I always put a little scrap of bubble wrap in the case to stop the disc falling off its mount because I know from experience that horrible moment when you realise the disc is rattling around inside and you don’t know if it has been all scratched up. I wish new games came with something inside to stop it falling off, like maybe a manual or something weird like that.
In general so many rare games are just way overpriced at this point. I remember back in the day I could go to the flea market in the early to mid-2000s and get good quality games cheap. Now there's way too many repros, people aren't willing to let you take them apart to check authenticity and still want outrageous prices. The retro market in general has just completely gotten out of hand. And game companies are letting them, they're not putting new versions out so that the market doesn't get so inflated.
@@JohnDoe-kv3kd Yeah with the popularity of the internet the prices are ridiculous now lol You can find some great finds though, but even the game shops I've been too don't really have much in the way of retro stuff. Nothing worth getting anyway. It's all online and expensive

That way no adhesive would touch any of the insert, allowing buyers to just slide it out. Too bad many other stores just didn't care, and also thought of its labels as free advertising. When you or anyone buys that game in the future, they'll always see that damn Gamestop label.
In the UK in GAME, you bring up the game to the counter and then they get the copy of it from the shelves behind them, meaning we don't have the stickers on our actual cases
Yeah I worked at GAME for a while and that was standard procedure for used games at least. Barcode sticker on the manual and box. For new games the standard would be keeping sealed product behind the counter, but the last one in stock would always be opened and in a drawer.
Absolutely, definitely one of the best games that has been almost entirely overlooked by the majority of people. The story was amazing, with decent plot and super fun levels + gameplay. It's sad how every generation has AT LEAST a dozen great games get overlooked for no reason, and suffer slow sales. One of the sad things about collecting retro software, is you find ignored classics that never got nor will get sequels despite being totally worthy.
Recently I've been enhancing my GameCube (and Wii) games collection. While I've been adding some games that I never played, most of my games were missing their original cases, artwork, and booklets. Some of these games I'm surprised you didn't already have. Eternal darkness is usually on most collectors lists. I'm happy you got skies of arcadia, I'm currently 2/3 of the way through that game and am loving every minute of it, such a good game!
No they don't from my experience, not that old. And even if they can be peeled off carefully, they leave thick tacky residue that's impossible to remove without damaging the insert. You'll either stain the paper or remove the ink itself.
orchNEStra in my experience of removing spine labels, some come right off, some come off but leave a bit of residue, and some are impossibly hard to get off. Not all are impossible to completely remove though.
Excellent GC pickup video Jon(SW). A Brand New Sealed GC game in Tonk Hawk's American Wasteland, Eternal Darkness and Baten Kaitos aswell, that is some really cool GC games too Pick Up. Remember them Activision n EA Days guys :-(.
I saw the thumbnail and was like "Oh shit, Amazon for the Gamecube? A classic. A real forgotten gem." Then I saw you actually got Mario Party 7 and got sad.
The journey to a complete North American GameCube collection is a fun one and pretty difficult! I just completed my set last week and I have a video series planned about it during the 1st week of March. Smart move picking up Skies of Arcadia Legends btw, the price is quickly going up on that one. You also should go ahead and knock out City Racer, Rally Championship and Tube Slider because those are getting very rare and expensive and most collectors don't even realize it.
Baten Kaitos Origins is the best RPG on the GameCube imo. If you don't have it, you should look it up. I really hope this franchise makes a comeback one day 🤞🏻
sadly it's tricky since I think the IP is owned by namco but the games were developped by monolith (which now only cares for xenoblade). But yeah, these games were very good, still prefer the 1st one but origins is very good too. I wish they at least got ported over the Switch at some point.
I disliked Origins compared to the first one. The first one had far deeper & more complex combat, whereas the sequel did away with a lot of the nuance & defensive stuff going on in order to simplify things for more audiences. Still enjoyed the story & rest of the game, just not as much as the first entry.
