Thank you so very much! This is my main shortcoming as a vocal student and it's driving me nuts, enough to demotivate me time to time. This video explains everything. I will follow your advice and specifically work on all these points.

One of the biggest questions of singers are answered today, here - Thank you brother Justin and beloved @NewYorkVocalCoaching ! " Get more and more beautiful over time " ♥♥ WOW! "technique first and pitch will follow ". It is one amazing lesson dear brother :) And yes, you are getting more and more beautiful over time - it was rightfully said that those are of 'beautiful' hearts get only younger and they never age, never fade away.

I've been performing for decades... someone just sent me a video of a performance of a favorite song... my sustained voice was flat... I have a great ear for pitch, why did I sing flat? I've a big fat baritone and have gotten many compliments through the years... I MUST correct this.
This videos was so helpful thank you so much :)
We’re so glad! -NYVC
Thanks man♥️
Dear Justin and staff,
I did appreciate the fact that you gave some factors that cause us to be flat when trying to sing on pitch. However, as far as I'm concerned, I tend to be sharp, sometimes. Which is the opposite. What are the reasons for that ? Maybe you could make a video, like a second part of this one 😊 Keep up the amazing work ! You guys have been a big help to me. (Sorry for the mistakes, I'm french lol)
Hi Apolline! Send your Question to Questions@VoiceLessonsToTheWorld.com for a chance for it to be on the show! Also, in the meantime you can check out Episode 34 "Pitch On A Pedestal". Also, your english is GREAT! No mistakes at all! -NYVC

Thank you so much for this, Justin. I wasn't very happy with my singing in church today. I had a lot of good moments, but I could tell I was flat on some parts, and indeed I was when I listened to it. My nerves got the better of me. 😕 I'll need to brush it off and use it as a learning experience. Do you have any tips on doing that after a performance? Thank you so much.
Hi Daphne, we're so sorry to hear this! We understand. Justin has many encouraging episodes to help during these situations. These are some we would recommend for you:
"More Confident Performing” - Quick Singing Tips 15
"A Voice To Remember" - Quick Singing Tips Ep. 20
“Is Your Voice GUILTY?” - Quick Singing Tips Ep. 28
Remember that the only way to become more comfortable with performing is to perform! Validate your sad feelings, but then remember to pick out some good things you can hear during the performance and train your mind to not see flat notes as such a failure. Of course, we want to be in control of our notes, but going flat during a performance even happens to seasoned singers! When you're listening to some live performances, keep that in mind and you'll begin to notice it. :) We're looking forward to hearing how your next performance goes! Keep up the great work! -NYVC
I can sing, the problem is I'm just too shy to sing loud to create nice sound. (Sorry for my bad english)
SING OUT! :) Keep practicing and keep singing! Everyone was meant to sing and share their joy in this way. -NYVC
Would you please make a video on the topic "VOCAL HOOK" ?
Thanks for the suggestion Ramen! To officially get it on the list of requests you can send it in to Questions@VoiceLessonsToTheWorld.com! -NYVC

i need more!!! more!!! more!!! episodes!!!! ehehehe
So much more to come Ralph!!!!! -NYVC
I'm a fan of this channel. Uhm, was there already an episode which talks about sustaining high notes? Because I cannot sustain high notes and even some "not-so-high" notes. They are shaky. I've been in my third week of vocal exercise.
Check out episode 60 for some help with high notes! -NYVC
Justin is as beautiful as ever :) Thank you for this helpful video!
He is easy on the eyes isn't he? And a really sweet guy, too.
This is very kind Anastasiya! - NYVC
Aw! That's so nice Patience! We'll be sure to let Justin know! - NYVC
Yay. First comment. Also nice shirt tagline 😊👍
Woo hoo! Thanks for your support Liza! - NYVC

