Kirby air ride was such a great game. I have so many memories playing the city free play map, trying to piece together the special cart rides from the boxes 😁

I still think GameStop should focus on retro more, have constant deals and promotions that rotate specifically for the older games and consoles, the prices on their retro selection is usually pretty good imo
Caleb in your Coffeemaker yeah whenever I go to gamestop I always go right to the Xbox 360 section because of all the good deals they have for those games and I can play them all on my Xbox one.
Bossman I felt that recently bought a ps3 cause I’ve always been on the Xbox side of gaming and I was surprised to the good deals they actually had. GameStop gets a lot of shit cause they deserve it but their deals are pretty good sometimes
You want them to focus on retro when they are so notorious for how shitty they treat used physical media? 1. They give the same trade value for loose games without box/manual as they do complete (also condition doesn't matter). 2. They have scientifically engineered the absolute most intrusive stickers ever made by humans, then plaster them all over game boxes. 3. They are known to actually throw away boxes/manuals so that they save on store space. They seem to particularly do this with handheld games such as DS, 3DS, and Vita games. Also, of COURSE they still charge full price for these.
The problem is people trading in their retro stuff want tons of money for damaged items just cause they're old 🙄 or just want to trade in the console but don't have any of the wires for it
a game being loose vs complete in cart will have two completely different values. Almost doubling in price. Buying loose games are a good way to go if you want to save money & just want to play the game. With Used Game Stop games it really comes down to which value you're paying for since it's a mystery of what you'll receive.
I think everyone knows that, but they also know Game Stop have never cared about that. They try to sell display games as new even if they are open and missing stuff, including the original case and/or cover art sometimes.
I've never ordered a game from their website, but the last few games I bought in store all came with the manual. (Didn't really expect that) But, I guess, that really depends on who brings the used games in. For example, 2 of the 3 games I bough yesterday smell of cigarettes. Not bad enough for me to notice right away, but it's noticable with the manuals, since they are hard to clean I'd assume.
I really wish gamestop, where i live, still had "older" games. (They only had about 20-30 ps3 games, 10 of which were skyrim, left half a year ago) Ever since gamestop opened a store in my city, most other videogame stores closed. I knew at least 4 that i loved to go to that don't exist anymore now. Actually, there is only one videogame store left here that isn't gamestop... And over the last few years, they cut half of their space, previously used for videogames, and are selling mostly merch now. The Gamestop store here is right next to a merch only store (Elbenwald)....... Also, their online store in my counrty doesn't have any older games either...

@@dianaburn2474 Yes! Totally. They are amazing Pokemon experiences. Honestly it's a golden chance for them right now. They can: a) Do a remake b) Make a new title or; c)Remaster both and sell them as a collection.
Tales of symphonia was a better experience for me than Pokémon collesseum along with gale of darkness; just because the mechanics were slightly less annoying (purification...)
A few notes: F-Zero GX has a widescreen mode you can enable in the settings. Pokémon Colosseum and XD were used by many people back then to trade Johto- and Kanto-Pokémon (especially Ho-Oh and Lugia) to Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald and are some of the best Pokémon RPGs out there, including Game Freak's games. Sadly Genius Sonority is not allowed to make Pokémon games similar to the main series anymore, but they're still making tons of spin offs. Lastly, there's a trick you can use to make sure that the data on your discs is not damaged, Adam Koralik uses it too. He dumps his games with homebrew as backup and then copies the hash values generated during the process and looks them up in a spreadsheet. If the values can't be found it is probable that the disc itself is damaged. And with the GCLoader he primarily uses these copies to play his games. That way they're preserved and can be played without wearing the discs. 😊
I'm honestly just surprised they all had the cover art. Back when I would go to gamestop, on their used shelf, more than half of the games had no cover art. Just a white sheet of paper with the title in small print.

I definitely think them putting the discs in a sleeve and tucked in the case is better than just putting them on the spindle. With how badly packages can be treated at times by shipping, this seems like an extra precaution that would keep the game from popping off that spindle and sliding around inside the case during shipping.
I think having the disc in the sleeve is a good idea. I’ve ordered some sealed games online before and the disc ended up being loose inside from shipping
I ordered MGS: The Twin Snakes from GameStop a year ago and it came complete with manual and safety warning. This disc's were poorly resurfaced though.