@@corey2232 Combat was the main reason why I preferred BKO. Whereas the first game was more focused on micromanaging your decks, BKO's combat was more balanced between managing your deck and having to use skill during combat. You are a lot more involved during combat in the second game, which made the process of enemy encounters less repetitive and more bearable. Still, I've finished both games and they are both fantastic!
Metal Arms was one of the BEST multiplayer experiences back in the day, so many fun modes to play with, and the fact you could make your own modes made it even better. The story was decent, but the gameplay more than made up for that. Definitely an underrated GEM of a game.
Thanks to Toy Polloi, I've recently discovered that Lighter Fluid is excellent at removing stickers from boxes etc. Obviously no naked flames near it, but it will lift that Metal Arms label off in a matter of seconds. Then just give it a few minutes for the fluid to evaporate.
Some excellent pickups. You should get Splinter Cells games, always loved then on the GC. You should upload a game Room tour, show us your awesome collection and your current setup.
Metal Arms is a hidden gem! I have so much nostalgia for that game. Totally worth the check out. The hacking system and all the little droid warfare was just fun and arcadey!
Pretty solid collection building up there man. Nowadays games with manuals are special but come to think of it I never really read them, just looked at the pictures and I specially loved it when they had some drawn art in them. Metal gear manual was practically a manga lol so awesome.
Lighter fluid is great for getting those nasty yellow stickers off the artwork without any tearing or leaving residue -- I have even used it on cardboard retro game boxes and it works great!!
It's not just the Mario Party games that at going up in price, most of the Nintendo developed games are going up in price. My suggestion for a game you should get is F-Zero GX. It's one of the best racing games of all time, I even think it's better than Double Dash
I'm crying that you're comparing the mighty F-Zero GX, to mario kart...yes it is better, by quite a massive stretch. Too bad ppl would rather win races by throwing turtle shells. Rip F-Zero
I played all 4 Mario party games on the GameCube constantly! The one that's most memorable to me is Mario party 4 since that was the first one I got into on the GameCube!
Ever since the announcement for RE3, I have been on a Resident Evil kick lately. I own all of them on Steam and the Switch, but I just had to go on Ebay and buy them all over again for my Gamecube. The Gamecube was so great for Resident Evil and I missed not having all of them on it!
Metal Arms gosh that's such a hidden gem, truly not enough people know about it, the game itself is an experience, especially for its time. Unfortunately the studio technically doesn't exist (bought by blizzard if I'm not mistaken) I sincerely hope that one day it'll make a comeback
I absolutely loved the original Need For Speed Most Wanted on the GameCube versus any of the other systems, that's only because you can do a paint job on there that you couldn't do on the other systems. If you cover the whole body in carbon fiber and then scroll through the pearlescent paint section one of them with the carbon fiber makes the car look like a mirror and you can see reflections of things off the paint. GameCube was the only system that I can get that paint job to work. Lol
Skies of Arcadia ♡ I bought the CD and vinyle last year and when I read last week that Skies developers wanted to ask Sega to do something about that licence, I got crazy ^^'. Well, for the last 15 years, Sega played with our nerves, teasing a sequel, a port, a remaster, ... They said it was THE game from that era that players requested the most with Shenmue. Shenmue got his remasters and sequel but they never did anything for Skies and this is just a waste... Even if I liked RPG's like Baten Kaïtos, Fire Emblem and Tales of Symphonia on Gamecube, Skies of Arcadia will always be my favorite for many many reasons. This JRPG is incredible and even today.
