  • YOU CAN SERVE THIS DELICIOUS VEGAN DISH WARM OR COLD. LEEK MAY NOT BE THE MOST ATTRACTIVE VEGETABLE BUT THIS RECIPE BRINGS IT TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL. YUMMY!
    STEAMED LEEK CHOPS ( ZEYTİNYAĞLI PIRASA )
    Ingredients
    Leek 1 kg.
    Rice 1 espresso cup (per taste)
    Carrot 2-3
    Lemon(juice) 1
    Olive oil 1 espresso cup
    Sugar 1 coffee spoon
    Salt 1 coffee spoon (per taste)
    Water 1 water glass (200 ml.)
    HOW TO MAKE:
    Prepare the leek; peel off the bad leaves, wash, chop the head off, and cut in length into 4-5 cm. pieces. Wash, peel and slice the carrots in thin circles.
    Put the olive oil in a pot with the leek chops and the sliced carrots. Turn your stove to medium heat and put the lid on so that the vegetables get soft. Stir very gently from time to time. After 5-6 minutes, add the rice, the juice of one lemon, salt, sugar and a water glass of water in the pot. (If you do not prefer to have too much rice in your dish, then put less rice) Stir it gently and put the lid on. Bring the heat down to low heat and let it cook for about 20-30 minutes until the vegetables and the rice is soft.(Cooking time may be different because of the heat and/or the type of the rice, so check regularly.)
    Let it cool and then serve it in a nice plate.
