I have 4 PV M cabs from 1986 and 1987. All with G12K-85's. Phenomenal cabs. The more you push them open, the more alive they get. I don't think the K100's I have tried are the same but very close. The 85's have a bit more girth.
Wow I was always the V30 guy, but that k100 sounds phenomenal! V30 sounds great on its own when you hear it at first, but when you hear the k100 before V30, the V30 sounds like it has some kind of lo fi filter on it.
@putalawea equisde man I literally just moved my mf cab and put back in the k100’s Im using a mesa 412 os v30 X dv77’s with a 212 with 2 swamp thangs. The low end is amazing and that v30 fizz is gone, you wont notice that fizz until you compare with the dv77’s
With v30's you have a sound that is even too much audible but awful...why would you prefer that? Doesn't make any sense to me. I'd rather prefer a good sound that may be muddy and get lost instead.
Amazing how different cabs and speakers have such a significant impact on the tone. It's like this with IRs in the Axefx and I always think there must be an issue with the IR...but this proves me wrong. Thanks Ola.
I find it funny that some would say K100's would disappear in a mix more than the V30. Does it sound like kerry king disappeared with his k100's. He plays an all maple guitar, 81's, pushed mids, on KT88's and the k100's give him that hard, dark characteristic sound that's loud and crushing! So the package is clearly more important than just one component. If your gonna use a k100 then consider the rest of your signal chain when deciding YOUR tone ;) K100's have less, and smoother highs, you might consider paring it with the more harsh sounding dual rectifiers to tame the highs allowing for more tonal range of the amp as an example, especially when pushed by a pedal to tighten the bottom, which usually also equates to high's that are a bit harsher. Pick the speaker that helps add or minus the character you wish to accentuate or eliminate;) cheers
I like the k 100 , there’s a lot of touring bands that use them ,slipnot and slayer to name a few , the two speakers together in a mix would sound great
Sure making me feel better about making my "Blind" 100w speaker purchase, listened to my local Guitar shop guys and got this as they couldn't get a redback in, Ola you are the shit bruh!!! massive thanks!!
Thanks you Ola. I'have this conbination. The K100 sound better for me when the microphone straight into center speaker cab, there is more presence in the sound.
Aaaah the mini Satan - also known as the "Little Nicky". The speakers sound like a great combo. By themselves the K100 sounds nicer to me and V30 sounds a little harsh. It'd be interesting to hear the same test in the context of a mix. I'd imagine the V30 might sound a little less harsh in that context and maybe cut a little better through the mix than the K100.
The V30 probably will be easier to cut through the mix, cutting a little bit of the harshness is also better than boosting freqs on the K100. I find that blending both sound badass!
PSA: Different speakers require different settings. Just because speaker A is more bassy does not mean it will "get lost in the mix". Ola did not mean to make a shootout, he demonstrated how you would use and mix a cab with two different speakers.
Great review/comparison, as always. This is the final piece of research that's led me to the decision of G12k-100's in my upcoming 2 x 12 purchase. I'm not the biggest fan of The V30 & I've never really heard a huge difference between those & The 12T-75's/70/80's, as many profess, but, tone is subjective & our ears are all different, however, The K-100/V30 combination does sound quite tasty. Thanx, again, Ola. You rule! Keep on Chuggin'.
Many will like the K100 better but you don't consider how it sounds in a mix. For a tight metal sound you need those harsh mids and highs. So V30 for life
It's worth noting that Hughes and Kettner did this back years ago with their warp t cab...not the warp 7!...I had a warp t half stack and it was a beast! Way better than any mesa or marshall!
K100 sounds quite fine, but I think it would disappear in the mix.. I totally would prefer cutting the high end on the V30, than to boost these using K100. Anyway, Laboga FTW!
