I'm a 72 yr old dude, who has seen Zep, Bowie, Allmans, D Purp, BOC, Springsteen, Petty, etc etc seen em all. Last year in Austin in a criminally small venue, I saw and viscerally experienced the very best live band and show I have ever seen. They rocked out for u,s like 300 people, as if we were in 50,000 venue. Not just expert playing but this band really like each other they LOVE their fans, and the fun component of their music must not be overlooked. They play with pure JOY and it is so contagious You must see them at any opportunity, and I would highly recommend getting their BluRays for concert foootage. Great reaction, you will keep the Maidiacs here as you discover the 130+ song backlog, ZERO clinkers, impossible yet true. Here's a little example of a deep cut they did during the shut-down to get fans new music... all their songs are as good as the prior or next. ua-cam.com/video/8QGEV9y438k/v-deo.html
Same experience in Salt Lake City. They worked their a#*es off and there were only about 500 of us there. It surprises me that more metal/rock people don't know about them here. One day they will explode and getting a seat at a concert will be next to impossible, Like you I am in my seventies and this band only compares to my first experience seeing Led Zeppelin who opened for Vanilla Fudge and no one knew who LZ were. LZ were on the stage for almost four hours in front of about 2000 souls. Fudge only played maybe two songs and sent us all happily home mesmerized by Zeppelin. After band Maid's concert everyone was , best put, Dazed and Confused. God they were GREAT!!!!
A fan? I've been a solid fan of BAND-MAID for almost 10 years and I'm sure I will be saying I'm a 20-year fan when the time comes (fingers crossed they still put out music then). Thank you for reacting to this marvelous band.
If you like Dice, you'll like over 100 other Band-Maid hit songs, too! Think about that -- over 100 awesome songs to hear! What a great prospect to have in front of you! 🤘😛🤘 Thx, Jamie!
@@GaryHolloway-810 And those 99 awesome songs is nearly 130 awesome songs! But she's done three awesome songs already. So that's close to being just under more than 127 awesome songs!😉
JMB, this song is six years old (released in 2018) and Band-Maid just wrapped up 10years together as a band with all the same members. DICE is still relative today as one of the best they have to date IMHO, which show how powerful their songwriting really is......and they just keep getting better! Check out some Band-Maid "Kawaii Moments" or Band-Maid "Cute Moments" on youtube, they mean the same but are different videos. It'll show you their off stage goofiness, the other side of the girls.
Jamie, I have another suggestion. I'm sorry that I didn't suggest it before. Another Band Maid song that really shows their talent is "Anemone". The one I suggest you view is on UA-cam. It's an acoustic version of the song at the Tokyo Zepp theatre in 2018. The duet specifically features Saiki, with incredibly powerful and heartfelt vocals, and Kanami, on acoustic guitar with beautiful backing vocals. You cannot help but moved by their performance. It shows the young women can not only "melt your face" they can also "melt your heart".
U actually got mikus idea , she calls it "the gap" the contrast of maids outfits with no idea that your about hit with face melting rock n roll miku was right all along
Jamie, I suggest you react to "Dice" again, but this time as part of a two-song clip from Band Maid's one-hour performance at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago in August 2023. The two-song clip that has gone VIRAL on UA-cam and the internet is an enhanced video of "Dice/Hate?". It should not be blocked by UA-cam. It is now one of the most watched live videos on UA-cam. The live video is one of the best rock performances I have ever seen. It shows the incredible musicianship, professional, and cohesive capabilities of this group. Warning, if you jump down the Band Maid pigeon-hole (inside joke of Maidiacs everywhere) you'll be forever hooked.
