This album and songs:ohias music generally really got me through last year I’d recommend to anyone who liked this to check out didn’t it rain and the lioness as well.
I loved this album so much, 'I've Been Riding With the Ghost' blown my mind, thanks Brad's streams always introducing me to good music of various genres that I am not used to listen to :))
The bonus track "The Big Game is every night" is an amazing tonal shift. I think it counters the opener farewell transmission really well. Definitely in my top 5 albums of all time.
Oh shit! I was always wanting Brad to react to this (I don't have time to watch all his streams because I work a lot, so I didn't know). I love this album so much, easy top 5 of all time for me.
Just Be Simple was probably the track that grabbed me first on a casual listen, so I rewound and gave the whole thing the attention it deserves. That was probably 10 years ago, and it's one of my favorite albums of all time along with others in Molina's discography. I agree totally about the lyrics, and parts of the song are really beautiful. I also kind of think it's the weakest song on the album, besides Peoria. There's just something stilted and undeveloped about the transitions between segments. The climaxes in the song ("and everything you hated me for..." and "I ain't looking for that easy way out..." ) don't feel like they've been earned musically, they too abruptly spring up. I just wish there was something more, or that they played it closer to the chest with the dynamics. But the song before that is amazing, and the song after it is good. I dunno.

Pretty much every song has a lyric that breaks your heart.

The lyrics on Just Be Simple are unbelievably good, dude…
Almost Was Good Enough is also one of the most powerful songs out there.