I buy sealed games sometimes. In 2014 I bought a sealed copy of The Powerpuff Girls: Relish Rampage for the Gamecube for no reason other than I just wanted the game and the listing was for a good price. Having had the misfortune of Xbox games warping before, when Blinx The Time Sweeper was added to the Xbox One’s backwards compatibility in 2018, I bought a sealed copy rather than a used one to ensure it would also play on previous gen Xbox systems just fine.
mario party 7 was my shit as a kid i recently found it again in my parents house and played it with my dad and still had a blast with it so many years later
A few years ago I found a shrink-wrapped Super Mario Strikers and Worms Armageddon for the GameCube at Walmart. It wasn't in their system, but it kept ending up in their bargain games bin. Both of them had generic old $5 price tags on there, so eventually I managed to talk them into selling them to me for that amount.
I loved how Eternal Darkness would troll you when your sanity got low... I want to talk about the rage and shock that it caused, but I don’t want to ruin the surprise.
For Baten Kaitos the battle systems from what I remember revolves around stacking as many attack or defense cards on top of each other during each phase to get combos, critical hits and avoid damage. So you could say it's about playing your cards right...
Your collection is now complete you have skies of arcadia! its the one GC i took when I moved out. just to keep it with me so I knew it was safe n not rottin away in storage. Recently bought it for the Dreamcast for the true OG experience. Mint it is expensive and my wife refused to pay the price.
The hardest to find GameCube games and most rare that a lot of ppl don’t know are rare are Men in black 2 Backyard baseball 2007 Slugfest 2004 City racer Grooverider shoot car thunder Auto modellista Buffy the vampire slayer MLS extreme 2002 Evolution snowboarding Pro rally Speed kings Spirit and spells Top angler Tube slider Virtua striker 2002 Zatch bell mamodo fury
Yeah I was on that Gamecube game grind back in 2015 and I noticed any first party titles went from around 30-40$, I have a local shop that used to have around 30 games too, but now they're way up there over 60$ and the shop has at most 10 gc games. For anyone interested in gamecube games I'd recommend just searching the ends of the internet for any roms. Besides more obscure non-rare titles, everything else is just jacked up high and the longer you wait the pricier they get. God I wish Nintendo would just re-release gamecube games.
Had I known how valuable Gamecube games would be, I'd never have opened any of them. Even opened, I was surprised to learn how much some of my games are worth.
Omg you reminded me of Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.. I LOVED THAT GAME! I completely forgot it even existed I put countless hours into that game as a child. I was 5 when that game came out and it was the best.
I bet your kids will love playing these Gamecube games when they're a little older. Especially if you introduce them to older consoles first, because you know, kids start becoming all about the graphics and argue about it with each other as they get older 😊. Great family games and kid friendly games, and multiplayer games that were meant to be played with each other as a bonding experience. Just a little teaching of how to take care of the games and system carefully probably shouldn't get them destroyed too bad 😂
I've been stocking up on GameCube accessories recently. Picked up the keyboard controller, spice orange cube and Gameboy player, and broadband adapter.
What I would give for a sequel to eternal darkness. Absolutely loved that game on game cube. It’s a shame that it never received a sequel. I know they were trying to do one, but it looks like that has fallen through. For me, the most memorable game cube games was smash Brothers melee, eternal darkness, resident evil 4, underground 2, and Wind Waker. Such an underrated rated console.
Nice pickups, I just finished backing up my collection and was sad to find 2 games with bad discs and 3 games missing manuals. Just placed an order last night for Robotech disc-only ($9) and a THPS 3 manual ($4). Also have a bid in for Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes discs-only and trying to find manuals for Burnout 2 and Starfox Adventures. So glad I kept my Gamecube collection, replacing the whole lot would've been astronomical. I still hope to buy a spice orange Gamecube one day though, been looking at Yahoo Japan auctions, they're not too overpriced.
I bought Tall Infinity (a PS1 puzzle game played on the channel Pikasprey Blue) for $7 from Amazon and it was completely new too. Getting a completely sealed copy was a big shock, since I haven't opened a sealed PlayStation game for, like, 20 years?
Eternal Darkness is easily my favorite Gamecube game of all time. It played with your mind and screwed with you so badly. Think the Psycho Mantis scene from Metal Gear Solid when he is reading your memory card or moving your controller. Take that and turn it up to 11, it's that good. You wont regret playing that game, trust me.