I'm a Maidiac. I found Band-Maid a little over 2 years ago and they've opened my eyes and ears to Japanese Rock. They've created such a deep and varied catalog of original music that crosses over genre: their music has something for everyone. I saw them twice last May: at Detroit and in Columbus, Ohio. They are excellent live performers and they know how to let an audience have FUN. Have you reacted to "Puzzle" yet? "Puzzle", as originally recorded, is an explosive Rocker that seethes with fury of a woman scorned. Their best recording of that version is the video from Tokyo Garden Theater. But Band-Maid experiments with different arrangements of "Puzzle", one of which is a duet with Saiki and Kanami on acoustic guitar. Find a posting of that version that starts with an intro that sounds like a child's music box. The song is transformed from fury to somber heartbreak.
What do I think? I think Band Maid is the most creative, fun, and interesting musical artists to come along in decades. For no other reason than songwriting, because these songs ought to be studied by new musicians who want to know how to break the mold and challenge the formulas. You picked a good example today! “DICE” sounds a bit like hair metal, but it’s got far more musical complexity. It’s top ten Band Maid, in my view. And yet, if you’re not a music theory nerd like me, “DICE” is still fun and easy to listen to. Jamie, you’re very early in your Band Maid adventure. If you makes lists of songs to consider for the future, here are some important ones that will show you and your subscribers why Band Maid is quite unique, and why they are considered a “musician’s band of musicians.” “Blooming” “Daydreaming” “From Now On” All official videos. Enjoy! 🚀 🤘🏽
A faultless rock song...stands up with all the heavyweight classic rock acts Ive enjoyed since Queen and Deep Purple...when my trousers were short. These delicate harmless looking Maids become Apex Predators on stage...melting hearts and faces at will. Keep on down the pigeon hole 👌👍🤘🤘🤘
Check out one of their slower songs: Mirage, At the drop of a hat, Anemone, Memorable. Also check out the rythtym guitar second vocal, Miku, sing lead in Sayonakidori, Time, Rock in me, and Big Dad. They also have acoustic arrangements. My fav acoustic is Puzzle- Anemone by Saiki and Kanami from the Zepp Tokyo concert.
Thanks for reviewing Band Maid, they certainly rock! And they are not the only super talented, all female rock/heavy metal/power metal bands from Japan, as mentioned by others, Lovebites are just incredible, along with Aldious, Lonesome Blue, Nemophilia etc. Thanks also for reviewing quite a few of The Doors songs, they were one of my favourite bands when I was much younger. From the UK.
I like styles to comment on last without doing a pose in the middle of music for a fan like me. I know the impression with the expression of your face. Thank you !
@paddyofurniture4681 I'm only 62, but watched also the many of this bands addironal Iron Maidens Judas Prtiest, Metallica, Mötöey etc. But I agree to everything yousaid below. I would also recoomend to watch always the original live MV from them whenever possible. They are monsters live.
If you don't mind, watch also to Asterism. It's also a Japanese Band, but only a three pic instrumental. Never have seen such talent in such a young age. I recommend "Dawn" a live fan video. Awesome.
You have "Breaking Stereotypes" in your title. Well there isn't a band better suited to that very attitude. One of the many reasons we MAIDIACS are absolute fans of these ladies! For this case, I'm sure the host, Jamie, did not intentionally alter the sound, but.... why do the guitars sound so attenuated and muted? Sorry, I get easily disturbed by sound and sound mixes, and I'm certain it was not intentionally, but the fact remains. I just hope that this was not what Jamie was listening to, otherwise, the reaction to the music might have been affected adversely. That certainly would be unfortunate. Anyway, from the surface reaction, she did not seem to find anything wrong with it. Hey, maybe it's just me....

Since my discovery of Band-Maid back in 2022, I have not gone a day without listening to at least 1 song by them.
As the famous saying goes, "Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things!"
I just stumbled upon this band last week. I can't stop listening to them. I must have bought about 6 of their albums now. Sooo Good!!!

One of the top ten bands ever, and the world's best band out there today. I LOVE this band!!!!
Just wait till you hear Play Live.....it will blow your mind !!!!!!
Saw them live in Houston last May. Love them so much.
Unique in that their lives are better than their MVs. The best live rock band on the planet. Thank TinyHat-san for that.
