Good video, i come back to some of your videos like this at times before doing total spray jobs on fiberglass kit cars and respray jobs. We do a lot of the same things and use a lot of the same tools. I am still using the blue Porphis prd-715 you sold me there early spring this year. I love it for clear. That Devilbiss DV1-C Clear gun doesn't even come out of its box anymore since you got that gun to me.
Fantastic job Pharraway as you mentioned your videos are shorter than some but you include what's needed to show us how it's done, great content my friend you are very talented and skilled at what you do 👏👍 It was great to see you join us over at Tony's Refinishing last night on his premier and live chat 🤗 I hope you will pop in again when you can as it's people like you that help people like me to learn this interesting trade or for me a hobby 👏👏👍 John UK.
Thank you farraway for the tutorial on the block sanding well explained 1 question the cut through after using etch primer do you need to sand it smooth before base I always use a 800 so I dont cut through again thank you for sharing and I'm glad we met Lucy the dog
What do you think regarding wet on wet apposed to painting over dried primer. Mechanical vs chemical adhesion. If I get an orange peal in the primer it will show in the top coat, so sandinding the primer for mechanical adhesion would be the only way to go in order to cut back on orange peel in the top coat. Hope that made sence. Thanks.
Thank you Mr. Pharraway. I got driver side of my Elco blocked. I got a few low spots. Minor. I figure one more attempt and finish the gallon of primer, n block one more time should be good. Thats for the minor low. If i run into a really low spot I can swipe a skim coat of glaze on it right? I dont wana go to bare metal right?
I'm still blocking mine. But I didn't know it was OK to use a DA with the finer grits...I've been doing it all by hand and block. Is there a store chain that sells the interface pads?
Looks good. I have a question you said that when you have cut throughs to metal you use metal etching primer. What do use if you have cut throughs to some filler?
@@PHARRAWAY Hi love your videos I have a lot of friends here in Australia that watch your channel I also have a question if I rub through to the original top coat do I need to prime those areas again I’m hoping not as I’ve rubbed through in a fair few places I think I was being a bit to heavy handed with the DA 👍🏻😊
Good information brother. One question please. I just bought a Ingersoll Rand 315 G straight sander and I would like to know if I can use it with 220 &320 instead of a DA. Or do you think it’s more of a peeping tool and not final stage sanding? Thank you and God bless you.
So what was the primer om the car?? Was it epoxy or polyester? That's the problem with all the guys posting these how to videos, they never start FROM THE BEGINNING!!
Best explanation on UA-cam and I definitely need to find quick check
Well done and explained Pharraway
Thanks brother
Very great teacher! Thanks Pharraway! Subscribed!

no you don't just spray and after 15 to 20 min you can apple your sealer
Thank you
i love your work base coat on 320 could i go 400 600 and 800 then base coat
correct

Looks great. Are you sanding on a high build primer or just regular primer? Thx
High build primer
What steps do I take to prep a new body babel for a 1970 c10
I do have several videos on that on my channel

Yes just use a skim coat of glaze and reprimer and block it you should be good
@@PHARRAWAY I appreciate you. Your a great teacher. ✊ Watching from Denver, Co.
I head u shouldn't use hook and loop blocks is that true? I already bought them and the sand papers
not true
How long should i wait until my primer dries until i wet sand the primer? Then how long should i wait until i put color on top of the sanded primer?
I'm still blocking mine. But I didn't know it was OK to use a DA with the finer grits...I've been doing it all by hand and block. Is there a store chain that sells the interface pads?
I left a link for the interface pad on the discription
Si te quedan esos lugares pequeños de metal, usas el Self etching primer en spray can? Para que seal más rápido en lugar de tener que usar la pistola?
Si amigo
Can you spray epoxy over bondo body work. Oris it better to epoxy first then do the body work etc?
You can but it's much better to do your bodywork first
Love your videos
Thank You very much
Does the DA sander have the hook and loop style? Website looks like its stick on type.
Thanks.
Yes it has a hook and loop
Good job❤
Good video 👍💪💪
Do the etch primer need to be scuffed before paint or it will fall into the 320 scratch
No if you spray it 20min before applying your paint
Looks good. I have a question you said that when you have cut throughs to metal you use metal etching primer. What do use if you have cut throughs to some filler?
if you cut-throughs to some filler I will use a sprayable aerosol primer let is set and sand that area

What kind of primer is that brother. Very good job and explaining the process. 🤙🏻
it's from reoflex High Build primer

it can be used for that
@@PHARRAWAY thank you for answering
So do you base coat over the 320 you don't go any higher like 400 /600 ???
No I base over 400grit
I always sand to 400 for solid color and 600 for metallics , 320 will show sand scratches
I didn't see u block with the 320 is 220 good for final sand before paint??
I did not want to make the video so long
@@PHARRAWAY so 320 is final
Do you use 1k self etch primer with can or 2k? And also do you scuff the self etch after?
When it's small areas I use 1k rattle can, and if your going to spray that day you do not need to sand if it's more than 24hr yes scuff it
@@PHARRAWAY Thank you I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge! Keep up the good work!
Was this a high build primer?
Yes it is
Quick question, do you guide coat between each block sanding session? (aka 180, 220, 320, 400)
Yes I do
do you sand away the quick check? It looked a little ruff. Also is the self etch okay if you sand down to epoxy primer?
No the quick check is removed with a microfiber towel and yes on the epoxy
@@PHARRAWAY Thank you. And once again great videos
I'm subscribed and I'm not getting notifications for your videos! Hate that, but great job as always!
Thanks brother
@@PHARRAWAY You're welcome Sir
👍🏻
Remind me not to redo a round😂 car I'm doing a TJ jeep 🤣
So what was the primer om the car?? Was it epoxy or polyester? That's the problem with all the guys posting these how to videos, they never start FROM THE BEGINNING!!
It's obviously not epoxy
U still should be using a round block not ur hand or fingers
Chris, can you apply bondo over high build urethane primer?
