    I have the 39C+ and Ill admit I used to avoid manual range meters, but this amazing little meter changed my outlook - its such a great performer. The 39C+ is fast to read, stable, accurate, and as stated the continuity and diode ranges are superb - in fact better than some more expensive meters. Be aware like most all budget/DIY meters this one does not have the serious input protection components of a Fluke or similar high end $$$ meter, but the 39C+ is fast accurate and great for low power electronics bench work as it seems made to perform well in areas where it counts for such work. I paid less than $20 for the 39C+ and it performs well beyond its price. If your looking for a great budget bench or DIY meter this one is very hard to beat regarding bang for the buck regardless of being a manual range meter. Continuity is excellent with cleaned or quality leads and the added continuity light makes it one of the best ive seen in overall continuity performance. The Diode test voltage is nearly 4 volts, enough to light and read any diode as the review shows, and its one of the few meters with a decent NCV range, a rare thing. Every time I pick this meter up it reminds me what a good deal I got, and Im sorry if it sounds like im a fanboy but I am - I dont work for or sponsor UniT but when I see something that stands out from the sea of mediocre import meters out there I feel I have to spread the word. I can only speak for the 39C+ but if you buy one you will not be disappointed only surprised at what a good meter and good value it really is.

    The fact is those input jacks are fully supported and sandwiched between molded bosses on the bottom case half when its screwed down, theres one for each jack at bottom inside and when the case screws are tight those jacks cannot move at all and no danger of pulling on the solder joint. They can move when the case is split if you insert a plug as theres no support but when the case halves are clamped together you can pull and push leads in all day long on them with little or no issue.

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  6 років тому

      Roger that, when done properly there's nothing wrong with this type of input arrangement for the jacks. It's a solid housing and should provide suitable support for many years of use. As you said.."they ain't goin nowhere!".

    This is infinitely better than the Excel XL830L I paid AU$17 for. I know I got ripped off, but it was my first multimeter I didn't know shit at the time.
    You did a good job reviewing this. Yeah "some people" like to complain about every little detail that's not as good as a Gossen or a Fluke on cheap little meters. Some flaws that are soooo bad on cheap meters suddenly become passable on big brand meters. Those reviews are annoying as hell to watch.

    • @KeepOnTesting

      Thanks Brian, glad you found the video helpful. It's a terrific meter with a great pricepoint and if the enduser doesn't require autoranging then it's a solid choice.

    Out of all my meters the 39C+ is still one of the very best for fast continuity, even with the stock leads its better than many and thats not always the case with stock leads. I used to be an auto range only guy for the most part but this meter opened my mind to the fact that manual range meters are often faster responding than auto range and sometimes offer a bit more versatility.

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  Рік тому

      Versatile and functional. An unbeatable combination. Auto ranging junkies need to try the manual rangers for a change of pace. Once you get a taste you'll be addicted! Faster ranging as you mentioned isn't a bad thing either 😉

  • @yambo59

    Those split input jacks are supported and prevented from moving by the molded in jack supports on the lower back side of the case. As long as theyre supported like this theres no movement to cause jack failure.

    UT39E+ completely new level!!! One of the best!!

  • @yambo59
    @yambo59 5 років тому

    Again youre best argument on those split jacks is still to point out they are firmly located in their barrels by the molded in support posts in the back half of the meter when the case is screwed together.

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  5 років тому

      Roger that Mike,
      I'll have to raise that point again..
      To the naysayers who whine about split jacks,lets just say its a convenient smokescreen because any electronics engineer worth his salt would never deny that they work just fine and are absolutely safe and secure when housed in the proper barrels with backend support.

    Still all in all a very useful meter for the price - excellent continuity and diode range.

  • @yambo59
    @yambo59 5 років тому

    Theres so many meters out there for this money that are almost total crap, this one seems like a great bang for the buck. I found mine for $17 and free shipping and theres plenty of good range functionality, a nice size display here along with a backlite and excellent continuity range with visual indicator, and as you said Darren why dont meters costing many times more have the visual indicator in continuity mode-?!! I have a $12 meter that has it, no excuse for all having them. Far as input protection, you just cant expect much from a sub $20 meter, and the split jacks are well supported from support posts on the lower back part of the case, when its sandwiched together they cant go anywhere.

  • @yambo59
    @yambo59 5 років тому +1

    Once again, it definitely bears strong mentioning in rebuttal to the endless split jack detractors, that when theres split input jacks and theres correctly molded in support posts on the back side of the case that the posts sandwich, support and retain the jacks in place when the case is assembled so there can be no movement and they will stay solidly in place. More to the point here that when the jacks are supported and sandwiched in this manner they do not rely on just the solder joints or the sleeves for mechanical retention and support isnt near the big deal certain reviewers make it out to be. This is a sub $20 bench meter not a $500 Fluke, if you need a Fluke then buy a Fluke, but theres thousands who dont - in fact for hobbyists and home gamers the UT39C is one of the best values in a non auto ranging sub $20 meter out there, just stay away from the high currents and voltages and use any given meter within its design parameters - in the name of common sense the end user must take some degree of personal responsibility for how logically he uses a product, the meter selected should be in line with its intended use.

    What this meter does have is excellent continuity with visible indicator and a fully functional diode check range, theres more expensive meters that inexplicably dont do well in any of these areas. If nothing else for what it costs this meter is worth having just for its continuity and diode ranges alone.

    The input jacks arent a problem cause theres bosses molded into the back half of the case to support them, and yea it may not have killer input protection but again for $20 how much can you realistically expect - I still have and use mine and I love it for the price.

    What is hz function. 60v dc and 30v ac was written in the user manual. which country is using 30v ac?

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  4 роки тому +1

      Hz is frequency. Typically, either 110-volt AC (110V) or 220-volt AC (220V) is used. Most countries use 50Hz (50 Hertz or 50 cycles per second) as their AC frequency. Only a handful use 60Hz. The standard in the United States & Canada is 120V and 60Hz AC electricity. Btw, The user manuals often contain typos. So its sometimes difficult to ascertain what they are specifically referring too.

      @@KeepOnTesting I bought the 39c + model. I live in Turkey 50hz 220V is used. I wanted to ask in order not to break the device. :) Can these devices measure AC speed? Or for DC frequency?
      I have one cheap t-technic 890D device. It measures AC 225V, but my new unit-t 39c + AC 236V. I guess 39c + cannot be calibrated because there is no potentiometer in it. IM so sad about this situation :/

      @@KeepOnTesting sorry :) i used google translate for quick answer :) and sent it without checking, it turned out wrong.
      I meant if we can measure AC frequency with this device. Or just DC frequency?
      Also, there was no calibration problem, I tested again.
      I referenced the 12 volt output with the PSU and calibrated my old multimeter to 12 volts. But the 20volt measuring part measured 22 volts this time. And the 226volt AC measurement also changed to 256volt. As a result, the multimeter cannot be calibrated. My cheap old multimeter was really bad.There was no problem in Uni-t :)
      When taken on the Hz side, it shows 50hz wirelessly around the socket (220vAC). I was surprised.
      is it possible ?
