Thanks Ginja, love your videos and every time I see those mountains in the background it makes me happy! Interesting to watch these renos. I have seen several with peat moss, Conner did one recently where he put sawdust down (that got my attention as a woodworker), but here in Texas the thunderstorms are no joke and my lawn has a slope. I have to hold that seed in place. My first reno was a real learning curve. However, I found out that using lightweight burlap to cover my seed is a lifesaver! It might not be feasible for big yards, but if you are just doing 1k-2k sqft sections it works great and it's less expensive than seed blankets!

Curious if you have every worked with liquid fertilizers, iron and aeration products? I pretty impressed with liquid aeration, but it’s just the cost of application and the frequency as to how you need to apply it to get the results. A nice lawn is all about the soil. Giving grass seed roots room to expand and grow so you have a healthy lawn that is super green with loose soil that allows the roots to grow deep.

Love my Landzie, thanks to previous vids. I lost my lawn to moss over the winter. Cleared it with the dethatcher, pulling back. Worked great. Can't afford a pro for loam/seeding so doing re-seeding myself. Very tough to mow what is left and grow new seed. Plus I'm late and its summer. Did a sample patch and kbg came up great but has crabgrass in it. Not happy about that but that is what Tenacity is for. I'll continue using it. Very expensive seed. 50 lbs for $314. but its already paid for.... Wish me luck. My two landcare neighbors think I'm nuts. I like that. BTW, I'm using the Landzie to spread some sifted loam over the seed and rolling, instead of peat moss. So far so good.

Just lightly dragging a rake behind you in a cross hatch pattern will even that peat moss out really nicely. It will get some of the seed mixed into the peat moss topping, but I've never had issues getting solid germination using that technique to even out the moss.

    • @pestandlawnginja

If you put in the time give things time to thrive you can have a completely weed free lawn in 65 days. My lawn is pure KGB with sprinkles of rye and fesue. All uniform colour due to uniform nutrients. Use triple 19 on lime spots when they obviously are pure grass. Most of the time it’s weeds sapping your water and nutrient.

Planted a lot of 10x10 test areas of different grasses in my back yard , this spring I did a 10x10 test area using barenbrug rpr, I'll never use another brand of grass seed again, just gotta hope it survives the 9 months of rain we get here in Oregon,

You will be fine with 2 passes of that peat moss especially when its hot. I seed fescue in vegas it will be in the 90s some days. Make sure you hand water edges or other dry spots. Peat moss is extra fine so you can't let it dry cuz it will blow away.

Ginja, would you be able to do a video on watering? How calculate how much water, and how to calculate for evaporation? How to properly balance each areas water? Watering procedure for different soil types? That sort of thing.
I was having issues with my sprinkler coverage due to water pressure, and I just had a booster installed to correct my pressure dropping to below 30psi and not giving a proper coverage in the middle of the spray arc, now I'm trying to figure out how much water I need for Kentucky Blue that gets sun pretty much all day, and I have an open field so the wind plays a factor.

You did the work of 3 men on that job. Moe, Larry and Curley. Nice Job man, wish I had irrigation for the 40k sq/ft I'm trying to bring to life by overseeding. Weather in jersey has been crazy with day to day temps changing from the 70s to 90s with high humidity and rain. How about we see the sprinklers in action.

I just reseeded where I had 4 big oak trees. about 100-200sqft. layed down seed, starter fert, peat moss top cover, and a little tackifier. Temps were mid 90s! I was kind of experimenting to see if I could even get it to grow with that kind of heat. using some automatic sprinkler timers I had em going for 15 mins every hr for about 10-12 hrs a day. 2 weeks later it's came in very well and am going to do a first mow tomorrow. growing in the heat can be done but I'm not looking forward to the suck of my water bill this month lol.

With my landzie type spreader when I’m spreading peat moss I like to take a medium about the size of a baseball sized river rock from one of my beds I put that in the landzie Iand it breaks up more of the clumps, kinda like the ball in a spray paint can
