I am the proud owner of both the Black Bay 58 in Navy Blue on the bracelet, and more recently, the black/gilt original all-steel version to compliment a range of watches in my collection that include the classic Rolex Submariner Date 16610 that I've cherished for nearly 20 yrs. The Tudor BB58 is an outstanding well-made luxury timepiece and I appreciate the rather understated blue dial and aluminium bezel. Like-for-like think of the Blue 58 as a more modern take on its original black and gilt sibling. But I hankered for the warmer vintage feel of the original Black/Gilt version and since it was nearly Xmas I thought what the heck. Although not quite up there with the Rolex in the absolute quality stakes - but why should they when barely 40% of a Sub's retail price - go to an AD and try one of these wonderful watches on. An in-house COSC certified movement, 70 hrs power reserve, staggering lume.... you won't be disappointed.
not sure if I'm in the majority or minority now, but I'd much rather pay for this over a Rolex. Much more suited to my wrist size and not too far out of my reach. Great to see it up close and with a solid review.
I'm with you. The 39mm is quite perfect for most wrists. This piece punches say above its weight. The thing is this is also not easy to get. I'm waitlisted for this BB58 but hopeful. Cheers!
Not minority at all. Rolex is so over-rated it's ridiculous. Tudor any day. More affordable and looks great.
@@scottd1342 yes, rolex "professional" watches don't even have AR coating...Tudor is a proper tool watch, whereas rolex is now a faux luxury watch for speculators rather than true enthusiasts.
@@algorithm007ify well said. It really is faux luxury now and purely speculative. It's like the Dutch tulips hundreds of years ago. The price will crash eventually.

I had the Black Bay S&G for about 6 months.
It was a beautiful watch but like all the other Black Bays it's WAY too thick on the wrist!
I sold it and bought the BB58 instead and don't regret it at all.
The BB58 in 39mm was the right decision by Tudor and I hope they produce their other models in this size too.
After wearing the Citizens Pro Diver BN0191 40mm, wearing a 36mms watch seems diminutive
This is the best black bay for me. Perfect size and look. It’s made me question why I have other watches.

@@kiwifrenchie6036 ceramic would take away the vintage appeal. Bezels can get knocked up and fade and look better if you don't like it replace it, not expensive.

I've had one for a month or so and it has been a pleasure to wear. It's perfect for my slim wrist. I got it with a leather strap which comes with a clasp, I found it to be a bit uncomfortable so I changed it for a thick vintage style brown leather traditional strap. Looks terrific, understated but classic and desirably vintage. Love it!
believe me there is nothing like a Rolex submariner ... the quality and the prestige ... this is also amazing .. especially for the price ... I will buy one in a few year the blue one once its out and u can get 20 percent discount ... then its a amazing .. until then id rather pay twice as much and get the date just 41...
Wonderful review. I just got this, and am really happy with it’s great quality. I love that this fills a niche that the older no crown guard Rolex subs used to fill. I kind of hate the way watches got bigger with no additional functionality. This resets that for me.
Was the first to order this piece from my AD the day it was announced and just received it last week. I’m absolutely in love with it! Looks even better in person!

The demand for this watch speaks for the return of trends to reasonable, proper sized watches, not 'just' wrist size.
I have the 41mm Black Bay (in house movement) and I love the size and look of it. Literally the most perfect watch in terms of quality/movement/price! Now to save up for a GP Laureato blue dial and Ill have the perfect balance for an everyday wearer and my "fancy occasion" watch :)
I love this watch, I just wish the bracelet had micro adjustments.

@@marcvanosch6358 I’m talking about what they just added to the Tudor Gold watch. The quick adjustments, similar to Rolex’s slide lock.
I chuckled when you said that Rolex and Tudor and haven’t adopted the AR properties of some of their competitors. I kept saying to myself “Man, what is UP with all that reflection?”
The 58 looks nice and until recently I was all about putting it down on my “someday” list, however last week I went to a jeweler and tried on the regular Black Bay with the burgundy dial and I fell in love with it.
I’ve been trying on as many watches on my wrist before I embark on my watch collecting journey. The luxury ones will have to wait but I will also try to not fall in the trap of buying to many affordable watches. I know you and other UA-camrs have warned newbies about that.

Great watch. I'm liking the snowflake handset more and more, with the long minute hand reaching right to the edge of the minutes track. Hopefully Tudor will release more iterations of the 58, including one without the gilt hands and dial.

Add a date and it would be the perfect everyday watch for me. For me the 39mm size is a big draw but the best thing they did was the overall thinness of the case - my biggest gripe with the Black Bays has always been how tall they are compared to their vintage inspirations and the 58 is much more elegant as a result.
I reckon they'll bring out a date version at next baselworld
240snusit Snusaren im not sure, no date gives it the clean look, for example sub no date is now more popular than date version in some countries. Personally id buy this over the date

I'm in love with my red BB. This watch is the most accurate I've never seen with about +/- 1 sec per week. Bought it on a leather strap but for a strapcode bracelet which is just perfect too.
I have no clue. Mine is like that when I wear it. When in my watch roll for a few days it losses a few secs. But in my wrist 50-60% of the time. By far my favotite watch of all time. True is a rolex at a decent price.
Great review, fortunate to pick up one a couple of weeks back and very pleased. As others note there is no mirco adjust except three pin positions. High demand in UK and was told if your name is not already down you will probably be looking at spring 19. Let me look at that dial again... !!
Great review, however I feel that you're missing one thing I didnt notice until this one when you showed the bracelet. It's lacking a micro adjustment clasp. I know this was more of an omega feature, however Rolex is now featuring these things which is odd that tudor didnt get the same treatment.
My original BB has micro adjust and I believe this does also. I kept pausing the video and it seems that this clasp does have the micro adjust as well. It looks like there are 3 positions of adjustment which requires moving the spring bar to change, nothing more modern or current like newer Rolex or Omegas.
It does have a three way micro adjust but it doesn’t have any form of micro adjustment on the move in the same way as the Pelagos.
@@tomroman7455 I meant the "push" micro adjustment clasp like omega and recent Rolex. The pin is rather outdated. Sorry for the misconception.