My favorite GameCube game is The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition. Has Zelda 1 and 2, Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask, and 3 demos to Windwaker. Found it cheep, either on Amazon or GameStop. Was the very first time I was able to play Majoras Mask because I didnt have that expansion pack. And with the Windwaker demos I fell in love with Windwaker. Use to say it looked bad, terrible, ect. I played 1 demo, I immediately went on Amazon and bought me a copy lol. Still go back to it time and time again

orchNEStra in my experience of removing spine labels, some come right off, some come off but leave a bit of residue, and some are impossibly hard to get off. Not all are impossible to completely remove though.
@@socaranectien1933 Do you play Deus Ex?
Man, hearing about getting Skies of Arcadia for $100 reminds me when I picked up Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance for $60 a few years back.
Ouch...
Me i picked up path of radiance a few years ago ! in mid 2006 for 5$ sealed...
I'd love to see a "State of the Collection" video!
Yes! That or at least a photo on twitter.
I saw the thumbnail and was like "Oh shit, Amazon for the Gamecube? A classic. A real forgotten gem." Then I saw you actually got Mario Party 7 and got sad.
He actually got tony hawk in the thumbnail
The journey to a complete North American GameCube collection is a fun one and pretty difficult! I just completed my set last week and I have a video series planned about it during the 1st week of March. Smart move picking up Skies of Arcadia Legends btw, the price is quickly going up on that one. You also should go ahead and knock out City Racer, Rally Championship and Tube Slider because those are getting very rare and expensive and most collectors don't even realize it.
Ahhh the GameCube....good times, goooood times
Metal arms was one of my favorites for gamecube, Really loved the multiplayer for that game!
Baten Kaitos has an incredible story, original gameplay and tons of things to do in a beautiful world. 9/10
John throughout the video: "remember when game companies made just games?"
Even though I was more of an Original Xbox kid I really love these Gamecube collection videos
I didn't realize how many good games were on the gamecube. I missed a lot of games growing up and still had a great time playing on the gamecube.
Pretty solid collection building up there man. Nowadays games with manuals are special but come to think of it I never really read them, just looked at the pictures and I specially loved it when they had some drawn art in them. Metal gear manual was practically a manga lol so awesome.
Cool!! I love your Gamecube collections videos! Dude I can't believe you're not a big fan of Eternal Darkness I just love that game so much
Lighter fluid is great for getting those nasty yellow stickers off the artwork without any tearing or leaving residue -- I have even used it on cardboard retro game boxes and it works great!!
Metal Arms Glitch in the system... Thought I was the only one that purchased it. 😂
Rip F-Zero
Amen brother! Boost as much as we can to the finsh!
I wish spawn wave showed us his gaming room setup and collection of games. Like a tour video. I'd love to see behind the scenes kinda stuff.
I LOVE Metal Arms. It's so good. It's been sadly overlooked
Holy crap, Cel Damage! I forgot about that game, but the second you said the name and I saw that cover, it took me back, man. Great game!
I remember being amazed with the antenna in metal arms
Metal Arms gosh that's such a hidden gem, truly not enough people know about it, the game itself is an experience, especially for its time. Unfortunately the studio technically doesn't exist (bought by blizzard if I'm not mistaken) I sincerely hope that one day it'll make a comeback
Mario Party 5 is the king of GameCube Mario Partys... HAND DOWN.
Lol
I found F-zero GX just this morning at the flea market. Game and case in decent shape for $10. Got GoldenEye rogue agent with case for $4
I miss FZERO
I never had a Mario Party game, almost all my games were single player only
But most games aren't single player only
I love Baten Kaitos, played it through a bunch of times. Once you get your decks set up right, the combos you can do are so satisfying to perform.
mario party 7 was my shit as a kid i recently found it again in my parents house and played it with my dad and still had a blast with it so many years later
American wasteland is a classic man. One of my favorites
Love it! We all have sold our systems back in the day for a new system...mine was my n64.
