Hey Kripp! How good is a deck consisting only of BASIC cards (not even classic)? How far can you go up the rank ladder? What is the threshold you can't pass? Rank 20, 15?
Insane combos are fun, when I'm sick of everything else I try them out in casual. This one works out just as well in rogue with cold blood. This one is pretty viable, most of the others I've tried are not. You can probably make a good combo deck with shaman, many possible combos with many substitutes for cards, and not so many cards required for an OTK. Getting Thaurissan to stick or proc multiple times is also pretty easy with Ancestral Spirit and Reincarnate. It's even possible to do a neutral class OTK with murlocs and a single Thaurisan proc.
The one I'm running atm is Antonidas infinite Fireball. One of the issues with this combo in the past is that you'd need to get Antonidas to survive for a turn to pull it off - and while that can be helped with things like Counterspell, there's a much easier way to do it. Thaurissan + Duplicate (with nothing else out), to give 2 Thaurissans. If you can get the Antonidas + original two Apprentices + Echo of Medivh total cost down to 6 or less mana, you can pull the combo off in one turn, and if you have 2 Thaurissans it's pretty much a guarantee if you can survive for long enough. Deck works fairly well; against fast aggro I try to use my Duplicates on Antique Healbot and hope that I can just keep Thaur alive for 2 turns (or Echo of Medivh him, as I run 2). It's certainly not high tier competitive as it's a combo relying on a gimmick, and often at least one of the pieces will be in the last ~10 cards of your deck - but considering that, it does surprisingly well. Another deck I had thought of yesterday is Velen + Mind Blast + Mind Blast. With one tick of Thaurissan this becomes an 8 mana combo (usually 11) for 20 damage out of nowhere. The trick, of course, is getting the opponent down to 20 or less effective health with priest before then (including Alex could help), but given that it only includes 3 cards that are unusual for a priest deck - with one of those cards not being entirely useless itself - I actually think it could be included as a surprise finisher in priest.
Ive been running infinite fireballs too but i dont have medivhs. If u get the sorcs from duplicate and have antonidas in hand, you can play thaurisan and have a six mana antonidas with four 1 mana apprentices. Assuming u have a spell, you have a otk turn 10 so if u play ice block with thaurisan you win.
nebdabeast Don't you find that you often have too many cards in hand as it is, without having to give up 2 extra hand spots for the 2 extra apprentices? I actually had to actively cut down my card draw recently because I was consistently reaching points where I'd overdraw if I played any of it.

I just put Thaurissan in the miracle rogue and did the old triple Leroy combo yesterday ! I was at 1 hp and the second shadowstep was the very last card of my deck ... true story guys, what a real miracle xd
Yesterday i played vs my friend with the OTK shaman deck. I drew a lot of cards like i was supposed to and had 9 on my hand when i drew my 2nd last card. emperor thaurissan, i played him and lowered the cost of the 9 cards The next turn i drew my last card that were my 2nd crackle and ending up having just enough mana to ancestor's call malygos and fire every spell i had on my hand. He had 52 health and i ended up doing just 54 damage in one turn. Thaurissan the real MVP!
You can try it yourself, not so much has changed, at least if you get a doomguard/illidan/jaraxxus/mal'ganis you get a really good value but i wouldnt play it on a solid deck, perhaps on demonlock it has a good synergy with the new card theyre realeasing
actually really good counter to this is just keep taunts in your hand until he plays his thaurissan and simply from start to finish kill him fast as possible

In second game, if Krip saved the weapon instead of killing the owl, he would have had lethal the next turn with Alexstraza. That assumes that his opponent doesn't trade the 2/1, 1/1, and 1/1 into the Drake. which seems likely given he was going for face damage.

So thats: Malorne (not played regularly), Tyrion, Thalnos (not worth using on) Cairne, ylvanis, the beast (not played), Toshley(rarely played and sneeds (rarely played) so really only 3 that the change would actually effect.. doesn't make it much more viable imo.

Hearthstone dev's are finally realizing how fun combo decks can be and how they DO involve a lot of interactive gameplay. It feels like shit when u play zoo or huntard and don't have anything u can do about it, but if u lose to a grim patron deck, or combolock, it doesn't feel bad.