I really want to learn to belt high notes like in a lot of System of a Down and such. The problem is, when I try to sing high, I just end up going into a mixed voice, which has the wrong tone and not enough power. Could you do a video explaining how to sing powerfully high up without screaming it?
EDIT: I am 13 and my voice broke about a year ago, so that may be the problem. What happens to males' vocal range after voice has broken (does it go up a bit)?
that is my specialty,.maybe I can help you with that,,,
Hi JDS!! Check out our videos on Belting!! :D -NYVC
That's the daily bugle son
Hi guys I have a doubt,
I think I'm a baritone because my chest belts get as high as F4 (sometimes, consistent up to E4) and down to A2-G2. Then I switch to head voice and add as much chest resonance as I can, where I can belt up to D5-E5 without losing much quality.
The main problem is I love to sing songs that require at least a well supported C5 in some parts (big endings), which I can do but my head voice sound is way different from chest so the change is very obvious the higher I get even if I feel resonance in my chest.
Any recommendations on how to make my head voice sound almost like chest?
Thanks!
U can learn how to mix.
use mix voice....or use attack advance in transition...microphone technique also help....its a combination of many things.....maybe I can help you......
Mix Voice and Chest Dominant Mix are what you are looking for!! Check out our videos on Belting and Mix Voice!!! -NYVC
Justin, i was always told that a flat voice was one with no verbrato. Can you discuss this.
Alicen Samantha Holmes I have also heard 'flat' used in this way.
Thought it's supposed to mean 'straight tone' in that context (to my knowledge).
Singing without vibrato is called "straight tone." Singing lower than the pitch is flat. Singing higher than the pitch is sharp.
That's not accurate Alicen, but great suggestion for the future! - NYVC
Thanks for the comments Patience! You are absolutely 100% right! Excellent job! - NYVC
Thank you Victoria. Was beginning to think I was crazy. I HATE to be taught something wrong. Now 'flat' will forever be stuck in my head as 'off key no verbrato'.
I think the title will change :D
Great prophecy Gedeonandras! - NYVC
My question is is there a healthy/natural way for women with unfortunately lower voices to lighten and increase their higher range and their overall voice, so it does not sound dark, heavy, or masculine?
Yeah! There are healthy ways to do different things with your voice! -NYVC
Ah! So that's what it means...
I should get the equalizer? Do I? ....
Quick question when I sing through a mic live some note sound good and in tune until I play them back to listen then it sounds flat and horrible Why does this happens,
Sometimes we just don't hear the out of tune notes in the moment. It's normal. Getting every pitch in a live performance is tough. So, just keep working at it but don't be too hard on yourself. Celebrate every pitch victory! -NYVC
I'm really confused, how do you increase breath pressure without using too much air at the same time, doesn't increasing pressure make breath flow more rapidly?
Breath flow doesn't have to be a bad thing Han! Breath Support can keep you from using too much! - NYVC
Justin. You said more breath pressure is needed to speed up those vocal cords. But I thought they said we need a least amount of breath pressure to properly control our singing and prevent us from screaming and blasting air directly at our vocal cords. I'm confused right now
That was actually very helpful! I think breath is my issue :)
Amazing! So glad this helped! Go Julia! -NYVC
I have no idea if im flat or just nasaly
I have a tendency to sing sharp.😕
Hmmm, maybe you are pushing too much air. Try holding back and using less air and see if that helps.
We hope to explore this in the future Kritika! - NYVC
Thanks for the helpful suggestion Patience! - NYVC

How harmful is to smoke cigarette for singing? Because a lot of famous singer smoke cigarette but they still have a very good voice
Parrot Regent extremely harmfull
Parrot Regent They definitely don’t. They use auto tune and lip syncing
Those famous singers are doing a lot of damage to their voices Parrot! #neversmoke -NYVC
Rachel dame what about the Beatles they smoked
Hi.
Can anybody here review NYVC course for me? Will I be able to sing Thom Yorke kind rock with it?

Me: Yes I have this problem, oh yea. (Every problem is my problem 😢)
Hi 씨피리야 비! That's okay :) Every singer has troubles and habits they need to work through. Some more than others! But there's hope! Keep at it! -NYVC
But singing flat can actually sound cool sometimes, good examples would be Curt Cobain or Tom Yorke sometimes.
Yeah! Great thought! What we perceive as "good singing" can often be a cultural thing. Sounds outside the norm don't always sound "bad"! -NYVC
What if your asmatic
My sister asmatic she can sing
what if we're tone deaf and we can't differentiate between similar notes
Hi Yamete! We recommend checking out Ep. 9 of Voice Lessons To The World on Tone Deafness! -NYVC