pretty sure Mick Thomson uses K-100's too, they're in his signature cab anyway (cept they're seven badged) @ Mateusz i put a mix of a v30 & K100 in my 2 x 12 & run a thrasher thru it and like it also read G12T-75's mix real well with the V-30's too (think that might even be whats in Ola's satan cab) but i went with a K because its closer in sensitivity (loudness) T-75 is 98db K100 is 99db & the V-30 even tho has the least power handling of the 3 is the loudest @ 100db . celestion suggest not to go more than 2 or 3db difference when mixing speakers or one will drown out the other at the same volume. i can clearly hear the V-30 is louder in my cab (only a little but it dominates) and prob why it seems bigger sounding in this video (apart from the spikey mids on the v30) but the K adds some nice bottom end punch only thing that sucks is the K-100 only comes in 8 ohm so limits your options if upgrading & want to mix it up with your current speakers & they're 16 ohm or wiring up a 4x12 unless you want a 8 ohm cab (in a 2x12 it can be 16 or 4 ohm mono or 8 ohm stereo) also they're expensive mine was $70 more than the V-30 but could be just because of availability in my country since i had to go searching for it to find one but i think it was worth it
We used K100 + V30 with David to get "one" of the best mixed-sound for Metal , i can't only choose for only one .. you must try V30 + A type "the" best mix to play with Kemper - Fractal - Bias amplifiers . Tested and approved in DL 212 Pro series . Cheers !
I like qualities in both of them. I bet this cab sounds killer in the room. If you were to get the sweet spot mic'ing both of those I bet you could get some killer tones!
BUMMER. I would most definitely buy one because i think the Satan sounds better than the 6505 I currently have. But the 100 watt Satan is too expensive for me.
I was surprised w/ the K100 it sounded great but I like a different tone that a lot of speakers can't push like the V30's. A Huge scooped tone. Marshall Mode Four Cabs (MF400) have the G12K-100 speakers. Kerry king uses these cabs.
K100 is my favorite Celestion...I have a similar set up...a custom built 2x12 with a G12K100 and an Eminence Governor. I can't stand the V30 and the Governor is more or less an improved version of that IMO.
Hi Brandon! I was very happy finding your comment! I explain: I'm a guitar player in a hardcore band from Brazil... And already got a pair of the K100 in a 4x12 cabinet (made by my self). I'm planning to replace the other two speakers, but I just can't decide between the Eminence Governor and the V128. I've been watching a lot of reviews... And I figured out, if I'm not wrong, that the V128 sounds very close to the V30. But the mid ranges of the Governor seems to be just fantastic! And because I play in B tunning, maybe these raunchy mid ranges would be very useful... I would be very pleasured if you could give me some tips about that... And maybe post some video of your own. Thanks!
i have a orange cab with the k100 and i use a beamblocker and i totally recommend it... otherwise you're always too loud for the mixer and fron row and too quiet for yourself + with the beamblocker the higher frequencies of the center spread better in the room and the sound in front of the cab and when you're standing next to the amp is much more alike so the people in front of your hear the same signal as you and the mixer ... so eqing is easier too ... have you tried these already ola ?
K100 is very naughty. If You want Ola, I can send to You IR from 112 DL on Eminence V12 + e906 or tube condensed Nady Mic. Sounds great and huge in mix. Cheers
Hi Ola! Im new in AMP/CAB world and i don't get how to connect my amp (Bugera 6262) to mu 212 cab correct without burning something and I don't play right now - how to connect them? :/
I've got K100 in my 2x12 cab. They are darker in sound and have more meat than v30 in my opinion. I use Bugera 6262 amp, and they match perfect - also in the band mix and live acts. Good alternative for v30, wich sound more bright - Not my taste.
Hey ola, I'm wanting to buy a Randall diavlo 100 and it has 1 16 ohm output, and 2 4 and 8 ohm parallel outputs, what are the ohms of this cab when running it is series and parallel/ mono and stereo, thanks great vid
I own 2 4x12 Diezel FL cabs loaded in a x-pattern of these two speakers. IMO - the most versatile configuration for ANY style of RnR - BABY! 😎 In addition, fellow guitarists, never forget about your guitar's fucking volume knob. It does when you want less or more gain. It also helps if you have a SD SH4 JB installed in your bridge slot. Peace love and all that Jazz...
Std is more for Blues-rock-hard rock less accurate , no partition inside + not the same front wood shape, lighter . Pro mix 2 kinds of wood , very accurate , more basses , tight trebles , partion inside , different front wood shape , For all kind of Metal and really nice clean sound .
Ola, I am a huge Randall fan (I use the Thrasher 120 and 50) and I love the convenience of the smaller amp when having to drag one to practice. If there is any influence you can use to nudge a half-satan intro production, you would be doing the metal world a huge favor. SOUNDS DOPE through that cab too! Personally, I have always thought V30s sounded better in the mix than in the room, is it the same with the K100? The blend sounds great!