Maybe there was a later release of Pokémon XD that doesn't have the holographic cover art, but there's a version where it's holographic. Or maybe GameStop printed that out to put on the shelf back in the day, like they did with some Metroid Prime Trilogy trade-ins which normally only had a steelbook case.
I was inspired by your first video to order GameStop GameCube games! I ordered 9 and the only one that didn’t work was Smash Melee :( only Tales of Symphonia came with a case. This is truly gambling at its finest
I ordered a Dreamcast, VMU, and Jet Set Radio. Dreamcast had a bad laser, Radio had an inch long crack in it. VMU worked. The best part was that customer service accused me of lying when I contacted them.
You inspired me to pull my cube back out Spawn. It was my first home console, lot of memories. Pikmin 2 and Gale of Darkness were some of my favorite when I was a kid.
One hidden gem for the Gamecube is Gotcha Force. At first glance it might look like a kiddy game, but that game literally, no joke, gave me daily plays for several years. I can't recommend it enough for people to play.
Mario Superstar Baseball, Mario Party 4, Metroid Prime, SSX Tricky, Luigi’s Mansion, Mario Strickers, Mario Kart,. Reasons the GameCube will always hold a special place in my heart.
Kirby Air Ride was AMAZING! I still remember flying up on the tallest building with the Dragoon like it was yesterday...It's too bad I ended up selling it. It's one of my biggest regrets as an adult now.
I was lucky to have a coworker of mine sell me a lot of games for decent price. There were some cheap ones in their for sure. But I was able to land complete copies of Metroid Prime and Double Dash. Along with Power Tennis, sadly without its case.
Actually a lot of early nerds figured out that you could steal the manuals back when the old gamecrazy days. Even now with SOME gamestop stores with current or last gen console cases sometimes leave limited editions out on shelves to steal the sleeves and manuals.
You did better than me. During the B2G2 sale last weekend, I ordered 8 PS3 games. Only two (Saw and Wolfenstein 2009) were CIB, the rest were in generic cases.
I fricken LOVE Kirby Air Ride!!! We played it all the time at my cousin’s house growing up!!! I’m just now building a GameCube collection, and my brother got me Kirby, and it’s still so much fun. I also need the manual for mine though
Same, found kirby's air ride at a local store and bought it only to find its scratched beyond belief, and was in a sleeve and nothing else, for 44 dollars. Thankfully I can have it resurfaced for cheap.
Deci I found a loose copy of Pokémon Platinum at my local used book store for I think $30, so naturally I jumped at the chance (a loose cart on eBay is usually $50-$80). Anyway, I ended up testing it way later and much to my dismay, I found the pins on the card are completely destroyed. The game is unplayable and irreparable. And I threw the receipt out so I’m out around $30. Definitely learned my lesson from that.
@@Ckoz2829 Due diligence is always rewarded trust me. if you're willing to do that extra little bit of detective work up front you will definitely not regret it.

I literally just finished installing Nintendont on my Wii U two hours ago. I’m SO excited to replay all my favorite GC games. Fingers crossed they don’t look too bad on my 65” Samsung RU8000 but hey, at least I get to dust off my GC controllers!

