic market since 1949. You can read more about it here (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kei_car). The short-lived thing Tom's talking about is the hot hatch era of the 80's where JDM marquee were testing the boundaries of performance in a decidedly nonperformant segment. It's all very 80's. Many manufacturers still build performance versions of various Kei lines to this day, so it never really went away.
Performance Kei cars are really cool. Would love to own the old Suzuki Alto Works or AZ-1. But I have to say my 2006 Suzuki Swift Sport isn't too far off in terms of size/performance... :)