Does anyone now whats the differnce between a Laboga and the tDAvid LAboga Brand is?-I think david is the Founder of Laboga Amps too?...but why does he has a Brand with David in front of it..
Adam Laboga and David Laboga runs different companies. DL David Laboga is cabinets and cables of very high quality. I have both cabs and cables from there, very reliable and high qualirt.
Hey! Ola, how does the cabinet sound kranked up pretty loud in the room with both speakers.... I was considering getting these 2 speakers for my 2x12 and wanted to know how they blended in the room/ambient at a loud practice pad volume... thank you
My custom cab is 2xK100 and 1xV30. Incredible tone. Way less fizz than a cab full of v30's, but just bright enough to get over the mix. Just be careful, the K100's crank some SERIOUS low end and without a filter can get really muddy. I love the mix of them, but in this instance I'd go K100
Hi Ola. just subscribe to your youtube channel about a week or two ago. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and tips on guitars and guitar equipment. nice and funny videos. I have a question and it's out of the title you put up on this video. what video editing software do you use? Thanks a lot and more power
in fairness the k100 sounds alright , maybe it lends itself to metal , in real life ive never heard a 80 or 100 watt speaker that sounds good, I don't have a lot of technical knowledge but when ive played old fanes and celestions that are 20-30 watss they sound best to me , I like v30s though
I can't say that I loved either speaker by itself but both of them together kind of sounded like a dragon and a unicorn having a mythical fight...or sex.
i have a cab with 4 k85s ( the original k100) and i cut through in the mix just fine and i love this cab
Then you have a Peavey VTM cab most likely..nice!
I have 4 PV M cabs from 1986 and 1987. All with G12K-85's. Phenomenal cabs. The more you push them open, the more alive they get. I don't think the K100's I have tried are the same but very close. The 85's have a bit more girth.

It's the fact that the low end is nice and round and the mids are nice and present but not weirdly voiced like the V30
That's why because you people don't even consider nothing else than what the trend is.
The combo of them both sounds clear, huge and articulate
I just got a Soldano 412 cab with 2 v-30's and 2 K100's. sounds amazing
Kinda want to replace 2 v30s in my Soldano 4x12 with something else. Was thinking Scumback BM75LDs, but maybe K100 is the answer.
I use a mf400 k100 and mesa os rectifier cab v30 blended, both great speakers!! Im planning on x pattern 2 from each into opposite cabs 👌🏻
@putalawea equisde man I literally just moved my mf cab and put back in the k100’s
Im using a mesa 412 os v30 X dv77’s with a 212 with 2 swamp thangs. The low end is amazing and that v30 fizz is gone, you wont notice that fizz until you compare with the dv77’s
K100 center speaker sounds awesome!
k100 for pleasure v30 for the mix

@@lovecraftmusic8717 lol u contradict yourself and sound silly
Naw i'd rather have the k100 for mix. It has a more even frequency response.
I think they sound fantastic together, each one brings in what the other one lacks. I would think a cab mic'ed with both speakers would sound amazing.
Amazing how different cabs and speakers have such a significant impact on the tone. It's like this with IRs in the Axefx and I always think there must be an issue with the IR...but this proves me wrong. Thanks Ola.
The combination is perfectly balanced. I like both speakers combined.
Love Them both, best mix in cab, i run two 412 DL laboga custom pro cabs with v30's & k100.
I find it funny that some would say K100's would disappear in a mix more than the V30. Does it sound like kerry king disappeared with his k100's. Melhor canal de demonstração de equipamento
both of them joined sounds epic. the more scooped k100 and the brighter v30 complement each other very well!!!!
Veeeerrrry nice Ola :)
Love theese cabs🤘 i have two red 412 v30 and k100 in xpattern, so thight and with Huge attack.
Great review/comparison, as always. This is the final piece of research that's led me to the decision of G12k-100's in my upcoming 2 x 12 purchase. Wicked mix together... damn.
so awesome! glad your back at what I originally subscribed for years ago dude! love it!
Many will like the K100 better but you don't consider how it sounds in a mix. For a tight metal sound you need those harsh mids and highs. So V30 for life
i prefer k100.(i don't scoop out the mids)
Theres ways around that. Its mostly mic placement
Thanks for the comparison vid! Would be cool to also hear the differences in a mix.
V30 sounds best to me BUT these two blended sound so well. They compliment each other well.
