Good to see you back, David. Watch out you don't end up with a hole in that Takamine. I almost did that -- I ended up sticking a pickguard on it when the wood got literally paper-thin right where yours is wearing through. Very sweet solo on that last loop, by the way!

Great video David. Nice Conga dance too lol. The percussion sounds you get with your gtr are real nice....can't get that from all guitars. Some great ideas to try. Thanks.

heya! Great question and totally depends on what gear and looper you're running! For the RC300 for example, yes - the loops have to be the same length. For the ditto x4, or the RC300, or the voicelive3, they can be different lengths. 😊 What is your pedal atm?

Hi Michael - sorry slow reply on this! Firstly I would set up your gear and experiment tapping/hitting etc across a lot of the guitar and see what sounds you can find. You've likely already done that and maybe are still stuck. Soo, secondly, I recommend trying to find or create a present/or combo of your fx/pedals, that accentuate certain frequencies on your guitar etc for percussion. Eg if you aren't getting much bottom end for a kick sound try adding in an octave pedal, or simply raising your bass eq on your actual guitar whilst looping that section. You can do a similar thing with a higher frequency to get a bit more snap from a snare sound or string slap etc. Hope that helps and perhaps in the meantime you've figured something out haha!
Dave. Such a pleasure to see you create those grooves and its so natural. I've been trying to get a good percussive sound as it would definitely lift my arrangements to another level but I can't get the snare drum to sound like that when I tap the top of the guitar. Just sounds real muddy. Am I missing something or do you use an external microphone?
David, what's the secret or trick with the actual mechanical foot switches that you have on your looper?? I have a Boss 300RC looper in the man cave, which has, what I can best describe as "electronic foot switches, so its very easy to get the actual start / stop timing right, and everything sounds tight. But in my other playroom I have a small Nux looper, which has the same type of mechanical footswitch as on your looper, and I can never get the precise start/stop timing right.. does the start/stop begin when the switch hits the bottom position? the fully returned to top position??? or as soon as it leaves the full bottom and start its upward route?? hope you understand what I am asking here? when are those tyes of mechanical foot switches engaged??
Hey Stephen! I understand your question, I'm not sure at what actual point the switches trigger. I aim to hit them at the same time as a pretty strong down stroke on my guitar and this seems to work haha! Haven't used the nux looper, so perhaps it's a bit more fiddly? That's the little yellow one eh?
@@davidshanhun i think they were yellow at one stage.. they silver coloured now.. and they built like a thunder-box!! no , wait, that aussie speak not kiwi.. sorry.. the actual foot switch is the same type... that mechanical metal click type.. but I just cant figure out when it actually engages .. sometimes I can nail it.. other times you get that awkward dead spot between loops..... at least with the Boss RC300 it will automatically close the loop for you.. thanks for the quick reply.. stay safe and locked down.
Mines an Epiphone EJ200SCE, it’s alright iv gigged with it a lot but it’s not easy to play for lead stuff which is why I was wondering about yours, yours seems really good for lead playing too.
