    Dear Justin and staff,
    I did appreciate the fact that you gave some factors that cause us to be flat when trying to sing on pitch. However, as far as I'm concerned, I tend to be sharp, sometimes. Which is the opposite. What are the reasons for that ? Maybe you could make a video, like a second part of this one 😊 Keep up the amazing work ! You guys have been a big help to me. Thank you so much for this, Justin. I wasn't very happy with my singing in church today. I had a lot of good moments, but I could tell I was flat on some parts, and indeed I was when I listened to it. My nerves got the better of me. 😕 I'll need to brush it off and use it as a learning experience. Do you have any tips on doing that after a performance? Thank you so much.

    • @NewYorkVocalCoaching
      @NewYorkVocalCoaching  Рік тому

      Hi Daphne, we're so sorry to hear this! We understand. Justin has many encouraging episodes to help during these situations. These are some we would recommend for you:
      "More Confident Performing” - Quick Singing Tips 15
      "A Voice To Remember" - Quick Singing Tips Ep. 20
      “Is Your Voice GUILTY?” - Quick Singing Tips Ep. 28
      Remember that the only way to become more comfortable with performing is to perform! Validate your sad feelings, but then remember to pick out some good things you can hear during the performance and train your mind to not see flat notes as such a failure. Of course, we want to be in control of our notes, but going flat during a performance even happens to seasoned singers! When you're listening to some live performances, keep that in mind and you'll begin to notice it. :) We're looking forward to hearing how your next performance goes! Keep up the great work! -NYVC

    I really want to learn to belt high notes like in a lot of System of a Down and such. The problem is, when I try to sing high, I just end up going into a mixed voice, which has the wrong tone and not enough power. Could you do a video explaining how to sing powerfully high up without screaming it?
    EDIT: I am 13 and my voice broke about a year ago, so that may be the problem. What happens to males' vocal range after voice has broken (does it go up a bit)?

    Hi guys I have a doubt,
    I think I'm a baritone because my chest belts get as high as F4 (sometimes, consistent up to E4) and down to A2-G2. Then I switch to head voice and add as much chest resonance as I can, where I can belt up to D5-E5 without losing much quality.
    The main problem is I love to sing songs that require at least a well supported C5 in some parts (big endings), which I can do but my head voice sound is way different from chest so the change is very obvious the higher I get even if I feel resonance in my chest.
    Any recommendations on how to make my head voice sound almost like chest?
    Thanks!

      Alicen Samantha Holmes I have also heard 'flat' used in this way.
      Thought it's supposed to mean 'straight tone' in that context (to my knowledge).

    • @PS-sg4er
      @PS-sg4er 6 років тому

      Singing without vibrato is called "straight tone." Singing lower than the pitch is flat. Singing higher than the pitch is sharp.
