Perhaps it's considered 'ugly' by those accustomed to today's typical athletic shoe styles, of which many are heavily influenced by the rap and hip-hop aesthetic; however, this is a classic boxing boot design that's got quality leather, great stitching, is made to last, and is hand made in Mexico. To prevent the zipper from getting snagged on the inner flap of material as you zip it up, simply place your index finger between the zipper mechanism and the flap while holding the outward facing parts with your thumb and middle finger as you run it up. I have to do this with any clothing item that has a zipper where there's an inner flap that could get caught. It works every time and no modifications/mutilations are necessary. Some solutions for those still luke warm about the comfort is to try it with various thickness socks and sock materials, using different lacing patterns, using a shoe stretcher (for leather shoes), or the myriad different aftermarket/third party removable insoles available. Of course, there's always the faddish, machine-made, cheaply-produced (overpriced) boots that are designed and built precisely NOT to last - and made in a totalitarian dystopia like the People's Republic of China.
I hear that leather is good cause it’s tough but the downside is the weight, have you ever heard of a boxing shoe made of deer or kangaroo leather? I bet it’d be tougher and lighter than cow leather.
A $100 dollars for a letter boxing shoe is cheap! You do not get $100 dollars leather boot! It will cost you more. There are other brand with more expensive price but all is made with plastic materials. It is a goid price for those leather boxing shoes!