GameCube is what started my cod/ FPS craze with those 2 cods back then. Grabbed a PS3 asap for multiplayer after that
mario party 7 was my first ever console game, I still play it to this day. The gamecube has some of my favorite games of all time.
Metal arms is amazing! I played that all the time.
Metal arms is one of the best and most under rated games I have ever played in my life. My god I had to have put 300 hours into that game growing up.
I loved how Eternal Darkness would troll you when your sanity got low... I want to talk about the rage and shock that it caused, but I don’t want to ruin the surprise.
"if you had a gamecube you had a Mario party game" not if you lived with your grandparents...
I don't have a gamecube but I have some Mario Party games but my Mario Party 5 got freaking destroyed
Chibi-robo is a hidden gem on GameCube. Recommend getting it, it’s very underrated.
Underrated and extra expensive 😅
For Baten Kaitos the battle systems from what I remember revolves around stacking as many attack or defense cards on top of each other during each phase to get combos, critical hits and avoid damage. So you could say it's about playing your cards right...
Yayyyyyy the next part in the building a GameCube collection.
Mario party 7 was my shit. Only Mario party I’ve ever owned and playing it with my 3 siblings as a kid is some of the best memories I have.
Your collection is now complete you have skies of arcadia! its the one GC i took when I moved out. just to keep it with me so I knew it was safe n not rottin away in storage. Recently bought it for the Dreamcast for the true OG experience. Mint it is expensive and my wife refused to pay the price.
I have vivid memories growing up watching my bro play both undergrounds and wasteland on the gamecube lol still own it to this day
Every summer on the last day of school (before I started working) I'll get a game for the summer. Skies Of Arcadia was my game for the summer of 2004.
The hardest to find GameCube games and most rare that a lot of ppl don’t know are rare are
Men in black 2
Backyard baseball 2007
Slugfest 2004
City racer
Grooverider shoot car thunder
Auto modellista
Buffy the vampire slayer
MLS extreme 2002
Evolution snowboarding
Pro rally
Speed kings
Spirit and spells
Top angler
Tube slider
Virtua striker 2002
Zatch bell mamodo fury

You do the math
Glad you finally managed to pick up Skies of Arcadia. Great game, good find.
Baten Kaitos is one of my all-time favorite games. It’s FANTASTIC.
“It has cards”

I bet your kids will love playing these Gamecube games when they're a little older. Especially if you introduce them to older consoles first, because you know, kids start becoming all about the graphics and argue about it with each other as they get older 😊. Great family games and kid friendly games, and multiplayer games that were meant to be played with each other as a bonding experience. Just a little teaching of how to take care of the games and system carefully probably shouldn't get them destroyed too bad 😂
Metal Arms is one of the best tpf games from that gen, it rumbles like crazy with Control S on Xbox. Freedom Fighters is also one of the best tps.
I've been stocking up on GameCube accessories recently. Picked up the keyboard controller, spice orange cube and Gameboy player, and broadband adapter.
He didn't even smell the manual for factory freshnesss!!! Oh the lost opportunity!!!
Fun fact... i had MP 1-3 on n64, but even though I had a GameCube, never had a MP game on it
What I would give for a sequel to eternal darkness.
I played Mario party 4 the most. Every board in 4 is just so good and brings such joy
Never saw a Gamecube or its games and I thought at first the disc was a 12 cm one and I went "holy shit that's a big hand!" :D
Eternal Darkness is my favorite GameCube game and one of my favorite games overall ever. It’s so awesome!
This video made me realize I have all mario party and most nintendo game in mint condition. I guess it's like a treasure right now...
Waiting to see Pokemon Colosseum/XD Gale of Darkness in this gamecube game collection series
I remember THAW was about $35 the day it came out instead of the usual $50 for a new release