J. Anthony well done, i own the standard one in with same bezel and even though I love mine I would gladly swap it for the less bulky 58, my only complain is mine accuracy is only borderline cosc ( -5 s/day) keep up the good job
Great review. Great watch. I have the BB Purple, BB Bronze and Pelagos LHD in the Tudor line up but think at 39mm this is just a little small for me. My 114060 is the smallest watch I wear.

While I personally prefer the presence and modern sizing of the 41mm version, the 58 version is phenomenal for capturing that vintage feel and coolness. I hope they do a 58 pepsi GMT for 2019.

I might have missed it but I don't think you mentioned the price. It's kind of important. I just bought a new Omega Seamaster 300m Pro Diver 2017 version at $4,400 from an AD. I really can't compare this Black Bay to it fairly without knowing the Tutors price point. I know I compared the Rolex Sub the Omega when I was shopping for my first Diver. I know you like value so do I and thats why I took the Seamaster over the Sub.

Awesome review, and the video angles of the watch are great! I absolutely love the 58. I'm picking up my BB GMT Pepsi next week but I love this 58 as it is a gorgeous piece. The only thing is that I would love for it to be a 41mm instead of 39mm (much like so many people would love the BB GMT in a 39mm instead of 41mm). What do you think about Tudor satisfying the masses and actually releasing the GMT in a 39mm version and the 58 in a 41mm version? I can tell you right now if they come out with the 58 in a 41mm, I will own that as well.
Nice review JA, as was the Rolex “wish I knew then” vid. My dainty 6 ¼” wrist would love this, tho likely rout of my league. I have a milestone B-day coming up next year and the choices for now are either a new Speedy MOTM or a trip to Japan. If only Seiko would make a 39mm diver with a short lug to lug and the 6r15 movement . Keep ‘em coming!
I've owned the BB 58 on bracelet just over 2 weeks now, I also have a 6 ¼” wrist. I love the bracelet, but using the micro adjustment it's either slightly too tight when my wrist swells when warm or slightly too loose, after resizing :(, I've decided to buy a quality Bulang & Son leather strap, which I feel will fit my small wrist better + it'll reduce the overall weight. Good look with what ever you do next year.

Im having a dilemma on picking a tudor 58 or Omega diver 300m 2018(Zr02 ceramic dial). Which one is better? In my mind, I prefer the omega diver 300 2018 but the tudor 58 actually looks amazing too.
39mm perfect size in my own opinion. Definitely wish more dive watches came in this size. It's a nice watch but it's way out of my price range, but even if it wasn't not convinced I would go for it. Think I'd prefer something with a different vintage style, maybe Zodiac Sea Wolf 53. But great review. Thanks man 👍
No lug to lug dimension?
I've looked at this watch, but I've settled on the Black Bay 41 or possibly a Black Bay 36. With a 7 and 1/4 inch wrist, I think the 36 may be too small.

Repluca watches (Chinese or not) even those supported by massive AD/grey market marketing don't get respected. Imagine Porsche makes a repluca of their 911 model vintage 1963 and sells it as WV. How much Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes or Volvo owners are going to respect it. It's possible high-school and college students gonna love it.
Great video. I think it’s a great watch, but it’s just too small for my 8” wrist. I went with the standard BB.
Ever done anything about Seiko watch mods? Like what awcpanama does or what you can do yourself.
Is there a flaw in the glass watch the 12 o’clock marker as the watch moves it distorts the triangle . Ok just checked on mine its edge distortion

If i'm going to buy a next watch this is going to be the one. First I wanted to buy it this year but due to the limited availability it will probably be a target for next year :-) Does anyone know if there are production problems with the movement? I read that there were significant problems regarding the data with the BB GMT. I know it's another movement, but it worries me a little bit.

Few days ago i bought it brand new from my buddy. But i think i paid more than from AD. In my country there is no AD. And i bought with leather strap. I think i did mistake. But i like this mistake.

The 39mm is a great piece it's affordable freely available in the UK and has no cyclops to unbalance the dial..it's not cheap and there are many other homage pieces to choose from but it's a nice piece.

Its very hard to get in the uk, i luckily found an ad who had one in and sold it to me over their waiting list - right place right time! Avoid ad’s in the big cities as more demand

Really nice, but I too would choose the larger version. I'm also a big fan of the Black Bay without the bezel, pictures don't do it justice..such a classy and versatile watch.

No AR coating with Rolex and Tudor is unforgivable in my opinion. I am all in favour for legibility. The modern Rolex Sub with ceramic bezel is even worse.
Aside from the hour hand, it’s perfect.

+Pibbles 'n Bits they are totally different....the black bay feels vintage with modern quality...the Pelagos feels more like a modern diver that is similar to a modern omega planet ocean in feel

I'm waiting for red bezel, a blue/blue, a no-gilt, a no rivet bracelet... figure 2020 all those will be available.

I just got mine and I love it - (if you check my instagram- I have the Hulk, BLNR, Pepsi, D-blue and SD43) and I can tell you that I love this piece. It’s just perfect
