    The first video I’ve seen where someone shows how you can put things in the side. I have since bought one and was pretty stoked about the side compartment. Wasn’t 100 percent before tho if it held the small or medium cases. It infact holds the small ones then you have the top part which I believe you need if you want to “stack” the medium boxes. Not sure if the top box is that handy. Unless of course you have the drill bit version then I could see the point but a lot of the other top parts or medium boxes are ratchets and sockets anyways… shouldnt really need many if you have this set. I could see getting a medium sized box or two tho and filling it with 1/2 inch adapter set and swivel perhaps and some 1/2 inch deep sockets in another. Not entirely sure if there is a top box that comes with 1/2 inch parts as that is the one thing I’d say this set is lacking on. Still better then most sets but having no deep sockets kinda sucks. Anyways great video! Stack it with a fully kitted out tstak caddy and your laughing!

    I just bought this set at Ace today. It's pretty sweet for $99. It goes perfect with my versastack mobile toolbox I just bought from Lowes for $79. Good deals!

    A few years ago, I decided that I should buy a new tool set. It wasn't that I absolutely NEEDED one. As I probably had most sockets, wrenches, and such. But they weren't organized at all. I had collected them over the years, and w/ a new tool set, I was SO looking forward to having everything all neatly arranged - exactly as shown in the ad, and on the outside of the box. I was also looking forward to the sockets w/ the laser etched sizes on them. So I bought a Craftsman tool set from Sears. I forget how many pieces - over 200. It came in a briefcase-like plastic container. Imagine my surprise when, A) My set had the regular, harder to read sizes on the sockets, and B) Everything came in plastic bags. NOTHING, no matter how small, was in its proper place in the plastic briefcase! I bet it took me 2 hours to read the size of each tool, then find its place in the briefcase. And just like yours, I had a duplicate, a missing tool, and metric tools mixed in the standard tools plastic bags! I soon learned this tool set wasn't meant to be mobile, despite the briefcase design. The upper half featured compartments for combination wrenches to snap into, and the lower half houses dozens of sockets. But if you close the lid and pick this up, you'll hear a jingle bell and it's not Santa. It's your wrenches and a few sockets mixing it up. The only way to travel w/ this is to close it and carry it flat at all times. So, yeah, I'm just about to make this set a backup that never leaves home, and get the Craftsman 216 - which is currently on sale for $99.

      I bought the 192 DeWalt set from Amazon in 2019.i love it but it's in a briefcase like you said and it's not accessible as something like this that you can take the treys out of .but I must admit the DeWalt set has been flawless for me and I can literally drop it and it weighs about 30 pounds and none of the components come loose

    I really like that set and I do have versasstack and t-stak gear. The only thing that prevented me from purchasing that set around Christmas time was that I already had over 300 Craftsman sockets and ratchet gear. For the price, organization and stackability it was very tempting🤔. Thanks for the cool videos ✌🏼

      @@toolinhand you might need to go to that meeting to Tool-a-holic anonymous 😆. Also I do a lot of live music with multiple instruments and I've just acquired additional gear for multiple instruments and so my space for tools is very limiting as well.

      If they are older USA made sockets you should save, collect or sell them. This set is honestly perfect for several reasons. It stacks… nuff said. But on top of that you can get this on sale for 99 bucks. Can’t beat that. Also these are Taiwan made. Not amazing but not terrible. But if you have been paying attention craftsman is coming back to the USA. So… in theory… you can use this awesome stacking super organized set and hold onto your older collectable sets and if you start breaking or having issues with this set you could potentially down the road get them replaced with USA made stuff… don’t quote me but the point is this set is quite awesome for the price and with a lifetime warranty there’s no reason not too. If you already have made in Taiwan or China stuff then fair enough maybe you could skip this set but… food for thought

      I did. Luckily, the wrench was the only problem. I did notice that some of the 3/8 deep well sockets are a little longer than the gunmetal counterparts.

      Just picked one up today. Some of the chrome is failing in the 1" - 1/2" drive socket. Retention on everything is meh, and the wrenches don't have the variety that others have. Final quam I have is the 1/2" drive sockets are all 12 point. On the good side, I feel confident the 1/2" drive sockets won't break and can be usedbon 12 point bolts and studs. Although they are all shallow the sockets they are deeper compared to the 3/8" drive. You get universal joints with the kit. The warrenty is a guarentee. If you are getting this kit pick up a cheap wrench kit which goes to 1" and you should be fine. They got rid of the stinking 5.5mm socket which nobody usesa. I would like for them to have included a 3" - 1/2" drive extention along with their 6" extention.

    I went to Lowe’s Home Improvement today. I couldn’t get any help from the (2) salesmen with finding the side boxes that attach to the Toolbox because they had no idea what the Versastack system is/was.

    • @toolinhand
      @toolinhand  2 роки тому +1

      That's sad. The side boxes are the small versastack bit holders.

    Well shit. As happy as I was with this purchase I later found I was missing a socket. And Lowe’s Dosent carry it. So I called craftsman. Literally one of the worst customer support experiences I’ve ever had. Still no closer to having a replacement. And while I’m aware I could just return it it dose seem that a lot of these have a missing part of double of one part and another missing. Plus the hour of driving that I really shouldn’t have to do. I know… poor me. But still. I’m not even at the lifetime warranty stage I’m just trying to get the tools I paid for originally. I don’t even wanna know what the warranty experience will be like. I have 15 email thread with all different ppl all who’ve asked for loads of personal info and then pass me on to another person. Like why take the info if you know your not the person who can help me? That being said Lowe’s did say they would replace it. And open a new box with me and confirms it’s all there but still. What a pain in the ass. A great set. Prolly the best cheaper set and is even better then the other craftsman set with even more pieces. But the amount of boxes I’ve seen with wrong parts is kinda crazy. If u get a perfect box then your laughing.

    Great review. How do you find the versastack system handles it when you stack them up high like that?

    • @toolinhand
      @toolinhand  2 роки тому +1

      I wouldn't suggest the kit up high like that. It's heavy, and would make the stack top heavy. Keep it low. Just be careful, because the top latches on the kit seem to get undone if you jostle it around too much.

    I wonder why they gave 12 point for the 1/2” drive and 6 point for everything else ?

    • @toolinhand
      @toolinhand  3 роки тому

      I'm not sure. There are some sets that come like that.

    • @andrews8722
      @andrews8722 3 роки тому +1

      You see that getting into 3/4" drive. All the sockets will be 12 point because theoretically if you are moving up to larger bolts which won't strip as easily. Downside is they still include a 10mm and 3/8in which means you are guarenteed to strip them out. Buuuut on the flipside if you have 12 point bolts like head studs you can use them.

    • @mitchjohnson4714
      @mitchjohnson4714 3 роки тому

      I'm a noob, but wouldn't you want the 1/2" sockets to be the ones, more than any others, that were 6-point?
