Great video with many good news in the Ostbahn topic I have few issues in terms of the video: 1. I think that from 6:01 to 6:21 ithe delay should be 2 years instead of 2 hours😁 2. NEB "RegioSharks" are not really "RegioSharks" due to the fact that "RegioShark" is a trademark of Czech Republic national carrier - České dráhy. NEB uses this vehicles as just PESA Link DHMUs (Diesel-Hydraulic Multiple Units). 3. PESA Link vehicles are certified with few series/type designations: - manufacturer type: 223M - POLREGIO series: SA139 - Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn/Deutche Bahn series (BR): 632/633 - České dráhy rada: 844 Each of the markings have its own systematics and we should use the right way of designating the vehicles: - SA139 (ex. PKP/present POLREGIO marking) uses "-" between the series SA139 and the particular number of the vehicle - for example SA139-027 (not SA139 027/SA139.027/SA 139.027) - in NEB vehicle should be designated as VT 632.027 (I don`t undesratnd why they changed that few times) - in DB the same vehicle would be designated as 632 027 - in ČD it would be designated as 844 027-* (*is a kind of a checksum related to EVN) The only marking with a comma between the series and the vehicle serial number is found in the markings used by NEB.
Thank you for the video! Sorry if I put some personal observations, not concerning the train or the line, but it is the first time that I have the opportunity of looking that area. My late father told me many times of the time he spent during WW2 in Strausberg, Muncheberg, Kustrin, as italian war prisoner. Of course in those years there was no border, because the land beyond the river Oder was Germany too, that is the territories lost at the end of the war. This video has a special and touching meaning for me.
Since ’Oder’ also means 'or' in German, that probably leads to some funny and confusing interactions. "Woher kommst du?" "Frankfurt, Oder." "Oder waß?"
It's even worse because if you say ", oder?" at the end of a statement you're asking the listener to verify it. (Kinda like "isn't it?" or "right?" in English. But also Frankfurt (Oder) is just the name of the railway station, in regular language you would either just say Frankfurt or if you needed to specify which Frankfurt you would also say the preposition, so Frankfurt an der Oder.
7:51 I don't know if you missed it or left it on purpose but there is one more line where you can take train between Germany and Poland - Heringsdorf-Świnoujscie on the Island of Uznam (Usedom) the station Świnoujscie Centrum is not conected to Polish network and you need to catch either a ferry or a bus going in road tunnel across Świna strait to catch a Polish train on Wolin Island in eastern part of Świnoujście..
Germany and Poland belong to the Schengen area, so in normal conditions there are no border controls. This line should get a double track and be electrified. It will be surely needed in the future.
The border control exists when crossing the Oder river from Slubice (Poland) to Frankfurt an der Oder by car or by bus 983. But when you are a pedestrian, no problem in this case
The Germans, if they wanted, we could turn the barrier back. Moreover, the Poles destroyed the memory of those who gave them this territory, and thereby abandoned it.
👍 They always have technical problems with these Pesa trains. It is difficult to connect two trains together to form a longer train. Therefore, they often run a single train during peak times - full of people (and sometimes without working ac :-) )

i once took this train as it was as far as you could go on a regional train pass. Walked around aimlessly in Kostrzyn for an hour before hopping back on the train to Berlin. I think they host a large musical festival every year?
In Canada, a train that is 2 hours late is considered "on time" 🙂 Construction of a bridge over river that is only 2 hours late would be considered miraculous 🙂 Question, when line re-opens, what process deterines that NEB instead of DB or someone else gets the route? Or is there no process and any railway can start it and NEB just happened to be first one?
yes, the government published a tender, and NEB offered a cheaper contract than DB to run the trains; Almost all regional trains in Germany are subsidized
Good video and most important - information we travel form Kostrzyn to Berlin without bus substitute connection. I will definitely take the opportunity to travel by Ostbahn from Gdansk to Berlin again next month by direct train with only one change.
@@doc7austin no AC, 8 seater compartments, toilets without septic tank (drop stuff onto tracks). It’s not a good experience and should be avoided for any longer trips

territories "lost" is a polite way of saying stolen from Germany...!
@@kpdvwShouldn’t have started that great 1000 year “project”, most likely would have kept it today.
Very nicely produced! A historic event!
yes, though, there were no reporters on that train

always fun, yes

But its Frankfurt an der Oder and Frankfurt am Main ^^

Nice!
The delay in re-opening was perhaps 2 years rather than 2 hours? Nice informative vid other than that. Thanks.
yeah, i saw it; nice error :-)

It has a double track already
only small sections between berlin and kostrzyn are double-track
I had my passport checked by police leaving Kostrzyn towards Berlin

really; isnt gorzow also part of lubuski ?

07:36 you forgot to mention the train on the island of Usedom going into Świnoujście (Swinemünde).
yes. you are right; i have only realized after publishing this video
Good news ! But when and why was the line closed ?
Bridge over Oder river repairs
Renovation process, that always take too long
@@user-wu4cw5ed5w Thank you - Danke !
the old bridge was too old and cranky; trains had to reduce its speed to 30 km/h to ride over that bridge
Only a bridge building delay of two hours? Otherwise a perfect video.
a nice typo of me )))

it is said in the video; i took the inaugural train in west-east direction (berlin - kostrzyn)

Regional rail services in Germany are contracted out to different operators every 10-15 years usually. Somewhat like in the UK.

Pedantry corner: Russia used and uses Soviet (1520 mm) gauge. Only Finland uses Russian (1524mm/5 feet) gauge.
when the ostbahn was built, kibertai (todays border russia/lithuania) was the border between prussia and russia; standard gauge until that point;