YES! So happy you got F-Zero GX. It's not only my favorite F-Zero game, but tbh, my favorite racing game ever. I still have my copy + manual and everything. No, I will not be selling it. Some day I'll get an HDMI modded GameCube and play it again.
I'm still missing plenty of games in my Gamecube collection. The last one I bought was MLB Slugfest 2004. I've never bought games online, but I may have to eventually. I still have a yearning for Serious Sam: Next Encounter, ZooCube, Eternal Darkness, and Bust-a-Move 3000.
I'll buy from them if I can get a really good deal, otherwise I go with reputable sellers (I treat gamestop as a low-rated ebay seller) - that said, I don't care about CIB and such - I care about functional games (CIB and such is nice, but not necessary for why I collect)
Everyone should be doing their part and buying retro games away from GameStop. Who knows what will happen to this inventory when the company finally goes under. This stuff could easily sent to a landfill at any moment.
@LinklickZ doubt it. I can find lots of 7 games where one of the games i know is $25, for $15. And all of them were good games! Its harder now, then again everyone buy and selling stuff online
Gamestop's used product quality is on par with a low-quality ebay seller's (ie it's best to treat Gamestop purchases like an ebay seller with a below 70% rating) - so it's best to look at it as "is this price worth the gamble" Normally $100 game for $49.99? absolutely $50 game for $45.99? Not so much. (rather spend that extra $5 and know I'll get something that will work :P) Fun tidbit on my years in collecting: I've only ever gotten 3 "bad" products - 2 of them were from Gamestop, 1 was from another retailer (and this was just an abused disk - still worked, just had a sticker and sharpie on disk - which is not something I want to put in my good system), and 0 from ebay oddly enough. (should note - the reason I compare it to a low-quality ebay seller, is because I know people who buy from them regularly - and end up getting about the same rate I get with gamestop)
The content of the video caught my eye, but, the extremely subtle mirror B theme as backround music kept me watching the whole video... I love that Pokemon game so much (':
Guys, collecting for the GC with Gamestop is really easy. Go online, buy 3 or 4 copies of every game you like, keep the best parts, return the rest. 1 week return policy for used games.
F-Zero GX is one of the few GameCube games I have. It's an amazing game, i remember getting it like 10-12 years ago, it costed me like $25 and it came with it's manual.
Hi there, Diego from Argentina. I have buyed and played Killer 7 when I was 19 or 20 years old. I think that is SUDA´s masterpiece, even more than NMH. What a great console is the Gamecube.
It is possible the manuals were discarded as a health and safety concern. Currently, stores are instructed to throw away all paper inserts for trade ins, presumably because of how long COVID-19 can stay on paper surfaces. It's possible the warehouse was instructed to do the same before sending out to guests, as an effort to reduce risk of COVID exposure.
I do have a collection of NDS games that I'm kinda proud, but still have tons of games to pick up. Unfortunately, the situation where I live is kinda bad (I live in Brazil), and not only COVID-19 but also because old games became pretty expensive recently and the value of our currency to the dollar sunk a lot. Also, get a game that is a copy here is very common, and I try a lot to pick up only original stuff. Nintendo DS is a very special console for me, and I hope I can get back to collect it's games soon.
Sleeve is probably safer, I remember when I bought a DVD where the center spindle was actually broken from the factory and as a result the disk rattled around the case and got scratched.
My theory on why none of the games had manuals: They remove the manuals and inserts to save money on shipping. They offer free shipping for orders costing $35 or more. Removing the paper contents would cut the shipping weight drastically. They include the box and cover art because most people wouldn't buy from them again if they were sent a box full of only game dics. I know I wouldn't
GameStop throws away the manuals for the Gamecube games, because someone could have written something in it, so you won’t get any buying them from the website.
Not really true... I got Robocop vs Terminator for Sega Genesis from them and it came with the case and manual. But you’re right, the previous owner did write in it... they wrote the cheat codes in the back of it lol.
Man. Idk what luck I got but my thrift stores has nothing ever, walked in one day got Star wars rogue squadron 2, pokemon xd, and animal crossing in a blockbuster case. Was so happy
I’ve been collecting gamecube games because of you, been working on getting the Mario party’s but it is quite expensive. The good news is that I’m dating the store manager at the local game store, so I get pretty much first dibs on anything that comes in 👍🏼
I don't get why they would keep the gamecube game boxes but throw out the manuals... It makes sense when they want to free up space so they only keep the games in a sleeve, but if you are gonna have the box, might as well have the manual inside of it...
Hey John, I have TWO Broadband adapters near min condition, if you would like to buy I would send them out first and you pay when they arrive. I bought them new and never used them.

Actually a lot of early nerds figured out that you could steal the manuals back when the old gamecrazy days. Even now with SOME gamestop stores with current or last gen console cases sometimes leave limited editions out on shelves to steal the sleeves and manuals.
I'm amazed you got boxes on six of those, and black label Air Ride as well!
Ah I ordered Luigi's Mansion from them a month ago or so and the disc was all scratched up
Same, found kirby's air ride at a local store and bought it only to find its scratched beyond belief, and was in a sleeve and nothing else, for 44 dollars. Thankfully I can have it resurfaced for cheap.
Yeah but did it work?
Deci $44!? For Kirby air ride not even CIB?
Deci
I found a loose copy of Pokémon Platinum at my local used book store for I think $30, so naturally I jumped at the chance (a loose cart on eBay is usually $50-$80). Anyway, I ended up testing it way later and much to my dismay, I found the pins on the card are completely destroyed. The game is unplayable and irreparable. And I threw the receipt out so I’m out around $30. Definitely learned my lesson from that.