I liked both mixed together but prefer the k100. I have an mf400 cab with k100s and it sounds bad ass.
I need that "Mini Satan" specs!! Do a demo or a play trough please!!
It's worth noting that Hughes and Kettner did this back years ago with their warp t cab...not the warp 7!...I had a warp t half stack and it was a beast! Way better than any mesa or marshall!
the fuck with the mic's position from 02:45 an on? :D
I've compared these two speakers some time ago. For metal - K100 is the king for me.
K100 sounds quite fine, but I think it would disappear in the mix.. I totally would prefer cutting the high end on the V30, than to boost these using K100.
Anyway, Laboga FTW!
i read somewhere black dahlia murder uses k100s with 5150s and they sounded fucking great live last i saw them.
pretty sure Mick Thomson uses K-100's too, they're in his signature cab anyway (cept they're seven badged)
@ Mateusz i put a mix of a v30 & K100 in my 2 x 12 & run a thrasher thru it and like it also read G12T-75's mix real well with the V-30's too (think that might even be whats in Ola's satan cab)
but i went with a K because its closer in sensitivity (loudness) T-75 is 98db K100 is 99db & the V-30 even tho has the least power handling of the 3 is the loudest @ 100db . celestion suggest not to go more than 2 or 3db difference when mixing speakers or one will drown out the other at the same volume.
i can clearly hear the V-30 is louder in my cab (only a little but it dominates) and prob why it seems bigger sounding in this video (apart from the spikey mids on the v30) but the K adds some nice bottom end punch
only thing that sucks is the K-100 only comes in 8 ohm so limits your options if upgrading & want to mix it up with your current speakers & they're 16 ohm or wiring up a 4x12 unless you want a 8 ohm cab (in a 2x12 it can be 16 or 4 ohm mono or 8 ohm stereo) also they're expensive mine was $70 more than the V-30 but could be just because of availability in my country since i had to go searching for it to find one but i think it was worth it

Hello from Brazil, my friend ... very good, your lessons and videos!
cab and cable builder ... and manufacturer of the magnificent and affordable tube amps
Very nicely done Ola! Thank you!
What version of the Randall Satan is that? I WANT ONE
Adam McPherson 50W i think
are those for sale??,
nope.
BUMMER. I would most definitely buy one because i think the Satan sounds better than the 6505 I currently have. But the 100 watt Satan is too expensive for me.
Adam McPherson yes on Thomann
I was surprised w/ the K100 it sounded great but I like a different tone that a lot of speakers can't push like the V30's. A Huge scooped tone. Marshall Mode Four Cabs (MF400) have the G12K-100 speakers. Kerry king uses these cabs.

Thanks!
k100 off axis with the treble and mids pushed more would sound great
K100 best ever. Got a MF400 collection at home :D
I’ll trade you a 1960a for it hahaha 😝
V30 for me, greetings from Poland :)
is that a mini Randall Satan?
You can't beat that V30! Killer
The V30 for me Ola.
The K100 makes your tone go full Pantera. Heavy as hell. Scoops out more mids than the V30 for sure. I would say the K100 has more bass as well.
I really liked both! The blended sounds were great. I'd love to here this cab in person. Also add me to the inquiry list about the Smaller Satan head.
Hey ola, i'm not an expert but the k100 is full of sound. I love that more
Interested to hear these in a mix for sure...I know what I'm doing tonight!
Love the K100 here.
The K100 sounds far more together. the v30 is scratchy. I use a Marshall Mode 4 cab for just this reason!
mode 4mf400 cab has k100s mf280 has hellatone 60ls not k100s
I have the MF400 cab. I mix 2 K100 and 2 (english) V30 with new wiring (quality one) and change every screws and I just LOVE my cab !
Lovin that V30
i have a orange cab with the k100 and i use a beamblocker and i totally recommend it... otherwise you're always too loud for the mixer and fron row and too quiet for yourself + with the beamblocker the higher frequencies of the center spread better in the room and the sound in front of the cab and when you're standing next to the amp is much more alike so the people in front of your hear the same signal as you and the mixer ... so eqing is easier too ... have you tried these already ola ?
For me it's the last blend that sounds the best V30 outside center cap+k100 straight into center speaker cab.
For me it's the V30 hands down. Combined together it's nice though.
The K100 sounds badass!
I like the V30 but both together was great.
