'Movement' still is and will always be my favorite New Order album...as it is with most (Joy Divison) fans I know...that album, and the early releases that were released and recorded around that time, (including the magnificent John Peel sessions) still hit as strong as Joy Division’s material does…I don’t live in the past…I just cherish those Joy Division and New Order releases for what they are : brilliant….
Yeah, the Box was such a mean one. The Peel sessions shoulda been included for one. But also, the corrected Disc 2 of the old Movement 2CD. The book didn't need to be that size, and also was vacuous - good discussion of the songs would've been most welcome and relevant. But no, to all that. Bad. The Tangerine Dream Hades Box is better value really, despite again, stupid size, vacuous book.......really crap RAH gig.......
I’m not sure where I would be today if it wasn’t for the influence of N.O on my life. For someone who music plays such a pivotal role in life this band has been by my side right throughout through good times and bad, together with the fact that I think they are just wonderful people away from music they are just normal everyday people and when they come together they produce brilliance on an epic scale. I owe them so much I thank them so much I always wanted to be like them so much !! Thank you New Order !!
More documentaries about this band and their origins are necessary - whilst the members of the group are still alive - to tell the world about this colossal landmark event in the history of rock music. Their achievements are comparable to what Shakespeare did for the world of literature. They deserve the recognition four decades on, so very opportunity should be taken to celebrate their art.
@@unforgettabledream4396 The weird thing is to be named Tyrone and be white, not to be name Tyrone and be black. And anway, what the fuck? Why does it even matter?
I rarely go a full week without listening to Movement - such a fantastic album. Hopefully you’ll play a few tracks from it when you come to Dublin this summer.
I Remember Getting to 👀 them at Perkins Palace in Pasadena 1981 , They looked uncomfortable but the songs came alive. " Truth " , still my favorite New Order song. 🎸
Interesting to hear about the genesis of Movement & New Order, I found Movement too hard to love at first, but now I think it is a masterpiece and the struggle to make such a record through the grief and anxiety I suppose is what makes it so. Joy Division and New Order have been with me from my teens until now in my mid fifties. You had a huge impact on me in many ways, thank you.
My first time on a motorbike was in the 1970's when Barney took me on the back of his trail bike to Drinkwater Park along with his cousin Steve; a school-friend of mine who had an SS50. I got my own little moped soon after. We used to meet up occasionally at Barney's mum's house in Lower Broughton. I recall that Barney and Hooky had scooters for a while and used to discourage a local dog (aka Satan) from chasing them by kicking a brick off the footrest. They were also into Clint Eastwood, Ennio Morricone's music and astral projection. Years later I was gobsmacked to find out these guys became big stars. Glad to see fellow survivors of JB's maths lessons do well.

Shoveling all their royalties into the bottomless pit of the Hacienda, Martin Hannet dying, Factory going bankrupt, Rob Gretton dying, acrimonious split with Hooky, Tony Wilson dying...it really did get a lot worse for them.
I’ve been a fan of J D and N O since the beginning,I try to imagine how things would of turned out if Ian did not pass away. Not just trying to be subversive. But I honestly prefer Movement to Power, Corruption & Lies... the music is a perfect mix between Joy Division and New Order
Sumner admits some things here that he did not intend to. About Ian's input. About what should have been. Possibly because nobody gives two fucks about New Order anymore.
I'm a huge New Order fan. They're my favorite band but I have never been able to embrace Joy Division so I feel the exact opposite about Joy division but as a fan of music I really respect your opinion and the devotion many fans have for Joy Division. The two times I attended a New Order concert I ran into many true hard core Joy Division fans.

If ever there was a biographical film on Bernard. Martin Freeman needs to play/portray him. Long live New Order!

I'd rather they write a new album and hire Hooky to put his bass on it. They wouldn't even need to talk!

Always thought playing no Joy Division material after Ian's death was the only way to go, as to do so could have finished them - hard as it was.