Due diligence is always rewarded trust me.
if you're willing to do that extra little bit of detective work up front you will definitely not regret it.
Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness is literally my favorite GameCube game that I own. The story was overall good and I never had a dull moment.
Nice pickups! I also enjoyed Kirby Air Ride. I bit the bullet and bought Valkyrie Profile for PS1 CIB Mint and Legend of Legaia for PS1 CIB Mint.
Have a great 4th man! Stay safe
Just started collecting SNES and genesis... haven’t found anything too crazy yet but I found Final Fantasy II for $38 in good condition
so i was excited about that
I literally just finished installing Nintendont on my Wii U two hours ago. I’m SO excited to replay all my favorite GC games. Fingers crossed they don’t look too bad on my 65” Samsung RU8000 but hey, at least I get to dust off my GC controllers!
Maybe people could start 3D printing gamecube game cases? Could be a good idea.
Also, good luck getting Path of Radiance for a good price if you don't have it yet!
YES! So happy you got F-Zero GX. It's not only my favorite F-Zero game, but tbh, my favorite racing game ever. I still have my copy + manual and everything. No, I will not be selling it. Some day I'll get an HDMI modded GameCube and play it again.
While I'm super happy to see you got a copy of Kirby Air Ride, and I hope you fully enjoy your time with it again
Where is Custom Robo?!
I used to wonder who would still be purchasing Gamestop games (other than casuals/family members)
Oh....so it's you
I'll buy from them if I can get a really good deal, otherwise I go with reputable sellers (I treat gamestop as a low-rated ebay seller) - that said, I don't care about CIB and such - I care about functional games (CIB and such is nice, but not necessary for why I collect)
Gamestop's used product quality is on par with a low-quality ebay seller's (ie it's best to treat Gamestop purchases like an ebay seller with a below 70% rating) - so it's best to look at it as "is this price worth the gamble"
Normally $100 game for $49.99? absolutely $50 game for $45.99? Not so much. (rather spend that extra $5 and know I'll get something that will work :P)
Fun tidbit on my years in collecting: I've only ever gotten 3 "bad" products - 2 of them were from Gamestop, 1 was from another retailer (and this was just an abused disk - still worked, just had a sticker and sharpie on disk - which is not something I want to put in my good system), and 0 from ebay oddly enough.
(should note - the reason I compare it to a low-quality ebay seller, is because I know people who buy from them regularly - and end up getting about the same rate I get with gamestop)
You havent heard of MJR have you
The content of the video caught my eye, but, the extremely subtle mirror B theme as backround music kept me watching the whole video... I love that Pokemon game so much (':
I beat 'Everything or Nothing 007' and 'From Russia with Love 007' for GameCube earlier this year. What a FANTASTIC console generation 😌❤️🎮
Man it’s rly hard to find manuals on their own. So it sucks when you don’t get it. I pay extra on eBay for complete just to avoid the hassle.
While you look for originals you can download and print manuals off a certain site that rhythms with Sims
And it still has amazing graphics at 60 fps and is just like the arcade with the Logitech steering wheel.
Its fun but really hard
Man, I remember back in the GameCube days nobody would buy F-Zero GX so complete used copies sat on the shelf for $7.99.
Hey Spawn Wave, can you put these “This is what the sent me” videos into a playlist? It’d be nice to just have them running while I’m doing stuff!
Hangover sunday, and here I am watching this amazing video.
Kirby Air Ride is my favorite Gamecube game. If we can get a remaster or even a sequel for the Switch, I would die happy
Hi there, Diego from Argentina. I have buyed and played Killer 7 when I was 19 or 20 years old. I think that is SUDA´s masterpiece, even more than NMH. What a great console is the Gamecube.
The look in your face tells that you were really happy doing this video 😜
Those giant black stickers mean the game was at one point broken, but resurfaced back to life
Sleeve is probably safer, I remember when I bought a DVD where the center spindle was actually broken from the factory and as a result the disk rattled around the case and got scratched.
Wow they all came with cases almost . Not bad at all GameStop .... 🤔🤔 maybe I should do this and use all the extra manuals I have xD
It’s strangely therapeutic watching you open up mail.
At least you got the case with your XD gale of darkness, when mine came it just came with the disk in a yellow DVD envelope.
Hey John, I have TWO Broadband adapters near min condition, if you would like to buy I would send them out first and you pay when they arrive. I bought them new and never used them.
Good hunting Spawn. Keep it up!