K100 is very naughty. If You want Ola, I can send to You IR from 112 DL on Eminence V12 + e906 or tube condensed Nady Mic. Sounds great and huge in mix. Cheers
Hey Ola, you have a plan of tests of celestion's V-Type and A-Type ?!?
V30'S IS FOR ME !!! TKS OLA
K100 the best! Together, amazing!
David Laboga all the way, dude.
Good alternative for v30, wich sound more bright - Not my taste.
the k100 is atleast on my phone the better sounding speaker. it has way better lows and balanced mids, less highs. thicker and chunkier
In addition, fellow guitarists, never forget about your guitar's fucking volume knob. It does when you want less or more gain. It also helps if you have a SD SH4 JB installed in your bridge slot.
Peace love and all that Jazz...
K100..more deep dynamics and less nasally...both are a great mix!
Would the k100 work in a 20 watt combo like an ht20 for metal?
I have a David Laboga 2x12" with v30's. Wanna try one Creamback on it!
Std or Pro ??
I don't know, the information is unreadable on the plate ... :/
What's the difference between them?
Std is more for Blues-rock-hard rock less accurate , no partition inside + not the same front wood shape, lighter . Pro mix 2 kinds of wood , very accurate , more basses , tight trebles , partion inside , different front wood shape , For all kind of Metal and really nice clean sound .
Ow, I really appreciate knowing this! Now I know it's a Pro and why! Thank you so much! |m|
You're welcome .
EXILE from Poland uses only DAVID LABOGA Custom guitar cab 2 x 412 PRO & bass 8x10. Best Regards !!!
Must be a great sound!
Will Inglis only 8 x WGS Veteran 30 speakers made in USA
Ola, what is the details on that amp? Smaller version of regular Satan? When is it available?
Ola, I am a huge Randall fan (I use the Thrasher 120 and 50) and I love the convenience of the smaller amp when having to drag one to practice. If there is any influence you can use to nudge a half-satan intro production, you would be doing the metal world a huge favor. SOUNDS DOPE through that cab too! Personally, I have always thought V30s sounded better in the mix than in the room, is it the same with the K100? The blend sounds great!
Would a K100 sound good paired with 75w creambacks in an x pattern
yep this is why I mix k-100 with v30.best of both worlds
Does anyone now whats the differnce between a Laboga and the tDAvid LAboga Brand is?-I think david is the Founder of Laboga Amps too?...but why does he has a Brand with David in front of it..
Adam Laboga and David Laboga runs different companies. DL David Laboga is cabinets and cables of very high quality. I have both cabs and cables from there, very reliable and high qualirt.
are they are Brothers?
The insane difficulty of which speaker sounds best!!
Hey! Ola, how does the cabinet sound kranked up pretty loud in the room with both speakers.... I was considering getting these 2 speakers for my 2x12 and wanted to know how they blended in the room/ambient at a loud practice pad volume... thank you
I prefer just the V30. But the blends sounded cool.
I need that mini Satan in my life Ola
I'have this speakers on my cab Laney212. It's a fucking awesome mix !!!!
in fairness the k100 sounds alright , maybe it lends itself to metal , in real life ive never heard a 80 or 100 watt speaker that sounds good, I don't have a lot of technical knowledge but when ive played old fanes and celestions that are 20-30 watss they sound best to me , I like v30s though
Just discovered that the song on the intro sounds exactly like "Ain't my last dance" - FFDP
Ola, how guitars are you tall?
Bryan Patrick Music Depends - are we using 25.5″ or 24.75″ scale length?
Pawland? Never heard of such country. Where is it?
I think it's where otters live
0:22 I believe they are rare breeds named "itchy otters"
*Poland
In Europe
I can't say that I loved either speaker by itself but both of them together kind of sounded like a dragon and a unicorn having a mythical fight...or sex.
Ola, you still with Randall? Tell 'em to cut loose with those 50 watt Satans!
Can i get a tab for this riff?
Are these speakers good for metal?
The more I see comparison videos between V30 and other speakers, I still prefer the V30.
I like the k100........ subscribed
That tone at 2:43 has a lot of...balls.
MINI SATAN. I NEEDS ITS. I also need a full sized as well.
song in the back pls?
I like the low end of the k100
yeah the vintage 30 just has an all around better tone in my opinion
how about Harley Benton cab's...?
those cabs are more about the speaker in them, less about the actual cab, cuz it's a rather poor excuse of a cab in terms of design
